Why am I a fan? Well, that is hard to say in just a few short words. There are so many reasons beyond what I can so simply state. When I first heard Chris Daughtry audition for American Idol, he was undoubtedly my favorite instantly! He just had this amazing powerhouse voice that just automatically drew me in. The day after I saw his audition, I went into work asking everyone "did you see that guy on American Idol last night? He was amazing!" Later on, I called my family and friends and asked all of them the very same question. I was an immediate fan! I followed his performances each and every week and I voted like crazy and rooted for him at each elimination show because I couldn't fathom the thought of not seeing or hearing another outstanding performance. Then my heart was broken when he was eliminated. Everyone in my family called each other and a few um, shall we say, explicatives, were thrown into the conversations because we were all so angry. However, I knew that Chris would continue to go far and make his dreams come true. I remember seeing the add in a magazine for the brand new cd...."Daughtry". I nearly fell off of my chair in excitement! I ripped the page out of the magazine and shoved it in my purse so that when I went home, I could write the release date on my calendar! Finally, the day came when I could go purchase the long awaited cd...it was the only thing I went to the mall for that night! When I tore open the package and put it into my cd player, it was just pure magic. Every word of every song just hit me, it got under my skin in a way that made so much sense. I could relate to every last song and they got me through some really tough times. Music can do that kind of thing....heal the wounds that nothing else can. And when Chris Daughtry is the frontman to all these songs that so very much have been a part of my life, it makes it all the more inspiring to me. So, that is why I am a fan...not because I just think he is gorgeous (which he undeniably is of course!!) and not just because I like the band's songs, it's because his music has touched a special place in my heart and has helped me heal. Chris is a true musician and a wonderful inspiration. He has shown what it means to follow your dreams and I believe that is the most important thing.
