The last 2 sentences were interesting:
"Even in so short a set, it was evident that this hard-working band (writing about DAUGHTRY) could use a fun melody or two to add variety to the rock angst. Perhaps that's a lesson they'll learn on this tour from Bon Jovi." end of quote.
Well, if the guys had more room on the stage, maybe there would have been more of a fun time, but I'm only guessing.
We all learn something from everyone and every experience we have; that's life.

I was sad to hear such a short set as well, they did go on late, I wonder if thats the cause.
ALSO its the first show of the tour, so maybe they need to get a feel for it.
My friend had me on the phone from START to FINISH!! LOVED IT, WISHED I WAS THERE.
I am glad you really enjoyed Bon Jovi! 25 years later they still put on a great show.
Thats funny Jon said he met Chris in a bar years ago!
I dont know if this affected the Daughtry boys, probably not, but Bon Jovi was supposed to start rehearsal this past thrusday at NIU and just landed around the time of the shootings, so they went back home, so this show was basically done without any rehearsal!
YAY I CANT WAIT. My first show is tomorrow, and goes from there!!

They take the stage around 7:40. Arena is about ¾ capacity at this point. I’m already sad for them since the house is not yet full. Then I get a good look at their “stage”. Pathetic really, the amount of space they are given. Some of the private gigs from last year gave them more space than this tiny spot. Joey is way out in front giving the guys like 10 or 12 feet in front of him to do their thing. Poor Josh Paul was so confined, I really felt for him. Brian and Steely never left their sides of the stage. Chris moved around a little more and did come up on the ramps on each side of the stage once. That was nice for the fans in those sections. They were really working hard with what they had, but clearly this show was not about them, at all.
I was ready with the camera to record the new song that Chris said would open the show, “You Don’t Belong.” But, then heard the familiar background of “Crashed” out first. Huh, I wondered what had happened, but suspected they just decided to put in it somewhere else later. Nope, I was wrong. Set list was: “Crashed, What I Want, It’s Not Over, Breakdown, What About Now/Walk the Line, Over You, Feels Like Tonight and Home.” What? No “There and Back Again?” I was ready for Josh Paul to shine. I wanted to bounce the house! And, no new song anywhere. I was crushed. I was so ready for it, and nada. It felt cramped. It felt rushed. It felt cold (the stage). It was short. The guys did the best with what they were given. They rocked it as best they could and didn't disappoint.
Bon Jovi was quite the show. Flashy, moving and shifting screens, huge ramp in the back with another huge screen on it. They sang 25 songs! OMG! Their set really was great. Jon and Richie were on fire and rocked the house. And, my oh my, Jon Bon is still sexy!! They came out in the audience for 3 songs (* below) which was very cool. So, if you have floor seats around row 20 in the right side of the center section, then your set for this experience! IDK all the titles exactly, but their setlist was: “Lost Highway, You Give Love a Bad Name, Raise Your Hands, Runaway (came out in 1982, lol), Complicated, I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead/Jumpin Jack Flash, Just Older, In These Arms, Knocking on Heaven’s Door, Blaze of Glory, ?Whole Lotta Feeling Going On?, Born to Be My Baby, We Got it Going On, It’s My Life, Bad Medicine/Shout, These Days (Richie only), Making a Memory*, I’ll Be There for You*, Bed of Roses*, Have a Nice Day, Keep the Faith, Who Says You Can’t Go Home, Livin’ on a Prayer (21st birthday of this tune, wow), BREAK FOR ENCORE, Wanted Dead or Alive, I Love this Town.” And nope again. No Chris with Jon singing “Wanted Dead or Alive”. Jon did introduce the song very nicely by saying how he met Chris in a bar a few years back and recalled how Chris sang this song on AI and did a great job of it. He also commended Chris for his work stating he was a great songwriter and performer. That was cool! But, it was all a wind up for what I thought was going to be a duet, and again nada. It was over just like that. Well, ok, not exactly just like that, their set was super long! And, the Bon Jovi show was fantastic.
So, I left wanting and sad and short of breath. I’m still sad for the guys, but I’m trying to think positive. This will be great exposure for them, no doubt. I’m hoping everyone that comes out to these shows can see through the lack of set and flash and appreciate the music and the guys as performers. Unfortunately, after the spectacle that is Bon Jovi I’m afraid that many are going to forget that this tour even has an opening act. It was such a sharp contrast. DAUGHTRY is better than that and deserves better than that. They were not given their moment IMO.

Ok, so I must preface this before I get started. I’m a SPOILED amazing, crazy, hardcore, diehard DAUGHTRY fan. I was fortunate enough to see the guys 6 times in 2007 in smaller venues and usually as the headliner. Those experiences spoiled me. The following is my review of the Omaha concert with DAUGHTRY opening to the headliner Bon Jovi. This concert was the first in this tour.
My preparation for this concert started months ago. I’ll spare you all the gorey details as I’m sure you’ve heard about them already – lost tickets, found tickets, Ebay tickets, etc. The next step in my head was to score some VIP Meet and Greet passes. I’d hoped to get them through the DO, but to no avail. But, I had another card up my sleeve, or so I thought. I’m pretty good friends with one of the DJs on one of our radio stations. She said she’d hook me up if she could, so I kept up hope. It took the station forever to announce that yes they would be giving away only one set of M&G passes and you had to win tickets from them in order to qualify. The kicker was that only the morning show jocks were giving away the tickets. Well, this girl get’s moving pretty darn early, but there is no time to listen to the morning show, so guess that wasn’t happening.
So, my next thought was to stalk. Nope, not happening either. The temperature here got to a balmy 13 degrees and felt even colder with the howling wind. The buses were hidden and I figured the guys were likely laying low inside out of the weather and gearing up for this first show.
So, I busied myself with finishing my banner. I knew I had front row of the section I was in, so figured I could hang a cool banner to get their attention. It turned out great! I was so excited!
I picked up my kids and my babysitter, got dinner started and was ready to head out. But, where was my husband? LATE! He finally showed up after getting stuck in traffic and we zoomed off. Then, of course, there were 2 accidents on the off ramp to the Qwest Center, so I’m really getting nervous. Show started at 7:30. We parked at 7:10 or 7:15 and still had to walk 4 blocks in the cold, get in the door, through security and find our seats. I was stressed big time. We practically ran to the door. Not good for me. Cold air plus running = asthma flare up. And, yup, you guessed it, no inhaler. I didn’t figure I’d need my purse, so I didn’t bring it. So, I wheezed and suffered my way through the entire concert.
We get in and find our seats. They are great, in the mezzanine, first row, to the right and back from the stage. You’ll see our view in the pics, but it really was pretty good. Floor seats for this show were selling for astronomical prices! So, I get to the task of hanging my banner. My mom calls from across the arena. She can see it and it looks great! Then tragedy! Friggin’ Qwest Center employee shows up and says I’ll have to take it down. It’s not “allowed”. Whatever that means! Then proceeds to stand over me while I take it down. I barely get it off the rail and he says “All the way”. Geez, can’t a girl even catch her breath and sit down for a second. A$$hole. I’m not happy. All my hard work will go unseen by our boys, who clearly needed to feel the love at this concert.

I can barely stand it!! Just spending my day getting ready!!! See you all there!!
