WOW

Just read what happened and am sad for the people that missed seeing Daughtry, the dashed expectations because of a scumbag who called in a hoax, how sad for you all but glad everyone is safe, how devastating it would have been if something had happened.....I shudder at the thought...

~~in these ever changing days your the one thing that remains~~

Soooo Sorry for everyone that had to go through this ordeal!!

Thank goodness everyone is safe!!!

In Much Awe- Kim.in.MD

I had tickets for 6 months!! SOO excited to be able to see Daughtry!! Then the idiots had to put this bomb threat. I do NOT blame the bands for what happened afterwards. I do blame the areana and the promoters for making Daughtry go as soon as the doors opened and having 80-90% of us miss the show. I was so dissapointed. There were people at that show there JUST FOR DAUGHTRY! And they didn't get to see them. Daughtry was treated like a local band not the top selling artists of last year. To go out there and play for an empty arena, as if the rest of us didn't want to see him??????
I am still very upset about it. I want to see them live, what now? wait till the next tour?
I don't blame them for making us wait, I would've waited ALL night, but dont have us miss the opening act. SOOOOo wrong of that.

Not cool at all. You are entitled to your opinion but you didn't have to present it the way you did. We are all here to support each other and to support Daughtry, and most of us remember that on a daily basis. We are not here to ridicule people or tell people to "get over themselves". From what I read from the people that went to the show, they were relieved it was just a false alarm and were concerned for the safety of everyone at the show (the fans, the bands, everyone). It was just disappointing that someone had to go and ruin the night for everyone.

Many of the fans on this site traveled from far away and had every right to be sad that they missed Daughtry. I completely agree that safety was more important, but your post to "get over themselves and "the world doesn't revolve around them" was completely inappropriate. People come to the events pages to share their experiences with fellow DO fans that can sympathize. If you don't agree or like what you're reading then you need to find a different way to express it rather than ridiculing members who are simply venting to other members. I didn't even go to this show, but the "people" you are referring to are my friends and they deserve better than that!!

Rocked with Daughtry:

3/18/08 and 3/19/08 St. Paul VIP Winner

I won a VIP for the show and traveled for 4 hours to go to it. The long wait at the venue was worth it to make sure everyone stayed safe. I Got in the venue when "You Dont Belong" ended. It sucked because thats the song I wanted to hear. I've head all of them live except that one. we left for the meet and greet when "There and Back Agan" started because there was no way in Hell we were going to miss it. The bathroom line was too long. 2 different portal entries wouldnt let us in. We were at the VIP congegation area when the song ended. They told another group of women that it was cancelled, that DAUGHTRY didnt hve any meet and greets that night. We stayed put. No way any of us were leaving!! we were taken into where the boys would sign our stuff and they did come out for us. Luckily. I would have been so upset because I was looking forward to it since i found out I had gotten VIP tickets!! Im very thankful becuse I know they must have been so tired. They shortened their set by a few songs unfortunately. Bon Jovi was AMAZING. At least DAUGHTRY played at all. I got to see them again in St. Pete the next night. Their set ws AMAZING but Bon Jovi shortened their set by about 5 songs, and they weren't as good as the nigth before. I heard it was the shortest set they'd played on the tour so far.

First I want to say Lu I am SOOO SORRY we didnt get to meet up!! COME TO ATLANTA!!!! We will one of these times! We have so much to chat about!! I am soooo Happy you got in thee and got to see the boys!!

I understand the fans and the bands safety comes first! I truly felt for them! Honestly I expected to be canceled! I have nothing but respect for the Bands, their crews, the Police Dept, Fire Dept, Bomb Squads, ensuring everyones safety comes first!
I have every right to be sad that I missed the guys because of the long lines to get in, the pushing and shoving, etc.
20,000 people trying to SHOVE themsevles in the building at one time. Doors usually open an hour before as people slowly filter in.
It was an unfortunate situation to be a part of! Its all my fault for going in the wrong door I guess! Unfortunately the bomb scare did keep me away and it wasnt by choice!

I am grateful for the people I did get to meet, if I hadnt gone to Florida I wouldnt have met them! So I am taking comfort with that I met some new great friends over it!!! I am sorry that I didnt get to meet everyone I had wanted to though! Next time, I am sure there will be many many more shows!!

I am DONE with this show, and moving on to my next one which is Atlanta in a few days!!
I am not letting this keep me down!! FOCUS ON THE NEXT Smiling

thanks Lu for words of wisdom & respect of human beings.

I'm sure none of you wanted Daughtry or BonJovi to be hurt from the events
in Ft Lauderdale.................but and I'm sure I'll make enemies here, and personally I don't give a F*CK..............get over yourselves, it was an incident that happened & the world does not revolve around YOUR happiness. If all you care about is yourselves, then I don't believe you are TRUE Daughtry fans.

I hope Chris reads this. I am so diappointed I missed your performance. I got the tickets for my birthday and when I found out that you were opening! I was Beside my self!! My son wanted me not to go and let him have my ticket...I don't think so...lol. I just wanted to say thank you for coming out one last time and joining Jon and band for the Blaze of Glory song. It was Great!! I must say that even though someone tried ruining my night I still had a great time. Sure would love the opportunity to see you perform in person. May god bless you and your family.

Sincerely,
Linda

for those of you that didn't get into the venue in enough time to see Daughtry perform because of this unfortunate incident.

I wasn't there but, it sounds like they (the venue) just wanted to make sure they had the "all clear" so as not to put anyone (fans and band members alike) at risk.

I'm sure it was a tough decision for the guys to make in regard to even wanting to come onstage after such an upset like that. How nervewracking and scary that must have been for them!!

I hope those that didn't have the advantage last night can get to a show soon Smiling

I'm grateful.

Grateful a bomb did not go off and kill us all...

Grateful we're safe, and that the boys are too...

Grateful it wasn't cancelled...

Grateful to the band for playing all 6 glorious songs, despite rumors that they were not going to play at all. It must have been scary and nerve-wracking! I don't think anyone would have faulted them if they didn't want to play, but they are hard-core, and that's why we are too! Smiling

Grateful to the police officers and the bomb squads who went in, not knowing what they would find, and kept us safe! Heroes... Every one of them!

Grateful to the workers of the venue... They were the first ones back in, and that must have been scary!

Nice to know... even a bomb wouldn't keep Daughtry away from us!

Nice to know... even a bomb wouldn't keep us away from them! LOL

I'm so sorry for all of you who missed the set. I'm sad too, even though I was one of the lucky ones! ((hugs))

I'm just sad this happened at all.

Big hugs to this beautiful DO family!

My wife and I are a couple of fifty-somethings who traveled nearly 200 miles to see DAUGHTRY - been fans of Chris since we first watched him on AI. We were actually lucky enough to get into the arena and seated just as the band began their abbreviated set, but as we looked around us at the almost empty arena we knew most of the crowd wasn't going to get in in time to see them. We felt bad for them, but we also felt bad for the band as they weren't going to get the chance to feel the energy of the crowd coming back to them.

Anyway, many thanks to the band for making the best of a bad situation and doing it in a professional manner. The band sounds really tight and we'll just have to catch them next time they're in the Central Florida area. Maybe Bon Jovi will be opening for them next time!

In spite of the circumstances, we had a great night and got just enough of a DAUGHTRY fix to hold us until the next album & tour. See you then.

Pam & Tom

you would think there would be some recourse to all of us fans that missed seeing half the show! Why should we be out all that money when we didnt get what we paid for?

Ok, I'm an adult and I know that things happen and fortunately, everyone was safe. However, it still doesn't negate the fact that, after waiting all of that time outside (I too got there around 5:30pm) I got to see Mr. Daughtry say good night to everyone as I got to my seat was so devastating! We came from Orlando and as a teacher, it's not everyday that I can pay for a $150 ticket to watch Chris say good-bye. Please, don't get me wrong...I love Bon Jovi, I've seen them several times over the years. I wasn't there for JBJ this time, I was there for Daughtry! I was totally bummed and management told me it was the musicians who decided to go on, not the house management. I feel cheated! How am I supposed to ever see Chris? I loved the song he sang with JBJ, however I feel so cheated - what's a girl supposed to do now? Spend another $150 and pray? I am so totally bummed!!!

Thank God everyone is safe ! I couldnt believe what I was reading...there a some real sicko's out there...Lisa, what to say, girlie....I'm totally feeling for ya right now..sooo sorry. That had to be the worst feeling in the world.

I asm so sorry to those of you who missed our guys! I agree with Lisa, why couldn't they wait 30 more minutes before Daughtry came on stage? I mean come on! It was not just a Bon Jovi show, it was Daughtry and Bon Jovi! That kinda stinks!

Lisa - also a bummer, I know you tried so hard to get to this show and I am sorry you missed Daughtry! Bon Jovi never changes their set lists? Yeah that could get kind of annoying, especially with all of the songs they have, they should change it up a little.

--
Mary (4 shows and counting!)

I am so sorry you missed Daughtry. I know you are dissappointed and the whole night was craziness!
As for the BJ set, I am not sure why you are so upset about it. Yes, it was almost the same as Nashville but given the circumstances, I am grateful there was a set! Granted I have only done 16 shows this tour and I know you have done more, but I believe this tour has had more surprises than any other. They have really pulled some rare ones out and I guess I have been one of the lucky ones to be at most of the shows where they have happened. Luck of the draw I guess! I feel Jon chose to sing the staples last night to keep everything fun and rolling considering what everyone had been through. Sure he could have sang a bunch of rare songs, but let's face it...90% of the people there wouldn't have known them and gotten bored or even left since it was so late. I believe he did the right thing and played the basics. Believe me, after over a hundred shows, I could care less if I heard the "staples" again but that's what most people want and I don't believe last night was the night change it up. Sorry if the shows you have hit have been similar but don't get mad at them over it. Instead just get mad over ticket prices for MSG..LOL!

Also, to those of you that said they should have cancelled, that would have p'd off ALOT of people because many had flown in from around the country and couldn't make it back to a rescheduled show. Plus, I doubt their schedules would have allowed so it would have been cancelled all together. I don't know about Daughtry, but Jon has to be on HIS DEATH BED to cancel a show. It wasn't poor planning by anyone, it was just trying to make the best out of a very bad situation.

OVER MISSING THEM! I swear if I could just get my hands on the kid that called in the hoax! I WOULD RIP HIM TO SHREADS! NO ONE MAKES ME MISS DAUGHTRY! I am just absolutely sick, and YES the cost of our tickets are for BOTH BANDS!!
I know its NOT either bands fault but the venue handled it poorly AND by the time I got in, they were not even checking people!! My main reason for this trip was for Daughtry, I am sooo over the bon jovi sets! I actually wanted to leave early last night!
I did not take one picture I was sooo upset!
There was NO CURFEW for the venue last night, they could have waited 30 more minutes! Even if I had gotten to see SOME of their set I would feel a bit better than seeing NOT A DANG THING Sad

We were very lucky to get in 3 DAUGHTRY songs. We were there also at 5:30 I am so disappointed, there are some crazy a's out there. Main reason for waiting 6mths was to see DAUGHTRY again. But thats ok they aren't going away, looking forward to new CD and another tour. I want them only for 2 hours.

what a crazy night!!!!

We got to the venue at around 6pm and kinda knew something was going on, just unclear what. The gates to the parking were still closed and cars were beginning to back up onto the streets. They opened the gates and in went the traffic along with, at the time, some police cars. 15-20 mins later, security was telling everyone to move away from the building, stay in your cars, go back to the parking lot, etc. The longer the delay continued, the more people arrived. I heard about 20,000 to be exact and it was a sold out show. No real communication was given to the fans, only that a bomb threat had closed the building until around 9pm. About 8:50 everyone started running towards the doors. Im not sure if security gave the all clear or that people just started to run. If you didnt run, you would have gotten run over... so we ran and got close to the doors. Maybe about 50 people back. There was no lines, but rather a mob of people trying to fit through the 8 maybe 10 doors. I was nervous that people from the back would start pushing and then we would end having the crushing effect towards the front of the lines. While we were in line, nobody was pushing, but Im sure as word got out that Daughtry had already taken the stage, people probably became a little inpatient. It took us 30 minutes to get in and Daughtry had already started the set. He sang 6 songs and was done in 30 minutes. Im glad I got to see the 5 songs and support the guys. Daughtry was done by 10pm and Bon Jovi was on by 10:30. I have to say though, Bon Jovi was good, loved the stage and HE DIDNT SHORTEN THE SET. Applause to BJ for doing a complete show. The show ended around 12:45 and the venue was still packed. All in all, a bomb threatened show or postponedshow is better than no show at all.

that's crazy! sorry to those who missed Daughtry Sad but seriously if you guys werent let in till then, they should've just re-scheduled...but then again maybe it just wouldn't work out with the schedules they have. that really sucks. but thank God everyone was safe! people do some stupid sh*t these days.

do they even search people at these big arena shows? cuz when i went to the one here, they didn't. i thought they were going to, but they just took our tickets and let us in. you would think they would if they're having what, like 20,000 people in there?

--

I feel robbed! The only reason my wife and I went to the show was to see Daughtry! Bon Jovi was good but I have seen them several times. By the time we got in Daughtry was long done. Poor planning! How did they expect to get 20,000 plus into an arena so quickly. They would have been better off rescheduling.

I'm sure there were some very worried and concerned families last night. Sad

That sucks! I know that arena, I have a home right near there . Our hockey team plays there!
I've seen the Stones there, Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow, Sting etc, etc over the years.
It stinks that such whacko people exist and would do such a thing. Its always been sooo pleasant there, every concert!! Shocking is all I can say. Glad you're all alright, and yeah......you will get over this....someday:( Craaaaaaaaaazy! I'm so grateful I did not opt to go and saw Daughtry in Tally the night before.
Have some hugs, hon! (((((Lisa))))) Try to get some rest! Ugh! Poor thing Sad

What an insane night! I am quite devastated! Got to the venue nice and early at 530, ONLY TO MISS DAUGHTRY! I finally got in AFTER the daughtry set.
Sitting in that parking lot was definitely a scary feeling. NOT knowin what was really going on, but as rumors swillered, I did NOT want to go in at all but I did, the lines were slow, and I missed the boys. I AM SOOOO SAD, I was tempted to go to tampa tomorrow, but I can FINALLY SAY I am SICK of Bon Jovi's consistant setlist
Honestly if I could, I would have requested a refund, but i know nothing could be done

I am glad I atleast got to meet up with a few fans, sad I missed the others!!
I can not even describe the insanity there! Guess us that were there will be talking about this one for a while, and UGHH IMISSED A DAUGHTRY SHOW FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!
Seriously HOW and WHY did they think they could shove 20000 people in that arena in 20 minutes!

Miami Herald:

When Bon Jovi came onstage shortly after 10:45 p.m., he told fans: ``I want to thank you for sticking around. It's sad but true but we now have to be aware of our surroundings. When the call came in during sound check, the police chief said it was serious. I want to thank the men and women in the police department.''

Police and security have allowed concertgoers to re-enter the BankAtlantic Center after a bomb threat evacuated the building for the last three hours.

A crowd of thousands wanting to see Bon Jovi and Daughtry perform burst into cheers about 8:50 p.m. as they got word they'd be able to take their seats. It was unclear when the concert, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., would get underway.

Sunrise police received a phoned-in bomb threat this evening from someone saying they would blow up the arena with two bombs at 7:57 p.m., said City Commissioner Sheila Alu. She said the police had bomb-sniffing dogs sweeping the arena for anything suspicious.

"We are taking this very seriously to ensure the safety of all concertgoers," Alu said.

Police had hoped to let concertgoers back in by 9 p.m.

I feel so badly for all of the fans waiting to find out what the heck is going on!!!! I know some people traveled a distance for this show!!!

A bomb threat forced police to evacuate the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise where a Bon Jovi concert was scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

''We're searching the building,'' said Lt. Robert Voss, a spokesman for Sunrise Police Department.

More details were not immediately available, though shortly after 8:30 p.m., Bon Jovi fans started chanting: ''Let us in.'' Half an hour earlier, police made an announcement that it would be another 25 minutes to an hour before anybody was allowed inside.

In the meantime, concert-goers milled about outside the arena, hoping for the best.

''We're concerned for the band and our own health, but we want a show,'' said Diane Elyard, who traveled from Central Florida for the concert. ``It sucks.''

She said they had been waiting to go inside since 6 p.m.

West Palm Beach residents Cindy and Jeff Burger came to celebrate their 26th anniversary. It was their first time at a Bon Jovi concert.

''We were looking forward to having VIP tickets, to get see the show and enjoy food and wine while we watched,'' said Cindy Burger.

Other fans wanted to know more about what was happening.

''They could have given us some more information,'' said Jane Scanlon, who said she had been waiting for two hours. ``But what are you going to do?''

Does anyone know the official word? I have some friends there and they are trying to figure out what is going on?
