I am a fan (and you should be too), because... Daughtry is connected. Too many bands forget where they came from and how they got where they are. Not the Daughtry guys. Despite being told by his producers that this CD would be a smash, Chris choose small venues over large coliseums. Now that's classy and grounded!! The coliseums are great for serving the masses and Daughtry could and will easily fill them. But, we've all been there. There's no connection!! Maybe a few people in the front rows get a little hand smack or a sweat drip, but the rest, nothing! In these small venues we can truly live and breathe with Daughtry. I can feel the intensity of the music up close. Then, I can mingle with JP and discuss his hairstyle or his kids. I can chit-chat with Josh and lament the difficulties with the older sibling once the baby comes along. I can schmooze with Joey and have him sing a bar or two of "Always" to make me swoone. I can have Brian's lovely locks caress my cheek as we take a picture. And, despite the intense security surrounding the man that started it all, there's a chance I might get time with Chris to say, "How's it going? Great show tonight!!" This kind of interaction is unheard of by a group of this caliber and it's amazing. Congratulations Daughtry!! I'm proud to be connected.
