There are plenty of reasons why I consider myself a fan of Daughtry. Throughout the years I have liked plenty of bands, and have gone to a few concerts here and there. But Daughtry has been the only band that I would hop on a plane, take out new credit cards to pay for tickets and hotels, and use up all my sick days to go see. Their music is amazing and each songs sends a special message to the listener. But what makes the band even more special is the pure passion that each member oozes when they’re on stage. And that is one thing that each and every fan of theirs has been able to see. The bands own excitement of being on that stage, emanates into the crowd every single show and I just feel honored to have been able to witness it.
Once you see one Daughtry show you instantly become addicted. You have Chris Daughtry, who poured his entire heart and soul into this music. And to perfect his music chose the perfect band to back him up. Even if you have never met Chris, it’s obvious that he puts everything he has into his performance each and every show and gives 100% to his fans. His appreciation for his fans is another huge aspect as to why I’m a fan. A lot of fans go out of their way to make Daughtry shows, and to know how much that is appreciated makes the experience absolutely priceless. Other than Chris, you have Joey Barnes who loves the spotlight (as he should) and getting the girls all riled up in the audience. Josh Paul who’s all over the stage putting all his energy into a great song, Brian Craddock who I have yet to see live, but have heard how wonderful he is with Daughtry… and last but not least Josh Steely and anyone can see his dreams came true when he joined this band.
And then there’s the music. The main reason why I’m a fan. Every single person that has listened to these songs, can relate to them in some way. They talk about heart ache, happiness, and the trials and tribulations of failed relationships that everyone has experienced at least once in their lifetime. When I first listened to “It’s Not Over,†I had to smile. The message I got from this song simply told me that when things aren’t going to well to just push through it, try again, it’s not over pure and simple. The lyrics in “Home,†“be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it all,†is incredible advice for anyone because I know personally that when something you wished for happens, you sometimes can’t handle it like you thought you could or wanted to be able to. “Over You,†means a lot to me because one of my best friends ended a seven year relationship with her boyfriend a few months ago. It may sound cliched but I’m not kidding when I say this song helped her get through a really tough period in her life. So I am so grateful for that, and it meant a lot to me to see her finally push through this difficult challenge.
I could go on forever but I won’t. These are just a few of the reasons why I call myself a Daughtry fan.
