11. Before his premature elimination, Daughtry was pegged as an "Idol" season 5 slam dunk, with Entertainment Weekly bravely opining that he was, "the surest thing in Idol history."
12. Longhaired "Idol" rocker Bo Bice inspired Daughtry to give the show a try and he auditioned for the gig by singing "The Letter" with the Boxtops.
13. After "Idol," he was reluctant to play a rock station festival, fearing the audience would boo him. He not only got props from the crowd, Rob Zombie watched the show and was a big fan.

18."Idol" wasn't the first reality TV show Daughtry tried out for. In 2005, he also auditioned for "Rock Star: INXS" and didn't make the final cut.
19. He told Men's Fitness, "I was blessed with a nice head. I was always scared to shave it because I figured I would have some weird birthmark I didn't know about."
20. He's a family man. He's been married to wife Deanna for seven years and he's raising her step-daughter from a previous marriage and an adopted son.
