As a huge music fan, I was skeptical when I first started watching American Idol. I was pretty sure that it was going to hurt the music industry with it's made from scratch success stories. But I got sucked into the second season and the rest is history. But when I saw Chris Daughtry perform... I knew I was watching something really huge unfold before my eyes.
Chris Daughtry obviously made the right decision by going out on his own and choosing the right men to be in his band DAUGHTRY. When I opened up that cd case and put it in for the first time I was hooked beyond belief. The voice that came out of my speakers amazed me. The guitar riffs were awesome and I kept finding myself strumming along playing air guitar right along with the music. I'm constantly tapping my feet to the rythmn of the drums.
DAUGHTRY's album is in a word,... phenomenal. I was afraid that appealing to a wider audience to suck in that top 40 edge would somehow sacrifice that sound that Chris Daughtry was all about. But he succeeded magnificantly in balancing the rock songs right along with those songs that had that radio friendly appeal. It's hard for me even to pick a favorite song off of the debut album. "Its Not Over" was a great choice to release as the album's first track to hit air waves. I would say that "Crashed" is the song that makes me get into the music the most. I'm often singing the chorus in the shower or annoying my co-workers with it at work (only because my voice is not worthy of singing outloud!) "There and Back Again" has the best opening hook that's come out in a long time. It gets me every time. This is the rock song that I was waiting to hear. I song is like the epitome of what a rock song should sound like!!!
Overall, I love the sound that has been put out. I'm looking forward to the tour... and already looking forward to the sophomore album!!!
