The traffic was very bad - I agree. We chose to take a different route entering Hershey, PA after seeing the traffic at a standstill on I think it was Route 322. We drove right into the town of Hershey on Chocolate Ave. with no problems at all. Until we reached the light to turn onto Park Ave. right behind the Kiss tower. We sat still for at least 30 light rotations. We could see the park, just couldn't get to it! But common sense told us just to park where we could and walk the rest of the way. We were not going to miss any of the show. We knew that we only had about an hour til 6:30 and were not going to make it by car. So we uturned and parked in a restaurant parking lot, others were doing the same. We walked the entire fence around Hersheypark ( a mile or so one way) til we got to the stadium with plenty of time left before Daughtry. Other people I spoke to that were within a few miles of the stadium also parked where ever they could and hoofed it the rest of the way. We have been to other events at Hershey, and the traffic and parking is never really good, but this I think was the worst! But, as others have written, it is a very busy theme park and to add concerts to that fact, there are going to be traffic issues. I think though, more than 1 show a night should be reconsidered! We also had no traffic issues whatsoever leaving that night, after a long walk back to our car. The walk back was a killer after standing for nearly 4-5 hrs.
As far as the time that the concert was to start, Hershey made it perfectly clear! The ticket gave the correct time, and if you checked the website it gave specifics concerning the show as to when the stadium would open - 90 min. prior to the show. We also spoke with a rep. from the Giant Center when purchasing our tickets, and the same info. was stated then. So, it seems that any miscommunication was not the fault of HersheyPark.
Daughtry was absolutely fantastic!!!!!! They were awesome! I wouldn't have missed them for anything! I would have walked a hundred miles if I had to just to get there for their set. We had general admission tickets, and since we were there early had a great place to watch the show. Will definitely go to see them again. The entire show including Staind and Nickleback was one of the best I've ever seen, and I've been to see some real classics. I've been a huge fan of Chris's since the American Idol auditions, and hated to see him voted out last year. My friend went last week to see Taylor Hicks. I bet that was fun!!!!! She missed a real concert with Daughtry!
