I am a fan (and you should be too), because ... With the world what it is today, we all need an escape. Open the newspaper or turn on the nightly news and the stories are all the same: crime, murders, war, weather (with inaccurate forecasts to boot!), or politics. As relevant as much of that information may be ... It is tough to stomach on a daily basis. There are times when we need to just forget about the problems that ail our world and our own lives.
The music of Daughtry provides us all with that opportunity to either slip off into a different world or comes to grips with our own. Songs such as "Over You" or "What I Want" give us the freedom to get lost in the emotion of the music and just simply ROCK OUT. Singing (most likely off-key) into a hairbrush or television remote has never been such a therapeutic experience!
On the flip side ... A song such as "Home" may prompt not only a deep, homesick telephone conversation, but a newfound appreciation and love for one's roots. After listening to the song, it became easier for me to embrace the fact that my past is my past for a reason, and though I may not exactly like or be proud of everything in it, I know that I can go home and just ... Be myself and be loved for that. That is a gift that not nearly as many people receive in life as they should.
So, why am I a fan? I could go into minute details or write paragraphs upon paragraphs, but … To put it simply; music is a huge part of my life. I don't perform or play it, but I do listen. I feel the excitement and the joy portrayed through a song. And by listening to the music of Daughtry, I am able to cope with the other aspects of my life (and life in general) that are not as simple and perfect as a track on a CD. And for that, I truly am grateful.
