I don't miss those cd:uk type shows as I think they gave 'priority' to manufactured acts. Those prepackaged money spinners that were the faces of business empires and little else. The market was flooded with them, and did untold amounts of damage to the British CD single scene.
I think only over the past few years has really talent come through the other side, and more and more guitar bands and singer songwriters receiving plaudits as that's where the quality is, and always was.
Sure the pop and R&B acts are still there, but I think it's the top tier of those types of acts that have managed to survive.
I don't think DJ's necessarily choose records to play, I think that's more down to producers and the rest. The difference between the A and B list? I'd think would be simply the A listed tracks are played more often than the B listed ones.
What is the difference between Radio 2's A and B list? Does the A list mean the DJ's have to play it and the B list only if the DJ feels like it?
I have to confess that i don't really get to listen to much radio as i'm too busy listening to a CD instead. So has 'Home' received much airplay? I agree with 'daughtryuk' that i heard it quite a bit October time on my local radio station - but nothing much recently.
I also agree with 'kiwifan', how a point is made of releasing the single, but you can't actually go to a shop and buy one anymore! So we are all a bit stuck really.
I personally really miss programmes like TOTP, CD:UK and Popworld - which gave a little 'slot' each week to give people an idea of what is around on the music scene, and artists an opportunity to perform live. I don't have time to sit and watch the music channels all day, waiting for someone to come up. So in some ways i think its sad how the 'music world' is all changing. Unless an artist manages to get the radio stations behind them and get good airplay, i can't see how artists can then go forward.
But i also agree chrisc that i don't think the British public have 'rejected' Daughtry - i just don't think that they have been introduced enough to them yet. I'm sure once that has happened, that they will take off here just as they have in the states.
Ooops - i think i had better be quiet now as i've gone on rather!

The singles charts, as far as I'm aware, are a a combination of physical and digital sales. Sales are way down, but the chart doesn't take into account airplay. I'm fairly certain of that...unless theres been a change recently but I haven't heard anything.
In terms of airplay, I think there is an airplay chart somewhere, but for playlists you would just have to go on to a radio station's individual website and access from there. The two big national stations, Radio 1 and Radio 2 show their playlists on the web.
Really sorry to hear that. Thing is though, that not many singles sell here in the shops either. Often wonder how the singles charts work when there's aren't many singles in the shops. And often none of the latest ones.
What about the radio though. Can you find out if it's on the air-play lists.
there was barely any news about Daughtry releasing home, no promotion or anything.
I think that it was ridiculous the way they released the video 2 months before actually releasing the single. There was so much interest on Kerrang and other music channels in Nov/Dec but by Jan some people seem to have forgotten how much they liked Daughtry when they saw the video on TV!
On the plus side, VH1 had a programme (which I presume was from the US) which was shown on Jan 1st and was called something like The Best Videos Of 2007. Daughtry came 2nd with "It's Not Over" and one of the people quoted on the show said it just goes to show, if you're going to lose a contest, lose American Idol" which I thought was quite a clever point seeing as Daughtry are MASSIVE and Kathrine McPhee as apparently been dropped by RCA.
Hey reet petite. Love your name, Jackie Wilson is a legend!!
Back on topic>> I wouldn't blame the Brits for 'rejecting' Daughtry. It's really just that the British audience never got the chance to make up their mind. I don't know whose fault it really is, but it rests squarely in the Daughtry camp if you ask me.
So once again us Brit fans have been left disappointed!
Home was released last Monday, but there has been little to no promotion over here, once again!!
I have been waiting with anticipation to see how well the sales have gone, and the single hasnt even made it onto this weeks official chart, not made it into the top '100' at all!! WTF?
What is wrong with RCA? surely they know how good the guys are?
I read a review the other day, saying how they thought that they could be huge over here! And cant understand why the record company arent promoting them, especially as Kelly Clarkson has done so well here!
But how is that gonna happen if no one knows about them?
I just dont understand it!!
They are the Biggest selling artists in the US, they have been over here and given 2 'sold out' (within a couple of hours) gigs, surely the record company must see the demand for them here? yet nothing is being done!
I really thought 'Home' would do well, if people got to hear it, but with no promotion, how the hell are they going too?!!!
I ordered a few copies from the HMV website last week for myself and family, haven't received or heard anything as yet so fingers crossed!!
On Monday, (release day), I phoned my nearest HMV store, (didnt want to drive all that way and be disappointed like last time!) to ask if they actually had the single in stock, but was told that as they don't sell that many singles anymore, it wouldnt physically be in the shop for sale, but I was quite welcome to come in and order it from them.
I have also downloaded 'Home' & 'Gone' (just in case) from HMV for £1.98, it's easy and recommend everyone do it!! NOW!!!!!
I 'really' hope it does well!!!
SO PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE GO DOWNLOAD OR ORDER IT PLEASE!!!!!!!

It's a link to the HMV website. Says the Home single is currently out of stock. That to me is very suspicious if the single was indeed out on Monday. Suggests to me it wasn't.
Try what I did this morning! I sent info about the 'Home' win along with link to the results site, to main radio stations here in NZ.
One radio station just played part of Chris's acceptance speech and 'Feels like tonight' as I requested. They've put the results link on their web-site.
Could sent info and ask to hear 'Home'. The more requests the radio stations get right now, the better. But you know that.

Monday - that was yesterday for me! So soon for you!
Do so hope it's promoted and people get to hear it. Know you'll all be listening out. Just keep requesting over and over too - every one of you in the UK!
"Home' really must be accepted there. It is an amazing song. Just has to be heard.
Hey Kaz,
honestly I just hope that German radio stations rock the single to it's max.
Besides a few promo stops last year, Daughtry didn't get much publicity here.
The play "INO" quite often in the radio so I trying to think positive.
Cherrios and a wonderful weekend. See ya.

Would love the single to do well over here, but, alas, once again, not much or little promotion!
Ive seen Chris's MTV sessions of 'Home' once this past week, but have not seen the video at all and looked at next weeks new releases in the national newspapers and nothing|! Such a shame!!
But, I have to keep my chin up, you never know, it might do really well, but cant see it without any promotion, just wish the record company would pull its finger out!!

Home is on the BBC Radio 2 B List. Which is quite good actually.

Massive shame.
I too am really disappointed that 'Home' didn't make it into the charts.
The song deserved soooooo much better. I don't think that the Great British public quite know what they are missing just yet.
