Anybody want to hear about my trip?? Well if you do, read on
Tuesday April 15, 2008....TAX DAY!!! Did you all get them done in time? LOL Well the last thing I was thinking about was our taxes!
I was up at 3:30AM, yes you read that right, to get ready for the day. I got myself ready and then woke Ash up. We were out the door at 4:00 and headed to the Philly airport. The roads were desolate, the sky was unbelievably clear...beautiful.
We breezed thru security.... only to find we went to the wrong terminal! LOL So back out we went. UGH We passed thru security again and headed to our terminal to wait for the flight. We took off around 6:45. I really thought Ash would have freaked out and wanted to back down, but she did awesome! This flight made a stop in Colombus Oh before heading onto St. Louis, Mo where we were scheduled to change planes. As we flew into the airport in St. Louis we got a beautiful view of the Mississippi River and the famed Arch. Very cool!!! We had a 2 hr layover there so we walked around a bit and grabbed something to eat. Before we knew it, it was time to leave for OKC!
The midwest was very windy, so the landing was a bit turbulent. But it was not terrible. We arrived in OKC around 12:30pm. We summoned a shuttle van and headed to the hotel. The van driver gave us a nice little tour of the area while we drove. We saw the headquarters for Sonic! mmmmmmmmm, lol. We got to the hotel around 1pm. They let us check in early, thank goodness cause we were pretty tired. I decided to try to get a nap in, but I was too excited to sleep! lol Ash took a little nap though. After a little rest (just chilling, no sleep) I decided to get ready for the evening. I let Ash sleep until around 3 or so and made her get up to get ready too. "Mom, I don't care about my hair!" OMG! This is so not my child! LMAO Around 4pm we had the front desk call a taxi for us to go in town to the Ford Center. Once there we checked for our tickets and of course they were not there yet. She said they would probably be there around 6ish. We chatted a bit with guy from across the pond (England) who was following Bon Jovi around the wrold! How cool!! But, I can't help to wonder how people can afford to do that! lol We decided to walk around a bit and grabbed some food at an Italian place. Around 5:00 or so we headed back to the Ford Center where we met up with Brandy and Amanda (Fellow VIPers.) They were awesome! We hung out with them while waiting for our tickets. As we continued to wait we met up with Nicole and Tye (the other set of VIPers) as well. We finally got our tix around 6:20! OMG! This is sooooooooo real now!!! All 6 of us were seated together in section 106 row D. The seats were great! (much better than my Philly seats! lol) We were told to be in our seats by 7pm...and we were. We sat there waiting for something to happen (I know some other VIP winners got to watch the show from the platform by the stage.) But, we were not so lucky Oh well, we were there and Daughtry was about to hit the stage!!! WOOHOO!!
Around 7:30, Daughtry rocked the house! We were out of our seats screaming, dancing, singing, just having an amazing time for his entire set! It was hot!!! The crowd showed them all kinds of love and respect God, everytime I hear these guys play, I become more addicted to them! lol
OK, so the good stuff After his set was over, the 6 of us filed out of our seas and headed back the tunnel to meet and greet the boys. There was a lot of people back there, but we were placed at the back of the line given we were Daughtry Official winners. Everyone else was given strict instructions to put cameras and cell phones away. We were the only ones allowed to get a picture with the band
Ash and I were the first of the group to meet the boys OMG,OMG,OMG! I'm pretty sure I made an ass of myself, lmao. But they each signed a band pic we were given and Chris signed a pic I had brought along for Sammy. I gave him a copy of the pic to keep (It's a pic of her that says :I love you, Chris Daughtry!") He is awesome! They are all so awesome!! After they were done signing, they came from behind the table and gathered with us for a picture. I called Chris and Steely! LMAO Touching them and wrapping my arms around them made them soooooooooooooo real!!! It was freaking awesome! Then our turn was done. It was not a lengthy encounter, but it was amazing none the less. I feel blessed to have been given this opportunity
By the time we were done, Bon Jovi had hit the stage and the place was alive again! We quick grabbed our Daugthry t-shirts from the merchandise stand and headed back to our seats. They (Bon Jovi) were on fire! We were out of our seats for most of this show too! lol Around 10pm, the exhaustion finally set in and we both sat in our seats.
We stayed till their last song of the set and then headed out. We did not stay for the encore. I was in the back of my mind worried about finding a taxi back to the hotel if we exited with the other 10,000 people there. BUt once outside I hailed down a cab and we were on our way.... an amazing night, an even more amazing memory.
We pretty much went straight to bed when we got back to the hotel. We were both so exhausted. And we knew we would have a long day ahead of us on Wednesday.
Wednesday morning we were up and dressed and waiting a shuttle van by 7am. We arrived at the airport in OKC around 7:40 and sailed thru security again. Our flight took off around 9:30am. We made a stop in Kansas City, Mo and another in Chicago, Il. Again it was pretty windy so it was not a smooth flight, but it was tolerable. On the flight from Chicago to Philly we flew over Lake Michigan and Lake Erie. That was really cool!
We arrived back in Philly around 4pm and then made the drive home.
So that's our trip in a nutshell. I am so glad we went We saw parts of the US we have never seen before (and may never see again), we attended a rockin concert, met some new friends, and met my favorite band... Daughtry
As Bon Jovi sings : "You wanna make a memory, You wanna steal a piece of time" And that's just what we did... we stole a piece of time and made a memory
if you wanna check out the pics, they are on MySpace. I will try to upload some here when I get a chance
There and Back Again... OKC VIP experience :)
