I Feel Your Pain
To all of you who missed Daughtry....believe me I feel your pain. I couldn't attend the Hershy show so I had tickets for Wednesday night's show in Columbia, MD. We dealt with the same traffic nightmares and also missed Daughtry perform! I have to say that I was surprised this morning when my husband read the newspaper article to me saying that the same thing happened at Hershey. I've attended many concerts at Hershey and never experienced the traffic problems that occurred last night. There have always been police there directing traffic.....I can't believe that there weren't for this show...especially since it was sold out. Seems to me like Daughtry was the main attraction at both of these shows, and unfortuantely many of us fans spent a lot of money to see them and were greatly disappointed. I can't even imagine how the situation is going to unfold at the York fair....but I'm not going to give up....I"m going to try going again...that is as soon as tickets go on sale!
Politely Disagree
While I agree that some traffic is to be expected......it is quite ridiculous to have to sit in traffic for almost 2 hours for an event. I have been attending concerts for over 25 years and I have dealt with a lot of crappy stuff.....but this was definitely the worst. For smaller crowds, Merriweather is probably a great place to see concerts.....but it is not designed to stage shows of the Daughtry/Nickelback magnitude. There is insufficient parking and routes to the venue.
As far as ticket prices...that is really irrelevant....but.....I did pay top dollar for my tickets and was in the pit......but after the ordeal we went through it was not worth the aggravation to stay.
Again....no disrespect to anyone...just think that Merriweather was not prepared or equipped for this size event.
Same Boat As You Casper.....
I went throught the exact same thing as you did! My sole purpose for going to the show was to see Daughtry...and I too was only 1/2 mile away from the exit and sat there for an hour and a half waiting to get in...and also had to park at the shopping mall blocks away. What a disappointment!
I called the Pavillion box office today...and not surprisingly...they were not giving refunds. I explained that it seemed as if they were poorly prepared for this concert and that they sold way too many tickets. She just came back with excuses like "well the shopping mall is our normal overflow parking area"...."we were adequately staffed"...and the best one....."it seems that the problem was that everyone left to get to the concert at the same time which is what caused the traffic jam!" What a joke!
It was my first time at this venue and will definitely be my last. Undoubtedly the WORST place to see a concert.
We were so disgusted that we didn't even stay......what a waste of $160.
Oh...and I did join the Nickelback fan club...that's how I got my tickets.....but I don't think it would have done any good because of the traffic jam.
You Guys Were Lucky....
that you got to see the show...I am jealous! I spent $160 for tickets and didn't even get to see the show because of the lack of preparation and preparedness of the staff at Merriweather. Have to say, I will never go to another event there. Now I'm on the search for tickets for another show where I might actually get to see Daughtry perform!
VIP Entry
This has been a summer of ups and downs! I was excited to hear Chris and the band were coming to Hershey....only to realize that I can't go to that show because I have my own business and have a wedding to work at that night
So....then I saw they were coming to the York fair
then all of a sudden the show wasn't on the website anymore
Then...I bought tickets to the 7/11 show in Columbia, MD.....but missed Daughtry perform because of the 2 hour traffic back up, and poor organization on the part of the venue management
So....after hours and hours of driving tonight....I signed on to the website here and see that the York show is back on!!!
I have admired Chris since the first time I saw him on tv....and have listened to the cd every day since it came out last year....and would just totally love to finally get the chance to see him live!!!!
Worst Venue For A Concert
Well....I have been excited for weeks waiting to go to this show. I had never been to this venue before, but I really wanted to see Daughtry and it's only 75 miles away....so I got tickets. Well.....after sitting in traffic for almost 2 hours....even though we were less than a mile away.....and then having to park in a shopping mall parking lot several blocks away......I was EXTREMELY disappointed because we missed Daughtry perform!!!!
The venue was obviously more than 'sold out'......people were like sardines everywhere....it took around 30 minutes just to get a soda....which cost $4!!!!!
Needless to say.....by the time we got to the pit...which at any other time would have been totally awesome....we were so disgusted that we decided to leave....without hearing any of the concert at all.
Whoever organized this event definitely dropped the ball. It was the worst concert experience I have ever had. From the traffic, to the parking, to the over-crowdedness, to the outrageous food and drink prices...and I could go on and on......this was definitely the worst concert venue I have ever been to.
Where can I get a refund????
