As a fellow Aussie, to hear my favorite actor had passed away was shocking and sad. It put a sting into every day of that week as I found myself in mourning for the loss of someone I did not know & feeling churned about the pain his beautiful daughter Matilda, Michelle and his family back in Perth were enduring.

I feel it needs to be said that while the whole world was mourning, the media looked for the gossip, the controversy. Rather than focus on how he passed, where he passed, who with etc. the fact of the matter is Heath was an amazing and inspiring person. At such a young age he warmed the hearts of the masses with his craft and showed such passion for his family and friends. Heath was what I would say as "Living the Dream".

I hope that everyone takes a page from this golden book and looks to complete who they are in every day. Chris I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you for laying your legacy and creating hope for so many people and sharing your craft, just as Heath would.

Heath once said he could die peacefully knowing that he could see himself so heavily in his daughter. The spirit of greatness can be found in anyone including yourself.

May you rest peacefully Heath, your footprint on this earth will last through lifetimes and effect millions.

Thank you for writing about Heath. It upset me so much when I heard about his death, he just seemed like and was a genuine, good person from what people who knew him say. It was very unexpected and if it's that way for his fans, I can't imagine what his family and close friends are going through. The worst is, like you said, his daughter growing up without him (physically). It breaks my heart...All we can do is pray and remember him. I'll definitely miss him , he had so much ahead of him, good things. <33

I'm still trying to come to terms with his loss, he was my favorite actor, he was 5 years older than me, I still can't accept it that he's gone. My first thought was his daughter, and how she's never going to know her father. He worshipped his daughter and it's so sad. He was a true actor, not out there for the spotlight but for the love of acting. I pray for his family as well.

It is always sad when people die when they are so young. I will join with you in praying for his family during this time of loss.

i didnt particularly follow Heath Ledger's career closely but i was definitely anxious to see how his career would turn out. unfortunately a young man, and father was taken from us on this last week and i just waned to give my condolences to his family and friends and i wish them the best

You know how you watch a movie and appreciate an actor and at the end of the movie you just think to yourself, "Wow, it's going to be a sad day when they die." Well that's how it was. At first I was in shock, there is no way, but as soon as it sunk in I had myself a Heath Ledger movie night. So many people take his acting for granted, but being in "The Dark Knight" was going to help his career so much. My thoughts and prayers are with Michelle Williams and his baby girl Matilda.

This all brings back some daunting memories I have from Oct. 31, 1993 when another young actor was taken from us too soon. Seemed extremely shocking and I literally bawled for days. River Phoenix was my favorite actor back in the day and was so shocked that he died outside of Johnny Depp's Viper Room from a drug overdose. It was reported how vegan he was and wouldn't even take an aspirin for a headache! 23 years old and gone. Accidental, but the pressures put on young celebrities is just too much. I wasn't really a fan of Heath but certainly knew of him. When I heard he was going to be the Joker in the next Batman movie I immediately thought what a perfect person to play that role because he has a smile that just spreads across his face. Will be bittersweet to see him in that movie this summer. I am sure the loss for the family and friends of Heath is unbearable at this time, but know that it is times like this when people do show they care. (too bad it takes tragedy to bring out the best in us)None of us can escape death and we all have our time to go. Each life lost is tragic, celebrity or not. Expected or not. The loss is something that will never go away completely because they touch your soul and leave a part of themselves with you. Memories are fabulous but it still never compares to really being with that person again. Still, we need to believe that people do care and are compassionate. It is what gets us through this world. If no one cared or loved anyone, what would be our purpose to be here? I cannot imagine poor little Matilda without her Daddy. Thinking of children losing their parents so young is heartbreaking. The reversal seems even moreso because it is just not the time of things. Parents should not have to face losing their children. My thoughts and prayers go out to Heath's parents and Matilda. May Heath rest in eternal peace.

I want to be rockin' out to Daughtry for decades! (Ya think Heaven will let Daughtry headline at the pearly gates when they bring me "Home"?) Oh wait - you are younger than me - you better not be there before me! Life is short - let us focus on loving one another - that is our greatest commandment.

Just goes to show you that fame, fortune, and money doesn't really matter in the real world...although I wasn't a big Heath Ledger fan (I only saw one or two of his movies) obviously he was a man that had other deep issues that he felt he could not deal with...my prayers go out to his daughter and family.

I adored him in his movies. What a great person he was. It was a very disheartning to hear of such a tragic loss. You will be missed. May you rest in peace now.

I am all to familiar with what the loss of a loved one can do to you emotionally and phsyically. My deepest and sincere prayers goes out to the family and to the daughter. May God Bless the famly in the days to come although we know no understanding and are often left to adapt to the changes of what life has to offer it is never forgotten but we are able to gain strengh and be blessed that we had the time to share with him and have the memories that were left behind.

This is the first time i've been on D.O. in about a week and a rough one it has been. What is it about such sad news that makes even strangers feel compelled to share their feelings? I think it's the fact that we are all human and have all felt such loss in one way or another.
Obviously like most of you, I didn't know Heath personally. I've come to know him through the roles he brought to life on the big screen. I think what set him apart from his peers is the fact that he wasn't an actor for the attention. He was doing what he loved to do and what he was so great at doing.
Sitting there, watching the events of Heath's passing unfold last Tuesday, I was disgusted by all of the speculation about him and by the paparazzi clamoring for their "big money shots" of his lifeless body being removed from the building. Even though I still turn away from the TV as that scene is re-played over & over again, I find myself feeling guilty for feeling the need to watch all of the coverage. I realize that people die every day, people who aren't "famous", but Heath opened up his heart to all of us in the roles that he played not asking for anything in return. And for that he will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Heath's parents, sisters, Michelle, Matilda and all who knew and loved him.
I've included a link to a video from the TV show Dawson's Creek. In it, Michelle Williams' character, Jen, prepares a video for her young daughter who she will not live to see grow up. I've had this video on my myspace page just because it's one of my favorite scenes from the show, but in light of Heath's death, it seems to have taken on a new meaning. These words could almost be Heath's words to little Matilda..sad stuff

Heath Ledger's death was so unexpected, it shocked everyone. He was such a wonderful actor, I loved him in The Patriot. Even though he is physically gone, his spirit still lives on with us today. May the blessing of the Lord and everyone help his family with the pain of loss.

When my best friend told me the news, I seriously didn't believe her. And then I went on to Wikipedia and saw that his death was already posted. It was unbelievable. I honestly didn't think it was going to bother me as much as it did... But i can't stop thinking about it. I have actually cried a couple times. He was here just yesterday... and it is so hard to think that he isn't anymore- he isn't going to be in any more movies, in any more magazines, and he won't be able to spend any more time with his little girl. It is hard enough to think about him not being around, but when I think about matilda, my heart just breaks. she is so young and she won't be able to hold on to any memories of him. I just can't bear to think about it. and then I think of Michelle- I know they split up- but I can't even imagine how hard it must be for her. he was an amazing person and actor. The whole world is hurting right now and I just pray that his family and friends can get through this. If this is how I am feeling, I can only imagine what they are going through.

Heath, you blessed us with your presence and your work. you are incredibly missed and you will be remembered forever. rest in peace.

I am also 28, I was shocked as I first heard the news in a bulletin on my My Space. I was like no way, how?? It's sad that sometimes people are so stressed and so worn out that they accidentally take too much medicine, and in this case it was fatal. I find it VERY odd though that the massage therapist called Mary Kate Olsen before calling 911!! Can you smell something fishy?? I sure do. That was a VERY stupid and uncalled for thing to do!
The Ledger family is in my prayers, I know what it's like to lose a loved one so young. I just lost my 3 mo. old niece to SIDS. It was HARD.

Well I want to say that Heath will be greatly missed by everyone. At least everyone has seen at least one movie hes acted in. He was a great actor i loved him in "10 things i hate about you", "the patriot", & Brokeback Mountain. They were all great. I just cant get over the fact that he was only 28 and hes gone just like that. I feel for his family right now especially little Matilda only 2. I mean at that age its just so young to lose your dad. She will never actually get to know him. When your two and as you get older you don't remember much. Its just so sad. He wont be there when she first goes to school or he won't even get to walk her down the aisle when she gets married. Its just oh so sad=[. Well once again he will be greatly missed.
