THANK GOD CHRIS LOST ON AMERICAN IDOL !!
What?? Is she crazy?!! Nah....
I NEVER, repeat NEVER!! have been an American Idol fan -- like many, just tuned in to see the people who believed they had talent just BOMB at the audition. Then, last year, out comes this charismatic bald guy with a cowboy hat, and I thought, hmm...he is definitely one to watch. Fast forward to the finale and seeing Chris belt out "Mystery" with Live, totally in his element with his favorite band. He is amazing, and THAT VOICE....!!!!
Over the summer I was able to catch Chris on tour, and anyone attending an AI concert would easily attest that he totally stole the show and left us all wanting more, counting the days until November 21st. I love that he dedicated so much time during the tour to work on his album, knowing that while AI was the vehicle to get his face, name, and voice out to the public, as soon as he could, he was going to get to work doing his own thing, his way, his music, and with his own band.
All that time invested truly paid off too - the CD is incredible, has not left my car since I got it, and is one of those rare finds that you want to listen to from start to finish. Great writing and tunes that can take you from a tough workout at the gym (What I Want) to your new favorite 'Breakup Anthem' (Over You). Grammy predictions for next year, anyone?
What I love most about Chris and Daughtry: They are the real deal, and not sellouts. Authentic talent -- no compromises, no apologies. Just really good, really cool, and at least from what we saw at their opening shows in California, they look like they're having a blast just doing their thing.
Forget Idol - it's so yesterday, and the future is all about DAUGHTRY!!
Chris, Joey, JP, Josh, and Brian - you ROCK, and you definitely "did it right this time around" !!
Can't wait to see you in Chicago!
