Well, it was definitely quite a surprise to hear about this show. I'm a graduate of the Naval Academy (C/O 2005), and to find out there was a show back at my alma mater with one of my favorite bands was pretty amazing. To make things even better, I had just returned from my second trip to the Persian Gulf in the last year on Wednesday and I was still able to get tickets the night before. It was disappointing to find out so late in the game, but it was a great welcome home gift for me. I just wish I would've had more notice to try and get floor tickets and VIP access, so I could tell the band what an inspiration their music was for me (I listened to Home at least once a day for the last two months on my way home to my family). Getting to see family, friends, my alma mater, and Daughtry all in the same weekend was sweet!
As far as the concert itself goes, One Republic was a good band, just not really my flavor of music. Daughtry sounded much better live than recorded, even with Chris warming up on the fly at the start of the show (it looked like he had a really sore throat!). By the 3rd song or so, he warmed up and the band brought the house down. I know it had to be hard to sustain the energy the band showed. Alumni Hall is a tough place to play because of the seating arrangements (no real pit/ floor section) along with the more conservative Midshipmen up front. Trust me though, I've rarely heard Alumni Hall so energized, even at many Navy Football pep rallies. Great job guys, and I hope I can catch the tour with Bon Jovi!
Lucky Me
