I often think about what it must have been like to be YOU writing and recording these songs last summer and early fall. After singing great (but not your own) songs on Idol, I think about what it must have been like to get into the studio and create something that's entirely YOU. It gives me chills thinking about how awesome that process must have felt. As your loyal fans were playing your versions of Hemmorhage or Walk the Line over and over, you were already creating new and exciting stuff. It must have felt like the most amazing secret that you couldn't share with everyone until November!
You pack a lot of thought and emotion into each song. You stayed true to yourself artistically. The entire CD sounds like you. Perhaps that doesn't sound like a compliment, but with so many overly mixed tracks out there these days, it means a lot. It's hard to pick favorites...kind of like children where you love each the same but differently. From the hard rocking tunes of There and Back Again and Crashed to the catchy and smash hit potential of Over You and Used To to the more haunting songs of Breakdown, Gone and All These Lives--I LOVE THEM ALL.
Congrats on an awesome debut CD. With the quality of writing and singing on this CD, it's hard to believe it's your first. I am sure you're already running through lyrics and stories in your head for the next CD. I'll look forward to the fruition of those secrets in a couple of years. All the best to ya! You've ARRIVED.
