I remember when we were driving in a van on the way to one of our press gigs and our manager asked us if we had any plans for New Years. I remember thinking 'Oh *@!*', that's my anniversary with Mary and she would be so bummed if we weren't together. Then the boss started explaining what the gig was, one song in Times Square for a million plus people.....I was instantly torn between being at home with my family or playing the biggest gig in the world. So then I asked him what are the chances of being able to bring my wife….He said no problem!! and it was on!!!
So three days ago we pull in to NYC to perfect New York weather. We were greeted by a driver holding a sign with our name on it and taken to a hotel 1/2 block from where I would be playing. Talk about perfect! We went and had an incredible dinner at a French restaurant and hit a couple bars but hit the sack early. The next day we woke to a packed Times Square where we were hoping to walk around and shop a bit. But tooooo packed. We ate at Bubba Gumps for the first time and watched the madness unrolling from above. We barely made it across the street in time for rehearsal. The rehearsal was awesome and there were already so many people there. I couldn't imagine it getting any more packed. After that we made it back to the hotel and I tried to meditate for awhile before the show, but the music was soo loud from times square that it was hard to relax. I was so excited. Then the call came.
So we got ready and were escorted to Planet Hollywood, which would be our base camp. The band members were led away and our friends and family were able to watch from Arnolds private theater. When we got to the stage, we were waiting for the band onstage to end.
The crowd was soooo loud, I couldn't even hear the music 30 feet away. My heart began to race when they said it was our turn. We headed up the stairs one at a time and one by one our jaws dropped as we hit the top of the stairs.
1.4 million people!!!!!! focused on us. It went so smoothly, it was like a dream come true. A dream I've been dreaming for 23 years. I saw myself on the jumbo tron while I was playing and I was watching Chris hit every note perfectly. We were all rockin. Directly in front of us were 30 TV cameras and photographers from all around the world to capture the best day of our lives. The song was short and sweet and I was police escorted in time to kiss my wife for our anniversary. Priceless Thanks again to all the Daughtry fans for making that dream come true.
I will never forget that day.
Josh Steely

Odessa concert was Awesome!
You are so sincere and such a nice guy; I saw Daughtry last weekend in Odessa, and have to say that it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. I am sorry that I didn't get to meet you, but I hope I will get to at another concert. We appreciate all of you taking the time to entertain us, and be away from your family for so long. I honestly don't know if I would be a strong enough person to do so; that is why I am a fan, and not an entertainer. I love music, though, all kinds, even jazz and blues. I don't have a preference, it is the music that captures me, and Daughtry has definitely done that! I think God will bless you because you have blessed others in your life. Loved the concert! Can't wait to see you again!

Portland show rocked!!!
Josh~
It was great talking with you & hopefully you will make it back to Portland soon for another intimate show, before the big stadium ones. You guys have a long career coming & deserve everything!! Have a blast out there & congrats on the little one on the way!
Just wanted to say my friend Carri & I saw you guys at Berbati's in Portland last week & you rocked the house!! What an amazing show & a great time! We were in the bar after the show & got to chat with you for a bit. It was very obvious that you are a family man first & were just there to unwind a bit before getting back on the bus. How refreshing & nice to see
A huge Chris fan & now one of yours too

Sacramento Fan
Hey Josh - It was great to chat with you after the show in San Francisco. I was the fan with the Daughtry shirt and the earplugs (so I'd have fresh ears for you guys!!) Thanks so much for taking the time to say hi. I'm a huge fan of the entire band and am really proud of your success. The drive to SF from SacTown was totally worth it and we hope to find a way into your show on Thursday in Sacramento. Keep rockin' and know that I'm a fan for life!!!
Jennifer
PS. Even my 5 year old daughter knows every word to every song on the album!
I missed it
Partying in Florida at the time-missed the show.....
Great that you got to share it with your wife. Great story. Sound like you are a great family man--just add it to another one of your "greatness"
Cant wait to see ya at Bogarts and hopefully Birdy's
Park 'N Fly
Hey Josh
Just checkin in and sayin howdy. Saw your NFC Gig and of course the Time Square and after interview. Did you park with us again when you headed out to Chicago? Keep writing and Hi to Mary, Tom (PNF Driver)
Free Train Ride
Hey Josh, I'm the Amtrak conductor that charged you the extra on board fare a couple of weeks ago - if I'd realized who you were before I wrote it up I would have let you ride free - next time your train ride is on me if you're on my train. Was hoping to catch your concert at Belly Up in Solana Beach, but it was sold out by the time I was able to check on tickets. I'll definitely make sure I get to the next show you do in the San Diego area. Got your CD finally, love it - you guys keep rockin!

Chicago HOB show ********************AWESOME
Josh,
It was cold outside, but it was HOT in the HOB!
The show last night was INCREDIBLE!!!! The best part, I was right in front of you!!!! You ALL sounded and looked HOT, which is to be expected!!! I took a bunch of pics...which I will post later, but, I have to catch up on everything that is piled up on my counters from "taking the day off" first! I have some great close-ups of you and Chris.
Hey, and thanks for the guitar pick! My girls tried to confiscate it today! That is NOT for sharing!!!
I wished my sister would have taken a picture of us at the meet and greet. Maybe another time!
Good luck on the road -- see you in March!
Linda
HEY -- I just found out something that is breaking my little heart. I scored a VIP pass from my friend (local TV network) and just heard that the VIPs (which were mostly radio employees, btw....grrrrrr) were suppose to have another meet and greet after the show! Is that true? DID I MISS MY PHOTO OPPORTUNITY WHEN I HAD THE VIP NECKLACE ON????? PLEASE SAY IT ISN'T SO! You have no idea how upset I am. I am hoping there will be a chance at Double Door. My goodness, what are the chances that you read this??? I am hoping you do!!
AWWWWW, JOSH!
You're so sweet! That's why I love ya so much! =D
Enjoy this truly rockin' new year it'll be for you and the rest of the boys! =D
Much love,
~Country~

I'm living large out in Denver now and everything is going my my. My old roomate Derric and his band Holiday and the Adventure Pop Collective just came through Colorado on a two week tour. They played at my house for my Christmas Party. We had a great time.

Can't logon!
I have tried several times to register as a Daughtry fan and I am not getting my password so I can't logon. I'm getting frustrated, the site keeps telling me it is sending a password or further instructions but nothing is coming to my email adress! What next? I've been following Chris since I first saw him on AI and I am a huge fan of Daughtry. Please help.
Josh, you are welcome!
Ok Josh is the biggest sweetheart ever, and i am so glad you had such an amazing experience at times square! im so happy for all the guyd in daughtry because this year is going to be huge for you all and its only getting started! im behind you guys 100% and i so wish i could have been there in new york to see you live! but i dont think i could have handled the madness and watching it on tv was probably better anyway. The song was amazing and you guys hit it right on, amazing job!!!
Sweet
That is so sweet. My favorite musicians are the ones with big hearts..like you. Can't wait to see you guys play!
Wow...what a guy
Wow... thats sweet that you did that for your wife. Thats weird...My anniversary was also on New years Eve, and It seems that my boyfriend couldnt choose between doing something else, or spending it with me. He ended up spending it elsewhere and we are now broken up. It seems amazing you found a way and included her into your plans, thats sweet, sounds like a perfect night... I guess not all guys are completely selfish. Keep up the good work guys. You really Rock!! That sounds like quite an anniversary... Good for you.
Don't let fame change you! You rock!
As much as AI sucks some times the best thing ever to come out of the machine was Chris Daughtry!
One of the things that made me appreciate him personally was that he was a family man. I'm so glad to hear that the rest of you guys are like that too... makes me want to play the album 24-7. (I've been taking breaks to sleep... sorry!)
The show itself kind of sucked... you guys were the one and only thing that saved it for me. I actually was disappointed when I saw your opening act on again... cuz I thought her performance was pathetic compared to you guys. You didn't seem to let the noise or weather bother you at all... you just rocked it!!
Keep it up! Don't let fame F* you up... and come to NH soon!! I want to see you guys in concert!!
Awesome
You guys are AWESOME i have watch Chris ever since he was on AMERICAM IDOL and love him then and love you guys even more. Awesome Blog so sweet you go to be with your wife very special moment. Good Luck to you all and keep rocking.
I am so happy for you!!
Thank you for sharing. That is awesome. I'm very glad your wife got to be a part of it. That is THE way to start the best year ever!! Hold on guys, you are going ALL THE WAY!!
YES!
I knew you were having a great time in Times Square! It was soooo cool to see you smiling and just being on top of the world! I definately enjoyed the performance from everyone! I have it recorded to watch over and over! Thank you for sharing your heart and bring real! You are such a sweetie!
Love yA!
awesome...
Although this word is horribly overused in today's culture, it's appropriate when describing the New Year's Eve show in Times Square. I am something of a live performance snob, because it's rare that any band can bring it off as good live as they can in studio. You guys were....well, pretty perfect. Great vocals Chris and Joey. Every note nailed. Amazing presence and to top it off, you looked like you were having the time of your lives! Thanks for representin' the 'Boro so well. I'm now an official damn fan.
~Patricia
Woudn't have missed it!
I planned my New Year's Eve around that performance, I wouldn't have missed it for nothing! I think it is so amazing what's happening for Daughtry right now and to be able to share as much as possible with your family is an even greater blessing. Thank you for all that you add to making Daughtry the best band ever!
HOT CD
Hey Josh! I'm predicting a VERY Big year for you guys! The album is Awesome, can't wait to see you guys live! BEST WISHES! John
Awesome
I'm so proud of you guys! I couldn't wait for you to come out and preform on New Years Eve. I watched from home with anticipation. It was a perfect performance!!! Daughtry Rocks! I love it! I was also excited to find out you were going on tour at the end of the month. I'm hoping you will be somewhere close to the SF Bay Area soon! I want to see you guys live! Best wishes to you all for the new year! Hope to see you soon.
Love ya,
Shannon

Thinking of your wife and wanting to share a monumental moment with her! Letting her feel what you are feeling is awesome. My daughter went to New York on Jan 2nd, 2007. She missed your preformance..but the first thing she did was go to time square and played your song on her mp3!
Enjoy 2007 it is very deserving and don't forget you MUST have LOTS of inner strength or a higher power that keeps you grounded!
PhaZe2

First and foremost congratulations on your anniversary Josh and Mary!! Wish you many more years to come! You were the ONLY band I watched I might add lol! I wish you guys all the best of luck!!
So proud!
I watched Chris start on American Idol from the beginning and followed him through now...like so many others. When I saw all of you guys on NYE (BTW...I taped it in case I wasnt in front of the TV to see it....) I was so proud of you guys! You all sounded fantastic. Congrats on pulling off a great performance! Happy belated anniversary too!

So happy for ALL of you AND your families!!!
The World is Yours
Josh thank you so much for sharing your NYE experience. I was reading out loud to my friend and had to stop several times because I was crying...I am so proud of all of you...expecially Chris. I've been a fan of his since day one on AI5, and to think that one year later he and his new band are performing in Times Square on NYE for over a billion people worldwide. And you guys were perfect and did such an amazing job. I was at Jimmy Kimmel's show and saw how attentative you were to your wife, and I think that's why DAUGHTRY is going to be so successful. You guys are real. You love your families, you have your priorities right and I pray then never change. The concer that night was unforgetable. I'll be at the Viper Room on the 11th along with 38 other diehard fans from mrdaughtry.com. WE LOVE you guys and we know just how talented you all are and I too feel like a proud mom. Again, thank you for sharing. See you next week:)
