Show it was
The fireworks were great at the end of the show! Despite the heat, yet another great concert by the guys!
. . . jEN !!
this was awesome! i thought it was so cool that the fireworks went off right as the concert ended....it was really cool.
I'm lovin' me some Daughtry!!
So Im kinda new or at least new to actually posting here. But I had such a great time at this concert. It was soo much fun and well worth the wait in the 110 degree weather dont think my dad would say the same thing though lol. Well worth the standing too. I was like in the 5th row which is soo much better then I thought I would be at. I think Im still on a high from the concert. But I really want to go see them again!! These are the times where I really wished I could time travel.
It's only been a week & I'm ready for another Daughtry concert. They are AWESOME live. As if ALL of their songs weren't enough, they covered 2 songs. Quite wonderful I thought considering the unbearable heat. They did Alice in Chains Nutshell & Filter's Hey Man Nice Shot.
Daughtry never disappoints. They are so FANTASTIC live.
Valerie, and you are welcome!
It was so worth standing in the heat! It was an AWESOME show! DAUGHTRY never dissapoints!
All I can say is the 4 1/2 hour drive and the 6 hours in line in that ridiculously hot weather was all worth it! I was 3 rows (or shall I say 3 people back) center stage and it was awesome! I actually had grandstand seats when I first got there and decided to buy SRO tickets when I got there! Well worth every bit of it! I aslo got to meet some really great people in line! Springfiled rocks!!!!!
Yesterday I was in Springfield at the Illinois State Fair. We arrived there sometime around 10:30/11:00am in the morning. We sat in line for the Daughtry Consert all day!
The temperatures reached around the high of 117 with heat index. Everyone there was do dehydrated. No matter how much water you drank you were so freaking hot. They finally opened the gates at 7:00pm. I was so freaking excited I couldn't wait any longer. When we were finally allowed in I started to run to the front of the line. All the state troopers were yelling and no one was listening to them, it was awesome. When the concert finally began the opening band 12 Stones were freaking awesome. I have never heard of them before. I am going to have to go out and buy their CD. Everyond was so hot and smoothered in sweat they shot ICE COLD WATER all over everyone. That was nice since everyone was elbow to elow.
When Daughtry came on that was when the fun really started to begin. I was right in the front right by the rail in front of the stage. I was so freaking excited. About 3/4 through the concert some of my buddies were going to leave and head to the back of the concert because they were really hot and couldn't stand the heat anymore. But right there Chris Daughtry and Josh Paul aka JP - started throwing water. When he was sitting there looking for someone to throw some water at. . . . I started to scream as loud as I could and he looked right over and threw the water.
I was so happy when I caught the water because I drank about half and shared the rest with the rest of my friends because I knew that they were thristy and were going to leave. Luckly when they drank the water they decided to stay and enjoy the rest of the concert. As the encore performance and the concerty was about to end... Chris grabbed his towel and threw it out to the crowd. I jumped up as much as I could and I caught the towel. I was so freaking excited. Not only was I catching water for my friends left and right I caught the towel that Daughtry was using.
That was one of the best concerts that I have ever been to in my entire life. The song right before the end. . . . I think that was the end for me. All of a sudden I was standing and screaming and my head started to pound really hard over and over again. I looked up and my vision went completely black! I couldn't see anything. All I said was for Jen and Misty to hold on to me as I feel back on to them. The woman next to me started to fan with her little electrical fan that shot water. My eyes were so fuzzy. But I could'nt let something like that stop my from enjoying the rest of the concert. So I sat there and started to scream and hollar again and go absolutely insane!
If I ever have to wait in line again for 10 hours in 117 degree weather, then so be it. I will definetly go see Daughtry again!
So after the concert I left with:
- Daughtry Towel used on stage!
- Water Bottle from Chris Daughtry (Misty Has)
- Fuzzy Vision
- Sick to my stomach
- One hell of a great concert.
Next Mission:: GET PICTURE WITH DAUGHTRY AND AUTOGRAPHS!!!
THANKS TO DAUGHTRY AND 12 STONES FOR ONE HELL OF A CONCERT!!
I can honestly say that I was the FIRST PERSON in line for the show!!! IT WAS SO WORTH IT!!! I got there at 8am!!!! I stood in line for 11 hours and I must say I have never been so hot in my entire life. If it wasn't for all my Mr. D girls and Barb I would have probably passed out.
AMAZING SHOW!!! I have some amazing pictures and the experiences that I had last night were absolutely amazing!!!
DAUGHTRY ROCKER MY WORLD LAST NIGHT!!!
JP IS AMAZING and I am so glad I finally got to see the entire band together!!!

Life is what you make of it.......
~Daughtry fan for life~
Hope you all have a great time at the ISF show! Pray for a breeze and keep hydrated, the grandstand is notoriously HOT though(shade at night though). About the track...I would NEVER take a kid onto the SRO/TRACK or a person with a disability. The ISF mosh pit is ROUGH, REAL ROUGH. They sell beer from kegs on the the track and the track is known as the pit. There are three entrances to the grandstand(one in the center and one on each side). SRO enters on the sides only. At any SOLD OUT event there before they have always continued to sell SRO tickets. If you are under 6' 4'' its nearly impossible to see the stage because of ppl in front of you from the track. Security is always tight!!!! you wont meet anyone in the band and security is provided by the Illinois State Police. Dont want to scare anyone just want Everyone be safe and try to keep hydrated. Peace!
Daughtry at the fair is just around the corner. I'm still in disbelief after the Sauget concert was cancelled. I keep feeling like something will go wrong. I have been anxiosly awaiting August 12th for so long I can't beleive that tomorrow night I will be seeing them again. I know the weather is going to suck, but hopefully everyone's spirits stay high & the energy is amazing. They are indescribable live. I hope I too get a great spot on the track.
I had no idea it was that large of a space - sure hope I get a good piece of dirt to stand on! See ya Sunday
Die-Hard STL fan
Track holds 4500, I checked today.
Does anyone have an idea of how many SRO tickets were available for this concert? Just trying to figure out crowd size and if it's gonna be really tough to get close to the stage. Are SRO tickets only on the track or is it also considered part of the field (pit area)?? Any info would be helpful. Thank you.
Looked today and the high for Sunday is now 101 - holy cow!
Two days til the show!! I'm so excited! Bringing my 6 year old to this one. My friend cancelled on me b/c it's too hot for her so i have an extra seat ticket for sale not very good seats but didn't want to be SRO with my son. So i have a tikcet for sale if anyone needs one. I can't wait! Gonna hang out at the fair for a little while first. Driving from STL!!!!
Can't believe the time has finally gotten here! Only 2 days left. We are driving in from STL Sunday morning and plan on being at the fairgrounds sometime early afternoon - since I'm not sure how they run their SRO I'm assuming we'll be standing in line all day long; but it's all good! Anything for Daughtry!!
Just to make everyone aware ---
THE SHOW IS SOLD OUT!!!
That means upwards of almost 15-20,000 people will be at this show...
This is the only Rock show the fair provided this year so their will be some hardcore rockers there and of course TONS UPON TONS of DAUGHTRY fans!!!!
I was wondering when everyone was planning on getting to the show on Sunday?
I don't think anyone will have a problem with your daughter being up front for the concert. I think that's great that you are bringing her! We should all try our best to get together and try to keep her and ourselves cool since I just checked the weather and it said it's supposed to be 101 now!!!! YIKES!!
I know music can be a wonderful thing for someone with special needs! My niece is going to be 12 this month and she has CP and epilepsy. However, she can't do anything on her own and has to rely on caretakers. She is in a home now and whenever we are there we have music playing for her and she seems to enjoy it! I would love to have taken her to a concert but I think it would just be too much for her. They have local people that come and play music for them and when they do go out it's close by so in case anyone is having a hard time they can bring them back to the home.
Sorry to go on, anyway looking forward to seeing you there! Have a safe trip!
**DAUGHTRY ALWAYS MAKES ME SMILE!! :)**
I appreciate so much that you all took the time to respond. She started school today and has a hard time adjusting to change with her special needs so she was sad tonight and I just kept reminding her in a few days she'd be seeing the guys! They have been such a good thing for her, it really makes her smile and gets her excited when you even talk about them.
I hope that we'll be able to get her close enough to see. I appreciate so much that you all are so kind and understanding as well. She'll most likely be wearing either her Joey shirt. If you all see us, say hello!!! We'd love to meet you! *S*
I am not sure how many gates there are, but I've got to call them tomorrow to find out where I have to go to sign the waiver to take her on the track, so I'll ask and let you all know.
When I had called the fair before, the lady said it was 10,000 people and close to being sold out, and that was a few weeks ago.
Thanks again and I look forward to seeing you all!!! *S*
Mom who is blessed with special needs kids, great friends and the kindness of Daughtry!!
How does the fair do their concerts? I've been to many different shows, so I'm just wondering. Our Grandstand only has one gate here in IN... How is IL's?
no need for you to get there real early if you have reserved (assigned) seats. your seat will be there when you get there. just make sure you get there early enough that you are in and at your seat before the show starts (or daughtry anyway). you will more than likely have to wait in the same like as everyone else, but your place in line doesn't have anything to do with how close you will be. but if they don't open the gates in time, the people towards the end of the line may miss some of the concert. more than likely just the opening act though. hope this helps some.
if anyone would like a general admission (stand room only)/pit ticket, please let meknow. i have one to sell at face value. just send me a pm.
I've never been to the ISF - this is also my first Daughtry concert. I hear you all talking about standing in line for the show - and I know you mean because you have SRO - but we are in the first row of actual seats, so I was wondering if we would have to get in a line also - or if we will just walk right in and sit down. I know it's probably a real dumb question, but I just want to make sure we get there in time - we're driving a couple hours for this so we're trying to figure out what time to leave. Thanks everyone! :0)
Sunday cannot get here soon enough! Any idea how many tickets they were selling for this concert? Should be an awesome but very hot day.
last time i checked sales for the show were at 8,000 and that was before the big fair push...
so hopefully this will be a nice big crowd for the guys
i am getting rather excited about Sunday!!!!
I did not get tickets for SRO.....but if I did....I would not have a problem with your daughter getting right up front. There are 162 attendees(which means Daughtry fans to me) for the Springfield concert. I don't think you will have any problem. I hope your daughter has a wonderful experience!

I would love to see the autograph book!
I think if you get there early enough and get you pass that you should not have a problem! DAUGHTRY fans are great and they should make room for your daughter to be up front and center! At least I know I would!
I'm getting nervous. I purchased track tickets because my daughter begged and pleaded to do it where she was closer and not in the back. However....she'll be in her wheelchair because she can't stand for long periods of time due to having epilepsy. She's 11 years old.
I called the fair and they said I'll have to sign a release to take her wheelchair on the track. I don't mind doing this, but I'm starting to get worried about having her in that big crowd. It's a dirt track by the way if you all didn't know.
She is so excited. She wants sooo bad to see the guys better this time around. Last concert the place was wonderful to her, but for her safety they put her behind everyone else and she couldn't see much. Otherwise it was a wonderful experience.
Any ideas or suggestions for us?? Earlier they had offered me the chance to exchange the tickets for the handicap section, but my daughter cried when I told her that and didn't want to do it...so I stayed with the track.
Thanks and I look forward to meeting some great DO members there! *S*
I'll send you a PM with my info. Thanks.
I have a picture of the book if anyone wants to see it. I will have to email it to you because I am having trouble posting it. I still am not quite sure how to post pictures on this site. If someone can help me out that would be great!
Someone further down asked about cameras. I HAVE taken pictures from the SRO space at the ISF before. I took pictures with my digital camera for about half of the show.... and I was right in the front. Finally someone told me "Disposables only" so I switched to a disposable and handed by digital to a friend that was about 3 people deep in the crowd. She was able to take pictures with it through the rest of the show. Probably depends on security at each event.... but it was my experience that they didn't really try to mess too much with the folks in the crowd.
Do with this info what you will.
My thoughts exactly!!!!!
how awesome would that be
Maybe since it will be so hot.....the guys will be shirtless!
Everytime I look the temps are getting higher and higher - we are gonna roast out there! Then again we'll all do anything for Daughtry! Can't wait for Sunday to get here.
I may have an extra SRO ticket to sell for face value. Let me know. Send me a PM if interested.
Did anyone else see "162 attendees" for the Springfield concert? How much fun are we all going to have......whooo hooooo!
It could be 120 out and I would still wait to see Daughtry. I can't wait for Sunday to get here. I like the autograph book idea. I will write in it!
Great... I'm going to be a hot mess! HAHA
It may be hot the day of the State Fair but DAUGHTRY will set the place on FIRE! (NOT literally!) OK, I have an idea and I am asking you all for some constructive criticism. You can tell me I'm nuts and I will not be offended! I am working on a small 5x8 mini autograph book for the guys. I have all kinds of rock star embellishments that I plan to use to bling it out. But, as we stand in line at the fair I was hoping to pass it around for all to sign who wants to and to write a small note to them. I made one simialr for my daughters swim team coach and he loved it. Hand made gifts are usually better cherished by those who receive them then something that was bought. If any of you have any idea on how to get it to the guys I would love to hear from you. If I cannot get it to them in Springfield, I will try again in Evansville.
Afraid to say that the temps keep climbing for Sunday - now it's 92! Uggghhh.
LINDA!! ROFLMFAO!! @
"I am just trying to figure out how this is all going to go down. After the Muskegon show...anything can happen.
Amen sistah! lol
We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures. ~Thornton Wilder
Now it's saying 90 and sunny - hope it doesn't keep climbing, although at least it'll be starting to get dark.
Life is what you make of it.......
Not too bad..... I can't take the heat with a huge crowd. I'll get cranky! =]]
high of 89, low 66 with 10% chance of rain.
know the forecast for next weekend?
