Well, I'm kind of starting to realize how lame Canada is when it comes to the music scene. We JUST started pumping out teenie-bopper pop artists...pop is dead. Apparently the music execs here in Canada are extremly out of touch with the music scene. I auditioned recently for Canadian Idol ( a very cheap imitation of American Idol). I was very inspired by Chris Daughtry with his normal life before Idol. I have a life very similar to his, as I am a singer songwriter, always with a tune in my head, working a job I don't like, trying to raise my family as best I can. Since I'm looking for exposure as a singer, I figure I'll take whatever I can get.
I went to Montreal for the audtions. Waited in line for 4 hours before my turn infront of the music director. I sang a rock song...MISTAKE! They obviously have an idea of what they're looking for for their next puppet. He was a hip hop guy, so rock really ain't his thang...but I got good comments...We liked your vibe, you have a great style which matches your singing. You were on key, on pitch...blah blah blah...now here's the best part. "We don't think that our target audience ( being what??? Seniors and ten year olds??) is ready for the rock thing and being 27 we're not sure they could relate to you, but in some other capacity you could be marketable". WHAT IS THIS JUNK?! HOLY CRAP! So I got cut. Canada is so out of touch! Have they been to any live shows lately??? All the kids are listening to rock and thrash metal! I don't see too many kids lining up to see Nelly Furtado ( it's all the middle aged folks going to see her, not the teens). I went to the Evanescence concert and it was PACKED with younger kids...AMY LEE is 26 and they relate to her...how come they think that, me being 27, the audience won't relate to me???

HMMMMMMM.....
So here's the thing...I think I need to become an AMERICAN so I can be in a world who is in touch with what's happening right now in the music scene! What'd y'all think?
And this weekend I'm going to the Ottawa auditions, and I'm going to sing COUNTRY! Cause country never dies! And apparently being true to myself ain't getting me anywhere! Thanks for letting me rant...I feel better now!

P.P.S. I like what you did with Absent Element...hopefully your next album will have a few more edgier tunes like that.
