I am a fan (and you should be too), for so many different reasons. I am updating this post as it's been a looong time since I wrote the first one.
First and foremost is the music. Naturally, our favorite 4x platinum cd is where it all begins. It is rare these days to come across a cd where start to finish, you find one solid, well executed song after another. There is no exception on the cd. A true work of music magic. But it doesn't stop there... every show we've attended as given us just a little bit more. At first, it was a simple cover tune, then introducing new songs as this band has grown and collaborated together. I can't think of anyone out there who isn't eagerly anticipating the new cd and what it will sound like having all 5 of these tremendously talented musicians working together.
Now, the live show. What can I say? It's important to note that in all my years, I have never been compelled to see a band play live as I am with Daughtry. Sure, I've seen a few bands more than once. But even as a teen with (at the time) unlimited resources to do just that... I never went out of my way to see a show. For Daughtry, I have visited different venues in PA, DE, MD, DC, VA, and NC and each time, I am left ready to do it again. I am not only the kind of person who enjoys the stage show before me, but who delights in the effect the show has on the crowd and the energy that comes from that. To perform for a crowd and be able to evoke such things as tears for a beautiful ballad, to excitement for audience participation, to joy when a band member makes eye contact is a gift Daughtry delivers every time. I've seen them play on tiny stages where they were practically shoulder to shoulder to the new and improved "big" stage with the cool lights and room for some fun "rock star moves". Each time, the guys give it their all. Impressing us with their energy, their enthusiasm for playing live, and passion for the music.
Lastly, what makes me a fan of this group is each individual band member. Chris, Josh, Brian, JP, and Joey are 5 down to earth guys who are infinately nice to the fans and don't ever make us feel the fool if we ask for a photo or autograph. I go to these shows with my 13 year old daughter and they show her, as well as any child, the utmost respect. As Mom, I can't thank them enough. As a fan... I can only hope that they know how much we appreciate their time, we love the music, and we will continue to support Daughtry until the last. Rock On, Guys. We absolutely love You!
congratulations everyone!
missed my chance for free tix, but so excited for everyone who got theirs!
