I am a fan (and you should be too), because...
..Daughtry brings back to music what has been absent for quite some time now. It is obvious that for DAUGHTRTY, it is less about the image and more about the music. Seeing these guys perform live, one can see the passion that each player puts into each and every beat and riff - from JP's thumping bass line in "There and Back Again" to Chris' sultry intro on "Breakdown", to Josh tearing it up on "What I Want", to Joey in the back going through sometimes half a dozen drumsticks during a show, to Brian appearing to lose himself in the subtleties of "Home". For these guys, it is all about the MUSIC. It isn't about what they're wearing (or, in some cases NOT wearing), or how their hair looks (though Joey's got some killer locks), or any of that superficial BS that is running rampant in the music industry today. To them, it isn't about how many girls they can pick up after a show. For them, it's all about the music, which is the way it should be.
And did I mention the songs? DAUGHTRY's songs are so real and from the heart that they can't help but touch you in some way. I've grown up around music and have a great respect for songwriters. Putting your own songs on album is like bearing your soul for the world to see. Those words that you wrote - those songs that you poured your heart and soul into creating - they are a reflection of what truly lies within a person. And all you can do is hope that they are received with the same amount of emotion that you put into making them. Chris is a lyrical genius. His songs are poetry in motion - and that is a talent that you can't fake your way through. And a great song can only be made better by a killer musical arrangement and strong vocals, which DAUGHTRY brings in spades.
You should also be a fan because - in all my years of supporting artists - I've never come across group of fans who are treated as well as DAUGHTRY fans are. Every time you turn around, management is pulling another Ace from up their sleeve, offering the fans extra opportunites to purchase tickets to a "Sold Out" show and providing us with the opportunity to win VIP passes to the majority of the shows. They know that an artist is only as good as the fans supporting them, and they do everything they can to make sure we are taken care of. This is a rare gem in the music industry today.
I could go on and on telling you why you *should* be a fan. But one thing is for certain - if you pick up the album, there's no doubt in my mind that you *WILL* be a fan.
