anyone watching new season of American Idol??

I am going to watch it. Though didnt really care too much about last season but thats just me. i hoping this season will be better BUT in my opinion NOONE will EVER be as good as Chris Daughtry and David Cook. They both are truly the best in American Idol history Smiling

I know I "predicted" Haeley leaving, but good grief Fox, couldn't you have cut to a commercial and saved a poor teenaged girl the embarrassment of sounding the way she did during her swan song? It was painful to hear, painful to watch, and painful to imagine how much the kids back in her school are probably going to goad her over it.

Boo, Fox TV!

I sorta agreed with the eliminations. There is one person I don't care for this season and that is Todrick. So if he goes, I won't complain. haha Everyone else seems pretty nice.
Danny did a great job. Sounds like he will do really well country!!

Terri

Happy with the two girls who got the boot. The Korean dude, John is it...he was better than a few of those guys. I don't think he should've gone quite yet. Oh and I was happy to see Danny Gokey tonight, love him.

Still going with Lee, Alex, Casey(no idea he could play like that, impressive), Lilly and Siohban for my favs.

*Laurie*

I watched Crystal last night and that was it. I shut it off after her. She was AMAZING! Love that girl. =) I agree with the picks for the guys going home, but since I didn't watch the girls, I will trust you ladies on your picks. =p.

Mary (12 shows and counting!)

LMAO..I didn't get the praise over the Creed song either..I was like this: >< lol

Going home...I am going to guess guys: John, Jermaine or Todrick.
girls: Haeley, Michelle, or Lacey.

Terri

Overall still reeeeeally not impressed with this season at all. Don't get me wrong, there are good singers but I'm not seeing sellable pop music coming out of many of them, which I always considered to be the point of the show. Guys going home: Jermaine, Tim. Ladies leaving: Haeley, Didi. Just my opinion...Smiling

Head scratching item of the night: all the praise to Michelle for the Creed song. Really?

Mary~I totally agree.

For the girls I really like Crystal and Lilly. A few others have good voices but not my thing.
I like Didi but was a little annoyed tonight when she got upset at the criticism. Siobhan did good too.

Terri

I agree with you Terri on who may go home. I really liked Lee and Andrew last night. Casey was ok, but he went a little overboard with the electric guitar in my opinion. Maybe all of the judge's praise went to his head or something. =p Other than those guys I am not too impressed at all with the others. I am still not excited about this season yet, I sure hope that changes.

Mary (12 shows and counting!)

I hope things pick up this season. I still like Andrew, Casey and Lee for the guys. I think Lee, Alex had a good night.
I still keep waiting for someone to do something really good though.
Who do you guys think will go home for the guys? I think it could be John, Jermaine or Todrick.

Terri

I know it was just on last night so I don't want to spoil it for anyone that did not see it, but I really disagree with one of the girls who got the boot. I definitely would never have thought she would be the one.
I think it was funny to see Chris' tweet of "Ouch" after he watched the guys' performances, though. I was thinking the exact same thing when listening to both night's worth of performances.

I agree, this season is off to a boring start. Tyler was my favorite going into last night's show but I did not like his song choice/arrangement at all. I really hope he steps it up and concentrates more on his singing. I really like Casey and Andrew, both of those guys have amazing voices. Although, I think it was a little much with the whole Kara and Casey thing, I hope they don't keep that up all season. I agree Lee is definitely good, I can't wait to hear more from him.

Mary (12 shows and counting!)

For the guys I like Andrew. I also like Casey, Lee is sorta interesting and I want to hear more. Plus he seems like a nice guy. But the past two nights have been sorta boring overall.

Terri

So Lee and Casey...... Smiling Smiling Smiling

I do think Alex Lambert does have a good voice (even though that wasn't great) and he does sound like James Morrison.

*Laurie*

Lilly and Siobann (I know that's nowhere near how it's spelled lol) are my favs.

Didn't you guys think it was so sloooooooooow and boring tonight and they say it's a girls year! If that's the case I'm expecting the guys to be horrific tomorrow.

*Laurie*

Crystal is my favorite of the girls. I also like Didi and Lilly.

Terri

I'm pulling for Casey for the men and Crystal for the ladies. They just seem to me to have the most talent. Not that many of the others aren't also great singers. I honestly don't remember seeing many of them singing (Paige??? Joe Munoz???) but I didn't watch Hollywood "week" religiously.

Kinda surprised that Angela got the boot though. And I hate to say this, but I can already tell that Todrick is going to annoy me. Something about him is just rubbing me wrong

Terri - I am not sure if they showed him getting a No. I cheated and looked at spoilers to see if he made it or not and found out that he didn't so I didn't even want to watch last night. =( I skipped to the end to when they showed the Top 24 to see who made it.

I was watching more songs Luke has posted on You Tube and man that boy has some talent!! AMAZING! He has links on his Twitter page to the You Tube videos. So I am glad he has those out there at least. Still shocked he didn't make it through, but oh well, that is Idol for you.

yeah Crystal is her name, that is the one I like.

I guess I will have to watch and find my new favorite.

Mary (12 shows and counting!)

Mary~I liked Luke too. They didn't even show him getting a no did they?
I really like Crystal and Didi for the girls. I haven't seen much of Tyler I don't think. I do like Casey and Andrew too.
I have a feeling they are pimping Katie.

Terri

Still bummed Luke Shaffer didn't make it to the Top 24...he was so awesome. But he posted on Twitter last night that he is working on an EP right now so that is great news! We have not heard the last of him. =)

Minus Luke my faves for this season are Tyler, Casey, and one of the girl's that I don't know her name...she is the hippie looking one that was playing guitar/harmonica at Hollywood week.

Mary (12 shows and counting!)

Your right about Lee, I'm starting to enjoy him. I just figured this out last night.

*Laurie*

I'm trying to remember the people's names I like so far:
Lee could be interesting. Haven't seen much of him though. Casey, Andrew, Crystal, Didi, Janelle. I have to see more of some of them to make an opinion.

Terri

Laurie- I'll have to ckeck out Michael's music.

Is Casey the blond who took off his shirt? I like him (not the shirt part!) He's kind of Bo Bice'ish but maybe better. I would like more Hollywood week and less auditions too.

~*Pam*~

What?!?! They both get cut? What a bummer. They were the two that I really liked. My bubble is officially burst. =(

Mary (12 shows and counting!)

Ben got cut last night. He was good. I read that Luke gets cut in Hollywood too. Sad
It seems like a girls year. I liked Janelle, Didi and one of the other guitar girls but I forget her name. Andrew seems good. I liked Casey too.

Terri

I am happy to see Tyler Grady made it through, they showed him briefly as going through, you didn't see him as part of a group. Where is Luke Shaffer and Benjamin from the auditions? They were both awesome! I hope they made it. Glad the bank robber didn't make it. I wish they spent more time on Hollywood Week, less time on auditions, it would have been nice to see more of the groups.

Mary (12 shows and counting!)

Awwww shucks Michael didn't get through. He did seem to be having a good time though :\ Hey Pam, have you checked out his stuff on itunes? It's only a few songs but he sounds good from what I heard.

Right now I guess I'm a Casey fan. I liked his acoustic soul he busted out with yesterday. I liked the girl who almost has silverish blonde hair too.

Where are all the rockers at this year????

*Laurie*

I like Ellen. Smiling I thought the last few girls with the guitars were both really good. I think this might be a girls year.

Terri

Ellen did good. She was funny and pretty cool. I saw quite a few I liked but can't even recall then at the moment. I have a cold and was sort of out of it last night watching. Again-they did not show Michael Castro but I think he moved on to the next round.

~*Pam*~

I haven't been here in awhile but still watching. Not impressed at all. Other years it was easy to pick out a few that did eventually make top 10, no stand outs for me this year. Looking forward to Hollywood week to see more. I was excited to see Michael Castro too--the BRIEF clips they showed him! I had to rewind several times to see if it was really him. Shame he got no mention. Steph--enjoy your vacation!! Hope it is somewhere warm as I am digging my way out of 21 inches of snow!

~*Pam*~

have fun on vacation
I'm hoping to catch some of Hollywood week myself but I hardly saw any of the prelims. Guess that makes it like a fresh start for me

I'll have to wait a while before seeing Hollywood week because I'll be on vacation next week. Really looking forward to seeing Ellen try her hand at the judging gig. From the previews, she seems like she'll be really good at it.

DAUGHTRY ROCKS...'nuff said!

Oh I didn't know Michael Castro tried out again, you think they would have showed that auditon. I guess they were too focused on all of the bad ones and the good ones that had sob stories attached. I hope he does well. =)

Mary (12 shows and counting!)

Thank God auditions are OVER! Bring on Hollywood Week!!

Mary (12 shows and counting!)

local radio station here keeps making reference to the list of the top 24 having been leaked somewhere...but I figure, who remembers many of the names from the audition round??? would it even make sense???
I'm not posting any links cuz I don't want to get myself in trouble...just thought I'd mention it

Once again not to impressed. The dude who wrote his song for the judges was good I guess. His song was fun. The last girl they showed was good too. OH and I got real excited when I thought I saw Michael Castro get through and it turns out that it was him!!! I really hope he gets through the next few rounds cause I really liked him last year. So I guess he's my favorite atm, to bad they didn't show his audition Sad.

*Laurie*

I was putting my dgtr to bed so I totally missed that audition. The lead in before commercial was making it sound like this guy was amazing.
Again, I wasn't all that impressed with LA. The one that stuck out in my mind was the guy near the beginning who talked about being a former gang member during his back story - I thought he was really good.

So LA was disappointing last night, but I really liked the guy that sang the Maroon 5 song. The girlish guy that sang "I Touch Myself" really creeped me out. I'm not sure what he was seeing in Kara and Katy's expressions, but they looked pretty creeped out too. And the first guy that was supposedly a genius really needs to get his IQ checked again if he thinks he belongs on Idol.

--Steph--

DAUGHTRY ROCKS...'nuff said!

...which really ticked me off cuz I wanted to see the CHI show, being from Chicago Smiling
I'm agreeing with so many others that the audition shows are just not impressing me anymore either. I'll just wait for Hollywood to see who I might like or not. Too many people that I somewhat like end up choking during Hollywood week, and then I get so disappointed.

Not too many knock-your-socks-off auditions so far this season. Last night I liked the guy that sang the Tony Bennett song, with the white hoodie. Wasn't a fan of the bank robber - it seemed like he was trying to sound like Ray LaMontagne. I know when I sing along with different artists I tend to sing differently because I end up trying to mimic the way they sound, so I sing completely different when I'm listening to Dave Matthews than when I listen to Kelly Clarkson. That's what I was thinking about when I was listening to that guy - that he was trying to sound like Ray. It might actually be the way he sounds, but it was a strange audition for me.

How about the guy that got through because he ripped his pants?! That was pretty funny...there's no way he's getting past the first round in Hollywood though.

Here's an interesting article about the audition process: http://mog.com/blog_post/content/1498/1710604. Some of it I already knew, and some of it gives a good insight into how the process works.

DAUGHTRY ROCKS...'nuff said!

The past few auditions have sorta bored me to be honest. I read a spoiler and saw that a few of the early people I liked are cut before top 24, so I refuse to like anyone right now. haha Don't know if I will even see them again. Sticking out tongue
I'll probably get into the show more once top 24 is announced.

Terri

yeah I know, you don''t see too many of the good ones during the auditions, and if you do it is a quick clip, or like you said, just them walking out with the ticket. They spend most of the time on the bad auditions, I know it is for the ratings but after while it gets old. I also am getting annoyed at how much time they are spending on the sob stories for certain contestants. It seems like that is all they do now. And why would that one guy come on TV and say he robbed a bank when he was 15 and went to jail for "4 birthdays"? Why would that make you feel sorry for him?

I am so ready to get past these auditions. I am ready to see what Luke will do this season!! And the other few really good contestants I have noticed during the auditions.

Mary (12 shows and counting!)

I get real upset when they show preview clips of ppl who seem to be good and then when they actually air it they just show them with their yellow paper. I bet those are the good ones! Still waiting on for the good ones, hopefully LA has something.

*Laurie*

there was too much talent last night!! It was crazy but there was a few people that were okay I guess. I will probably watch part of Hollywood week and see if I can get into it and watch the whole season.

Shania did a good job and was crackign me up at times. That one asian guy she just could not stop talking about. It was crazy and I was like wow. The show is not missing Paula at all imo.

The last few seasons I've gotten sick of the auditions after the first 2 weeks. Same thing this year - I'm sick of the auditions, but I'll still watch them just because. I almost get more sick of them needing to show some sappy build-up story for every good contestant, and then showing 5 bad contestants for each good one. It all just gets really annoying. They used to do a good job with the audition episodes, but they've been lacking more recently. But I am interested to see what that one guy did to require him to be forcibly removed from the audition room (I think he's on tonight - saw him in the preview last night).

--Steph--

DAUGHTRY ROCKS...'nuff said!

I liked the first blond curly haired girl. I really don't think we needed to know about her parents divorce. The guy from Pittsburgh made my hometown proud!! I thought Shania did a good job.
I'm with those who say they like Hollywood Week and on. The auditions are ok, can be funny ("Pants on the Ground" is catching on! Even with Brett Favre and the Vikings!) But I like really getting to know them in Hollywood week and especially Top 24.

~*Pam*~

I am just not getting into the auditions this year...I am ready for Hollywood Week!!!

Mary (12 shows and counting!)

Interesting article. It has had a great run and brought us Daughtry...so what more can you ask for! It will be weird to see the show retire.

~*Pam*~

Mary, I like Luke too. Smiling

Terri

Luke Shaffer is my guy so far...he sang Fall For You on the Tuesday show. The guy that came after him, I think his name was Benjamin, who sang All My Loving by The Beatles was really good too. I also liked Tyler Grady, he was the drummer that busted up both hands/arms falling out of a tree, ha!
