(This was from a few weeks ago, shortly after the interview, and at the beginning of this A.I Season.....)
A local radio station morning host pissed me off this morning, so I couldn't resist emailing RE: his BS comments. This is what I wrote to him:
I am a loyal fan of Chris Daughtry and his band and I was very upset this morning when I heard you, for lack of a better word, "bad-mouthing" him.
This is in response to your comments about Chris Daughtry's Rolling Stone interview.
1. If you go to the official Daughtry website- daughtryofficial.com, you will see that Chris has written a note explaining what he said during that interview and also explaining that Rolling Stone left out all of the good comments that Chris made about the show.
2. I am a big fan of American Idol, but alot of the things he said are true. There was a huge article in the Prov. Journal yesterday stating the facts that American Idol ratings have dropped and that the summer concert tour had alot of empty seats last year. Also, Chris said that it is annoying that during the first 3 weeks or so of American Idol, they waste time showing all the bad singers. That is also a true statement. Out of the 2 hours the show was on last night, 90% of the singers were horrible. Yes, some of them might be funny, but it gets a little sickening to see that for 3 weeks or so. Your comment, " American Idol will always have an audience, but Chris Daughtry will not always have fans" is 100% incorrect. Chris Daughtry is the best singer that was ever on American Idol, along with Carrie Underwood. He has proved that he has amazing talent. Having met him two times, and seen him live 12 times, I can also say that he is a genuine, nice guy. He has TONS of fans, that would never desert him. Obviously, he has more devoted fans than Taylor Hicks, Ruben Studdard, or Katherine McPhee, 2 of which were the "winners" of American Idol.
Basically, all that is left to say is this: Chris Daughtry knows that it all started for him on American Idol. That is what made him visible to the world and showed all of us his incredible talent. But, that doesn't mean that he has to praise the show now. I am sure he will never forget where his roots are, but he is entitled to say his opinion, and most of his comments were true facts, proved by the drop in the show's ratings. That's all I have to say. Thank you for your time.

Then, the guy wrote me back, which shocked me! Here is what he had to say:
~Liz.. I was relaying something that I had read. I began my statement by saying "I read something that said..." and then called it an interesting point. I'm sorry if you think I was "bad mouthing" Chris Daughtry. I think Chris' singing is great. He seemed like a nice guy on the show. He is a big part of the sound on our station.
I'll be sure to better qualify my position better next time.
Above all.. thanks for taking the time to write. The point of our show is not to just blab on without being called on our statements or positions. You've obviously done your research!
Thanks for listening!!
