I read that Simon Cowell was snubbed by Jennifer Hudson when she did not thank Idol for her big break which led to Dreamgirls. . . . Simon was a bit frustrated, and continued to dis a few Idols who did not credit Idol with their success, and he dissed Taylor Hicks too! Below is the article that I read. (what was said during some Directors Guild panel discussion.
And for some reason, he felt the need to take a jab at JENNIFER HUDSON and TAYLOR HICKS.
As you may recall, Jennifer decided NOT to thank "Idol" during her on-stage acceptance speech after winning the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance in "Dreamgirls". She'd previously said that "Idol" was just a, quote, "stepping stone" for her.
Simon... who wished Jennifer luck BEFORE the Oscars. . . was not happy about being snubbed. On Thursday, he said, quote, "Stepping stone? It was her big opportunity to become noticed and she got noticed and she got 'Dreamgirls'."
He added that he's disappointed when contestants turn against "Idol" after they make it big. He said, quote, "The reason [people] come on the show is because all the doors had been slammed in their face."
Simon also questioned the star potential of Taylor Hicks... who won last season's competition. He said, quote, "[PAULA ABDUL and RANDY JACKSON] loved him. I couldn't stand him. I didn't get it. At the end of the day you have to find a bona fide recording artist.
"Just because you win the show doesn't mean you will sell a lot of records. CHRIS [DAUGHTRY] is the one who sold the albums, not Taylor."
