Why I am a fan

I am a fan (and you should be too), because...

“Will you listen to my story I’ll just be a minute
To explain” why I am Daughtry fan
And how your songs, became my life song,
Shared with close friends in my home
and total strangers in a bar,
hard-working men and women,
Talking, drinking, dancing, thinking,
Listening to your songs for the first time.
now your songs are their songs too,
our songs, our lives, our voices blend,
“keep it together now!”,
more fans, one band.
DAUGHTRY.

I was going home, listening to your band,
When I first crashed into DAUGHTRY
“I was blown away, what could I say.”
And I listened, "more than you, more than you know”
And sang along till the songs were mine too,
I can hear them all running timelessly in my mind,

In your lyrics, “you always had just the right thing to say”
“you saved me, you gave me just what I need
Oh, just what I need.” And I didn't know it then
but I too would soon meet the needs of friends and strangers
through love and music, your song, Daughtry.

I sang along, and I knew I wanted more
“Cause what I want and what I need
Has now become the same thing you’d been offering.”
I thought to myself,
how can I, too, make an offering to others
When I have no money?

You sang, “feeling good don’t ever cost a thing”
I had the time to feel alive, to shine and feel good:
You sang, “Take, take your time,
Smell the roses, but steal the vines.
Don’t wait for the hands of time
To second guess and change your mind.
And shine. Here’s your moment to shine.”
and I knew I needed more right now.
I knew that I could shine right here, right now.

I had no money, so I shared your songs, my music with friends,
And brought your CD to bars to share with strangers,
Leaving my CD with DJs to play for other lonely hopeful hearts
You sang, “And it feels like tonight
You showed me what’s right”
“What about now? What about today?
So I seized the here and now, and felt the light shine within me.
It felt right and I didn't second guess myself,
Nor worry that I might not get my CD back,
Your songs rang in my mind, in my soul,
in my life and in the live of friends and strangers.

And so your songs, became my life song,
I am a fan who shared your music
With friends in my home and lonely, hopeful strangers
Offering CDs in a bar -
now your songs are their songs too,
our songs, our lives, our songs blend,
“keep it together now!”,
more people singing,
friends & strangers connected,
one band.
DAUGHTRY.
