The show at the Robinson Center was awesome!! I also saw Daughtry at Juanita's in April. That show was great, but this one we even greater if that is possible!! Chris had more room to move around this time. And move around he did!! Their energy is amazing. From the very first moment they came on stage until they left, they kept us rockin' and screamin'!!! I was on the third row right behind Chris's Hairdresser!!! I too am an older fan, but Daughtry makes me feel young!! I wish it could have lasted all night. It's like Christmas. You look forward to the concert for weeks, and then just like that it's over!! I can't wait to see them again. Hope it's soon. I was telling someone about the concert and they commented, unlike Juanita's this tiime we could sit and watch--not possible. I will never sit at a Daughtry concert no matter where my seat is!!! I only hope someday to be able to meet Chris and the guys!!

EXCELLENT concert!!!!! We stood the entire time. Sang along, jumped up and down the entire time. If Daughtry came back tomorrow I would definitely go again, again and again. Chris you were so HOT on stage!!! With no voice left, and weak legs, I left the concert a very very happy and satisified woman. The only thing that would have topped off the night of course would have been to meet you in person. Maybe next time you rock through town.

This is my last Concert Review for a while. I tried so hard not to write a book, but I have so much to share. I hope my words will make you guys feel as if you were there too.

My life changed this past Thursday through Monday. Wow; what a whirlwind four days it has been, but they’ve been the best days of my life ever! I realize as I sit here today to write this, I have experienced something I may never experience again in my lifetime. I have to pause every now and then to wipe tears of joy and sadness from my face as I write—tears of joy from what I was given and tears of sadness at what has ended.

I made plans to attend a Daughtry show every other day beginning in Jackson, Tennessee on Thursday (review written), continuing on at Hard Rock/Biloxi, Mississippi, and ending in Little Rock, Arkansas. Even though the last few days of traveling hundreds and hundreds of miles by car had started to fatigue my body, the miles could not tire my spirit because I anticipated the reward at the end of each journey—the chance to see the only Band ever to command my heart and soul—Daughtry. In all, I have attended five shows with each show seeming better than the last.

This is my Arkansas review:

Knowing this show was the end of the run for me, I really hoped it would all end with memories I could never replace, and that is exactly what happened. I have to thank Chris, Josh Paul, and Brian for giving me that!!! I will love them forever!

My day started early with a drive to Little Rock, but I always had Daughtry on my mind. I had made a couple of goodie bags for the boys and arrived early in the afternoon. Tim and I dumped our luggage in the hotel room, grabbed the bags for the Stage Crew, Josh Paul and the boys, and ventured out to make my deliveries right around the corner from our hotel room. We found a crew member, and I gave him the bags for both crew and Band. He remembered me from Thursday and that was the beginning of a wonderful evening. He told me he would get the bag to Josh Paul and tell him it was from me. Anyone who knows me (including the crew now) knows that I adore Josh Paul. Within a few minutes, Mr. Sweetheart came out to see me. He looked tired, but was the same ole sweet, soft spoken Josh Paul, and we posed for a few pics before the show. Seeing him just increased my anticipation of the show that night, and I walked away with the biggest smile and happiest heart. This was going to be great because I had 2nd row seats, nearly front and center of the stage. And, I had a plan. (wink)

Once seated inside, I patiently awaited Daughtry while enjoying music from Small Town Sleeper. The audience remained seated during their songs, but the Band worked very hard to entertain and please us. I really enjoyed them and gave them a standing ovation at the end of their set. So far, so good.

The venue lights dimmed; the crowd began to roar and scream. The stage lights were on low, the Daughtry backdrop descended, a light fog appeared. The music began, one by one--Joey, Steely, Josh Paul and Brian entered on stage; it was show time. I had to remind myself to breathe. The drums were banging, the guitars whining, the Bass pulsating in rhythmic harmony. The stage was set for one of the best voices in Rock to come along in decades—Chris Daughtry. Oh, how I love this man and his Band!!! A shadowy figure appears and even in silhouette, it is unmistakably Chris. The crowd let loose with a roar worthy of an arena sized crowd. Just the mere sight of these five guys on stage sent our adrenaline soaring. The next hour will be one of the shortest hours of our lives. Again, just remember to breathe.

Chris grabbed his megaphone and mic and opened with Crashed. With the first few lines, we were hopelessly lost in a frenzy of excitement and love for this man and the band members who appear to be more like brothers than coworkers. The acoustics in Robinson Music Hall were out of this world. Chris was his usual animated, take charge, commanding self. You can hardly take your eyes off of him. He’s a beautiful man inside and out. Chris’ vocals were spot on for every song—more perfect than I had ever heard him in any of my previous shows. I won’t go into song selections since other reviews from shows of late have mentioned them, but his Covers were better than the originals. Just wow!! What a soulful voice he has! He continued to cast his spell on us, and the other Band members were his partners in crime so to speak. Every song was perfect. Chris is one heck of an entertainer. He’s so interactive with the crowd, has the best sense of humor, and still seems like the man we all grew to love on AI. Fame and our adoration of him seem to have only made him want to please us more and that he does!

One of the biggest highlights of my evening came when I put my “plan” into action. During a quiet moment before Chris began his next song, I held up my homemade sign for Chris to see. It read, “Chris’ Hairdresser” and had a big, black arrow pointing down at me standing underneath the sign. I added DO.com Love thread too. Chris read the sign and cracked a smile. He pointed at me as he read the sign and said, “Chris’ Hairdresser……so does this mean you’re offering cause if you are…….So, are you offering?” He held the mic out toward me and I yelled, “Yes!” He laughed and kept looking at me so I yelled out to him, “Daughtry Official…We love you!” He asked me, “What was that?” So I yelled again, “Daughtry Official…Love you Chris!” He smiled really big and said sweetly, “I love you too” and the crowd applauded. I turned around to face the crowd behind me so they could see what the sign said and what Chris and I were talking about. Those close enough to read the sign laughed. It was a priceless moment for me and one I will always treasure. Gosh, how I love him!

Joey was one big bundle of energy pounding out a beat to make our bodies rock without trying. Being behind a Drum set can never obscure the power or presence of Joey. After all, Joey is a fashion plate and you can’t help but notice what the guy is wearing. Of course, Joey would look good wearing a moon suit

Steely was energetic, moving around more than he usually does, and he was rocking with us as he played the heck out of that guitar. He would close his eyes, let his body lean back with the guitar, and just go with the sound. He connected with Joey on the drum stand a few times. It was great, and I loved watching him interact with Joey. He’s a wonderful guitarist, and like I’ve said many times before—he’s Mr. Classy.

Josh Paul was “switched-on” Josh Paul. Regardless of how tired he may be, he always gives 1000%. His energy was amazing, and he heats a stage up with his persona. And then, there’s his Bass guitar. Can I just say, “omg, how he can play that instrument!” It’s mesmerizing to watch and you can feel it talk to something deep inside you. He’s one of, if not THE best, Bass players out there today. Even Tim, being a tough old guy in Law Enforcement, was feeling it and he gave Josh Paul a few shout outs. Tim has never done that for anyone. Being in 2nd row, I was able to wave to Josh Paul, and he gave Tim and me an acknowledgement from the stage by pointing at us and smiling. He makes me smile every time. He is the total package of entertainment, and I stand in awe of him every show.

And Brian—sweet, serious Brian. He is a hard rocker and so much fun to watch. He knows guitar with his eyes closed and is right up there with Steely in leading the way. He puts so much into his playing that he is completely drenched in sweat, but he is standing before you with eyes closed and a smile on his face feeling the music with the crowd. Totally awesome!

It takes the talent of every member of this Band to deliver such a dynamite show and I was thrilled to be able, once again, to witness this Rock machine rock out on stage and take us there with them. It was totally awesome; totally unforgettable and always leaves me wanting more. I can’t explain it any better than that, but take in a show and you will soon discover exactly what I am talking about.

After the show was over, I wasn’t quite ready to let go and say the night was over. Tim and I saw Josh Paul and asked him if he could meet a little girl who was dying to meet him. She was about 10 years old, sat next to us during the concert and loved Daughtry so much she talked her parents into bringing her. She was the Daughtry listener in their family. So, we had to try to get her to Josh Paul at least because I knew that would make her night. She was shy at first, but Josh Paul just layed some quiet, gentle love on her and they took 2 or 3 really cute pics together. The little girl was tickled pink and as she was leaving, she hugged Tim’s neck for taking her up to see Josh Paul. The little girl also ended up with Chris’ guitar pick so she had a great concert experience and her parents were thrilled. I ended up saying good-bye to Josh Paul and we took one last pic together. He finally stuck his tongue out in our picture; I love it and will share it soon.

Later, I decided to go near the buses and wait for one last glimpse of my beloved Band. I’m so glad I made that decision because after all the fans had given up and left because everything and everyone was on the bus and ready to pull out, I saw one crew member and gave him a message to give to Chris. I asked him to tell Chris “his hairdresser” was hoping to see him before he left. Much to my surprise and great pleasure, down the bus steps came Chris. Brian was right behind him. As soon as I saw Chris, I lit up like a firecracker waiting to explode. I think I was bobbing up and down a bit. Those few feet that separated us seemed like a mile, and I couldn’t wait until he reached me.

He was smiling and I was literally inches from him face to face. He said hello with the biggest and most beautiful smile and he gave me a huge hug. I was in heaven. The ice was broken so I just let the words flow. It went something like this:

Chris: So, you really want to be my hairdresser? (laughs)
Deb: Definitely; let’s go! Chris! I met you in Bama on the AI tour and I have been waiting soooo long to catch up with you again. It’s been forever! I know we took a pic together then but I need a new one and I’m not getting any younger. And….and…..I need my CD signed…..and I’ve been waiting to hug your neck again….and..and….
(Chris gives me that gorgeous open mouth grin, blinks, and then looks at me, takes my CD from my hand while he’s still looking me straight in the eye, opens the CD cover without looking, and changes to a serious face…..We’re still nose to nose practically)
Chris: Uh, huh…Yes….I’m listening..go on
(Deb realizes she’s gushing, but doesn’t care because it’s all pent up and waiting to be said)
Deb: (Chuckles and says) Chris, I just love you guys so much, the music and shows make me so happy and I can’t get enough. Please don’t ever stop. I’ve seen you 5 times already and love it every time.
Chris: Really……where have you been…..Tell me where you have been, what shows?
Deb: Well, Exit In in Nashville, Newbys in Memphis, Jackson TN, Hard Rock Biloxi and now here tonight and I’m begging Tim for 2 more shows currently.
Chris: Wow! Thank you darlin’
(we hug again…..I say hi to Brian who is just amused that this grandmother can gush with the best of the young ones….Brian and I hug and I ask him not to go anywhere because I’ve never met him before tonight and want his siggy on my CD too)
Deb: Do you have time for a pic with me, Chris?
Chris: Yep, let’s do it.
(Chris grabs me and I grab Brian and pull him in to save time for the guys….the Bus’ lights are on)
(We take several pics and then Chris and I have a private moment which was so wonderful and between us......Tim tried to get a pic of it, but even he was so excited that he could hardly concentrate on taking the shot and only got ½ the shot we later discovered back in our hotel room….even though Tim missed the important part of the shot, that photo in itself now will always bring back an extremely special moment with Chris)

Afterwards, I posed for another pic with Brian, told him what a wonderful guitarist he is and how long I’ve been waiting to meet him. He smiled, signed my CD, and thanked me. He really is a cutie and has such boyish charm offstage….what a cutie!!

While Chris, Brian and I were doing our thing for a few minutes (and I threw in a few more I love you’s), another fan driving down the street saw me with Chris and she came up to see Chris. He greeted her with a smile, but said he was about to have to leave so they did the photo and autograph thing. Then boys demo’d their skateboarding skills for us. It warmed my heart to see them just having fun and being regular guys. I yelled to Chris to be careful this time and he smiled and said he had gotten better. They skated for a few minutes, waved good-bye; Chris flipped the skateboard up off the ground with his foot, handed it to the crew member and boarded the bus.

I was still standing there smiling even as they closed the door for the final time. The other fan grabbed me, hugged me, and said if it hadn’t been for me standing there and she recognized me, she would have never met Chris and she was so thankful for that. We both walked away smiling ear to ear and on Cloud Nine.

I couldn’t have asked for a better evening! What a way to end my Groupie escapades!

The opening band, Small Town Sleeper, gave the crowd a better-than-expected boost. I expected a mediocre performance from a wanna-be band, but was pleasantly surprised with the performance of these four guys. They got the crowd worked up rather quickly, and they were able to keep it going with their screaming guitars and heavy bass licks from a bassist who looked to be no more than 17!

Once Daughtry took the stage, it was as though a seasoned stage presence had taken over. He approached the crowd with as much energy and confidence as a performer with 20 years of experience. Opening with "Crashed", the mood was instantly HIGH, and there wasn't a letdown until the lights came on at the end. The encore with "Home" and a medley of "There And Back Again" left most concert-goers hoarse and happy.

Thank you, Daughtry, for a great night. We look forward to the day when your opening acts are Metallica and Kiss!

Hi Chris,

I do not know if I am doing this right but I seen where you were going to be in Little Rock, we live in Rogers Arkansas. Anyway... I just wanted to say Thank you. I know that I am not your biggest fan but we just had a son that was 2 months premature, he had to stay in the Hospital 1 month. Everyday on either the way there or the way back your song would play. His Dad and I would turn it up and think of our Baby Maddox. Of course the song did not play on the day that he came home but when we got home we played it off the computer. The part where you say dont regret this life you chose for me, that hits me because I was not supposed to have another child because of complications. But I did and he is beautiful just very very small. We Me, my boyfriend and our 3 boys would love to say Thanks! You could sing our baby I'm coming home on stage. Just kidding, unless you want to Smiling Truly I just wanted to let you know the way your song impacted our lives. Hope this does not get lost in the mix.
