Cape Review, for those who couldn’t attend…..
Well, where do I start? I guess I will start with Wednesday evening. I packed and loaded the mini van to go to my brother’s where I was staying the night before because he lives in the same town where Angela lives and we road-tripped together! Anyway, we had to make a stop at the mall on the way because my daughter wanted a new outfit for the concert! After about an hour in the store, she finally decided on one! Look at my uploaded photos for pictures! We arrived at my brother’s and I was exhausted! Angela and I were supposed to get together to make signs and I never made it that far! However, I did manage to make one! It said “ROCK STARS GET SICK TOO!” Well, I left it in the car and there was no reentry into the Show-Me Center! I was upset but had an idea! We’ll get to that later!
I though it would be nice the morning of the show to have my hair done so I made an appointment and the lady gave me big rock star hair! I knew that I was going to have to work on it once I got back home but was glad I did not have to flat iron it myself! I knew it was going to be a good day because when I sat down “It’s Not Over” came over the loud speakers! This must be a good sign, right? Need less to say, I finished getting ready and off we went.
We left around 1 pm and arrived in Cape just before 3 pm. We decided to check into our hotel before we went and scoped out the venue. We were coming around the back side of the hotel and what to our surprise, a tour bus with a trailer attached?!?!?! We’ll we got all excited for nothing or did we? The bus we saw was blue and I knew the guys’ buses are brown but it was too much of a coincidence not for it with the DAUGHTRY crew. So after checking in we headed straight to the venue. We met up with other fellow DO members back by the tour buses. When we arrived we were informed by Chris’ assistant, Carter, that because of illness he could not come out. For those who are living under a rock, Chris had ulcers on this throat or Strep throat, I assume! Pretty smart on their part, keep Chris in so the cold air does not affect this voice for the show!
We were also informed that a runner for the venue took Steely and JP to the mall! At this point I thought, “Why are we not at the mall”! They said that they would be back and sign autographs when they came back! I was excited! So when the van pulled up we were ready to get pictures and autographs but the guys must have been in a rush because they went straight into the venue! Our only hope now was after the show!
We all met up at Buffalo Wild Wing at 4:30. When we walked in guess what was playing on the loud speakers? “Over You”! Another sign that the fates would align in our favor! We met up with Lucky Kim and her friend Cindy! She won her tickets to the show on the radio and then won the DAUGHTRY VIP! Let’s see Amanda, Rhonda, Kim, Cindy, Stacey, Angela, Jamie, Me and my daughter, Ashton, partied at BWW before the show! I had a blast ladies, thanks for the memories! Well while we were at BBW, Kim got the magic call from RCA Ed and had to run to get her tickets and M&G passes. They were such a hurry Cindy forgot to pay her bill, it was all good! I had her back! That just how we DO member roll! She did call me when she realized what had happened and made good on the bill once we met up at the venue! OOPS!
Once we were at the venue we went back to the tour buses and found out that we did not miss anything! Good! It was about 6 pm and we headed up to the front of the venue to sign up for tickets and a M&G from the radio station. We hung out until we found out that none of us were the winners and they finally let us into the venue. We found out that the venue was giving away upgraded front row seats to one person so we signed up before we took our seats. They announced the winner and it was Rhonda! Whooo Hoooo! Amanda and Rhonda got front row seats!!!!! I want to see pictures ladies!
The show got underway and we were pumped! Day of Fire took the stage and they had a lot of energy and great stage performance! The next opener, You Are I AM” was up next and they were a little more of a mellow sound. Not all bad though! But when DAUGHTRY took the stage the place exploded! Everyone was up one their feet! My daughter said “Mom it sound just like on the iPod”! I said of course! They did all the songs off the album to the best of my recollection! Someone correct me if I am wrong!
He even sang “All These Live” acoustic! It was beautiful! I was on the verge of tears! You could not tell Chris was even sick! He was on point all night and preformed a full set! All the guys put on a great show and I love the new props and backdrop! The light show has been stepped up a few notches as well! He had the audience engaged and even mentioned that he had played for larger crowds but we were the loudest singing “Over You”! Now, I will take that compliment! DAUGHTRY, thank you from the bottom of my heart! Words can’t express the love and admiration I have for all of you! You guys are the best of the best! Keep up the good work!
The show was over and we went and got picture with the opening bands. You Are I Am, sang Happy Birthday to my daughter! She was delighted! Then we went back to the tour buses and man was there a crowd! I got out my sign and had everyone signed it that was close so I could give it to Chris if he came out! Good idea, I think~! We waited for the guys and it was freezing! The driver of the guys tour but started it up and took down the cover of the front window. When someone went back to the back there was a TV playing and let’s just say we had to cover my daughter’s eyes! If you know what I mean! I thought my daughter would start complaining about being cold, but never did! Brian and JP came out first and started to sign autographs and take pictures. My daughter was tickled! She still talks about the “Cute guy with a Mohawk”! Steely came out and when I told him it was her birthday he was happy to take a picture with her! Then Chris came out and gave us the finger! The “Wait a second” finger! He got a hat on and a sharpie and Carter held up a flashlight as he signed autographs. He was not stopping to take picture with people but we did get pictures of his signing autographs, hey I’ll take it! I am just glad Chris was able to come out at all. I tried to give him my sign but he was in such a hurry he really did not acknowledge that I was trying to give it to him, oh well no big deal! So everyone started to leave and the guy’s semi with equipment left. We were still holding out that Joey would come over and finally he did! We got pictures and autographs from him too! He’s such a sweetie! He even took my sign to Chris!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!! VICTORY!!!!! So at the end of the night we accomplished what we had set out to do! Picture’s and Autograph’s with the entire band! My daughter’s new prized possession is her signed concert ticket!
We started back to the hotel and we just happened to be behind the tour busses! What a coincidence! Well, we turned to go the hotel and then they turned to go to STL to fly out to LA! As we were walking up to the hotel, we noticed that there was some of the road crew hanging outside the hotel?!?!?! Maybe that bus was thier’s?!?!?!? They would not admit that they were with DAUGHTRY but one guy has a long red beard and I know I have seen him at other shows! Go figure! All in all it was a great night! I could not have asked for a better first DAUGHTRY concert for my daughter! She is already asking when we will get to go again! Not soon enough, I will tell you that! I would like to thank all the DO members who made this show so successful! As we all know, DAUGHTRY fans are the best!!!!!
