After Operator was finished, Cat had to leave to take a phone call. While she was gone, the couple behind us decided to pull back.....they had been much closer to the moshers and were getting severly jostled. I felt badly for them......... they had come to see DAUGHTRY and were so excited because it was their first time. Then the crowd got even denser and tempers started to flare............the standees were upset with people who'd brought chairs because the chairs were taking up so much space that they wanted to occupy...........never mind these chair people had been there since 2 p.m. and the standees were late comers. A woman next to me was so wasted she puked all over the place, including on me. Fortunatley, I had some water to wash it off my leg and foot with. A young guy behind me tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I was okay - which was really sweet of him. He then told me that it would get much worse with the next group who was called HELLYEAH! I decided then that if Cat wasn't back by the time these guys came on, I was gonna make my way to the street and find her. She came back shortly after that and we decided to leave when the guy on our right started a fight with the two women who were sitting in front of him because they wouldn't move their chairs. (Our chairs had been collapsed by the crowd by now...and two women had pushed their way in front of us and were being confrontational about it. They were also drinking heavily, as were most of the crowd who weren't already stoned out of their minds. One guy was so bad off that he couldn't stop scratching........he obviously needed some kinda fix.)
We got to the street and sat on the curb for a bit until the cops brought out the horses and the ATV'S........a SWAT ROLL was imminent! They made us move and wouldn't let us anywhere near the area where two buses were parked..........they may have been DAUGHTRY's buses.....we never found out. They sat around on their horses and stood on their ATV's and that was it. Once in awhile about 10 or 12 of them would go into the crowd single file and come back out with someone who was either drunk or disorderly. One guy had about 8 cops on him and managed to break loose......they all swarmed him then and took him down. He never came back. Women were being carried out bodily unconscious or close to it. Bodies were still flying through the air inside the crowd in front of the stage (about 15,000 to 20,000 by now, with more in the street......these were the DAUGHTRY fans who had come in time to see the band at 10:30)
About this time, it started to rain. We stood under a tree and opened my umbrella, so we managed not to get drenched. When the rain stopped, we moved to the other side of the street so we could sit on the curb and wait for the crowd to thin out before DAUGHTRY took the stage. (Of course, we got permission from the cops for this!) We sat between two huge piles of horse doodoo, and a woman came along and puked right in the middle of the two piles. Real nice.
