I am a fan (and you should be too), because...

Heck. Let's think about the first sentence of this little "essay." The whole notion almost makes my palms sweaty and evokes nightmarish visions of an 8th grade English paper due tomorrow. (YIKES) I'm teasing... in a good way! Since the "assignment" here reminds me of school... I decided to get the answer FROM school. Stay with me here- I'll explain.

I am a kindergarten teacher. (Yes- I teach tomorrow's leaders. Lord help us all! HA HA) Every year in my class, we do an "American Idol" project. We display a list of the contestants.... make predictions.... and do math excersizes during the course of the program. I also save some of my student's comments to make a "Finale" book at the end of the project. That being said... I decided to break out last year's folder and see what some of the kindergarten students in my class had to say about Chris Daughtry. I mean, it's obvious that I am a fan. I'm here- right? I just thought it would be fun to let a bunch of five-year-olds finish the assignment... by telling you why YOU should be a fan. (Bonus... you never can tell what will come out of the mouths of children.)

"I am going to pick Chris. Mrs. ______ thinks he will be #1. So he will probably win because she is very smart." -Jack

"I like his bald head." -Mikaela

"He's a rock star. I bet he's not afraid to paint his fingernails." -Lydia

"His voice is very loud and strong. It's a little scratchy.... so he doesn't sound like a girl."

"I saw on TV last night that he is a Daddy. That is probably the most important thing of all. My Daddy can not sing good at all. I always tell him to stop!" - Emma

"I just like the way he sings. And he's cool. And he dresses cool. And I dance like this.(insert mini-air guitar and head-banging here.)" -Andrew

So there you have it. I could have written about how Daughtry keeps it as rock and roll should be- Real, and powerful... best played loud and felt deeply. It's a kick-a** CD and that speaks for itself. But this was much more fun, huh? Catch y'all on the flip side!
