American Express Presents An Evening With Daughtry
LOS ANGELES – On Sept. 14, 2010, The GRAMMY Museum will welcome the multi-platinum selling, GRAMMY nominated rock group Daughtry and special guest, producer Howard Benson, for an onstage interview and performance, it was announced today.
With four #1 singles, two multi- platinum albums and an ever-growing list of accolades, singer Chris Daughtry says that “the best part is that we’re just getting started.” In 2006, Daughtry released their self-titled first album. The album wound up at #1 and has gone five-times platinum, with three #1 singles (“Home,” “It’s Not Over,” “Feels Like Tonight”). Three years later, collaborating for the first time with his bandmates, Daughtry released its sophomore album Leave This Town (19/RCA). Once again, the band experienced immediate success with a second #1 album. Daughtry recorded Leave This Town with producer Howard Benson (All-American Rejects, My Chemical Romance), who also produced Daughtry’s GRAMMY nominated debut, which was the biggest selling rock release two years in a row and the fastest selling rock debut in Soundscan history. The band recently completed its hugely successful, first ever headlining arena tour and will continue to perform select dates in the US before making stops in Europe, South Africa and Asia.
Before an audience of 200, in the intimate setting of the Museum’s Clive Davis Theater, Daughtry and Howard Benson will sit down with Executive Director Robert Santelli to discuss the band’s career – how far they’ve come and where they’re headed. They will also discuss the band’s involvement in the creation of their latest album, songwriting and life on the road – which is where they’ve spent the majority of their time over the last few years. Daughtry and Benson will field questions from the audience before the band treats attendees to a stripped down musical performance.
The GRAMMY Museum launched its flagship public program, “An Evening With…,” in January 2009 with music legend Brian Wilson and continued its success with critically-acclaimed recording artists Ringo Starr, Annie Lennox, Bob Newhart, Tom Morello, Dwight Yoakam, Dionne Warwick, Herbie Hancock, Smokey Robinson, Chrissie Hynde, John Mellencamp,Terence Blanchard, Herb Alpert and Lani Hall, George Benson, Paul Shaffer, Carly Simon, Harry Connick, Jr. and Clive Davis. The program regularly features award-winning and cutting-edge musicians live and onstage. Taking place in the Museum’s state-of-the-art Clive Davis Theater, which screens exhibit-related films during regular Museum hours, the program provides guests unprecedented access to their favorite musicians.
“American Express Presents An Evening With Daughtry” will take place at 8pm in the Museum’s Clive Davis Theater, on the second floor of The GRAMMY Museum. Doors open at 7:30pm.
