I met a girl at Bayfest who was a Daughtry fan. Her name is Jessica. She told me her last name and to look her up on MYSPACE so I could share my pictures with her. But for the life of me, now i can't remember her last name!!!! So--Jessica---I didn't want you to think I was one of those ppl who SAY they'll send you pictures, and then don't.....sooo--if you are on here, send me a msg and we'll get in touch!!! Anyways---- have a good evening and

ROCK ON!!!

I WAS AT BAYFEST, AND THE REST OF THE SHOWS WERE CRAPPY. LIKE I'VE SAID BEFORE---IT WAS JUST A DRUNKFEST W/ TOO MANY PPL PASSING OUT AND JUST ACTING RIDICULOUS...PPL WEREN'T EVEN PAYING ATTENTION TO THE CONCERTS BEFORE DAUGHTRY...THEN WHEN DAUGHTRY CAME OUT---THE CROWD WASN'T ACTING CRAZY AND THEY ACTUALLY WERE PAYING ATTENTION TO HIM!!!!..................DAUGHTRY-----WAS AWESOME!!!! NO, IT WASN'T THE BEST DAUGHTRY CONCERT I'VE BEEN TO, BUT IT WASN'T BAD. IT WAS TOTALLY WHAT I EXPECTED AND MORE! HE ALWAYS PUTS ON A GREAT SHOW!! I'M GUESSING THAT YOU WEREN'T AT THE SAME CONCERT I WAS...MAYBE YOU WEREN'T IN THE FRONT ROW?? IF YOU WERE CLOSER TO THE MIDDLE OR BACK, I COULD MAYBE IMAGINE THAT IT WAS A LIL MORE CRAZIER AND NOT AS ENJOYABLE B/C YOU COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING??? i KNOW YOU SAID YOU WEREN'T TRYIN TO BE MEAN OR WHATEVER, BUT PLEASE.....THIS IS A WEBSITE FOR DAUGHTRY FANS. SO IF YOU DON'T LIKE DAUGHTRY OR DON'T CARE ABOUT HIM, JUST DON'T LEAVE MSGS LIKE THAT.......THANK YOU AND GOOD NIGHT!

I was at Bayfest and went and saw JOAN JETT!! She rocked the HOUSE! I have to say this, not trying to piss anyone off but EVERYONE that said they went to see CHRIS DAUGHTRY said he SUCKED! I like Chris he has an awesome voice but for some reason it seemed more ppl thought his concert lacked quite a bit. I am just being truthful sorry if it offends DIE HARD fans but in all honesty, he hasn't been in the business long enough to have been a HEAD LINER act. He should have opened for some other group that had been in the biz a while and are true rockers. He has a ways to go yet. SORRY TO OFFEND but I can't be any more honest than that!!!

The concert at Bayfest in Mobile, Alabama was the best ever! Daughtery puts on one great conert! He has so much energy and plays to his fans. It was the best hour and 15 minute concert that I had ever seen.

You guys are the best. I sat way back waiting for the other band to get finished and once they were done i got on the move to see the best of all. It was well worth waiting for. You included the crowd in your songs and seem to enjoy it all. All i can say is come back and see us again.

The guys sounded so good. I could not wait for them to come out. Especially after all the craziness going on before. The moshing and crowd surfers were very annoying. There were people passing out from the heat and drinking. I got hit in the head and my husband got a busted lip from a crowd surfer. It was crazy. Once the guys came out it was so worth it.

Daughtry was awesome at Bayfest!!!! I always love watchin how energetic they are and get the crowd rockin’ and going crazy!!! As soon as the band comes out, waiting on Chris…you can just feel the anticipation and excitement of the crowd!!!!!!!!!! Chris was very laid back, seemed like….throughout the show, he would walk over to Steely and I think he slapped him on the butt or something funny… then he picked Brian up at the end of the show while he was playin his guitar.. and different funny stuff! I love when he’s like that! I’m always bummed b/c Joey is so far back and you can’t hardly see him playin the drums, especially when its dark out!  But we still love ya JOEY!!!!

So……Daughtry= AWESOME…. Bayfest & security = poor..
Like several ppl have wrote on here already, it was a ridiculous day at Bayfest while waiting on Daughtry! As the other bands performed, most of the crowd was watching, but there were some that were doin the moshing and body surfing crap……let me just say—what is the point of doing that!?!?! NOTHING!!! You aren’t even listening to or enjoying the concert! This guy even got hit so hard that his face was bleeding! It kinda made me and my friend scared….so we stayed away from that! As the night went on, that stuff happened more and more and more.. and there were so many drunk ppl, ppl who were high, passed out, sick, and the list goes on………Me and my friend, Gail, had fumbled our way up close to the front, maybe 6 ppl back (if there were rows)…..and started talking to the ppl standing around us…. As we were standing there, the crowd started pushing forward….The 2 guys we were talking to told us to get in front of them, and they were tryin to hold off the crowd……blah blah blah, I guess you had to be there to see how it was, but I just was sooo fed up with it all!! And so was EVERYONE around me!!! I got hit in the head b/c they were passin this girl around, body surfing,…….made the guy behind me get a busted lip, b/c he was tryin to not let ppl push us…….aw, poor thing, he was workin hard! Haha! I only seen Security up front…they weren’t out in the crowd (at least I didn’t see any)…..tehy kept having ppl passed up to the front so security good escort them out and stuff…but it wasn’t enough security AT ALL! Anyways, it was miserable while waiting on daughtry!!!! Couldn’t even enjoy the other bands, or TRY to, b/c of this nonsense!!!! Gail even had to leave before Daughtry came out b/c she was claustrophobic and couldn’t take all pushin and fighting and crap!!! This was in downtown Mobile, Alabama, so it was like several streets blocked off and TONS of ppl in the crowd………..I ended up staying and waiting on Daughtry, b/c that is what we came for…. She told me to stay and enjoy it! So…………………..by this time, I was 2nd “row” back from the front towards the middle….as daughtry came out, it just seemed like a calm came over the crowd…. I mean, they weren’t pushing or shoving anymore, and they were just focused on watching the band!!!!! It was great!!!! I was so happy they weren’t moshing anymore… I don’t mean to sound like a “rock concert baby” …. But I just think its stupid!! If youw anna “mosh” do it to the side where no one is or where no one will get hurt! Hah! Anyways………….the ppl standing in front of me left like a few songs into the Daughtry concert, and I got FRONT ROW!!!!!!!!!!!! I was right up against the barricades! I was sooo excited!!!!!! I’ve been front row at several of the other Daughtry concerts I’ve been to, but only because Ive waited in line from like 9 in the morning til concert time… but this one, we didn’t feel like waiting all day in the heat, got there around 4, Daughtry started close to 11, and I STILL got front row!! I was pumped!!!!  Oh, I forgot…to beat all, right before Daughtry, we had some rain to cool us off, and everyone got DRENCHED! We all looked wonderful!!!! Hehe!

So.. anyways, I ended up having an awesome time!!!!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t have any more daughtry concerts planned as of now…….i want to go to Maryland, but we’ll see how that works out!!!

Until next time…………

first time to see you guys...the show was FABULOUS...so much energy and excitement. Can't wait to see you again.

I thought the show was great! The sound quality wasn't as good as I think it should be but the band ROCKED! I was actually standing off to the side before the show and saw Chris twice (getting on and off the bus). My pix from the show aren't great, but I didn't expect them to be. I'm still waiting for the day I get to meet Chris! I love the way he gets the crowd into the show & unlike a previous review, the people around me were jumping up & down & singing the songs. I can't wait to see them again!

It was now about 10 p.m and the last act before DAUGHTRY was due to go on..........there was a delay because of the rain, so DAUGHTRY didn't come on until after 11 p.m. The crowd never did thin out......we tried to get back inside to see the guys, but it was impossible. We had to stand way off to the side and way, way back from the stage. We could hardly see them, but we could hear them really well. As I said earlier, they were AWESOME. This just was not a real DAUGHTRY concert............the majority of the people there were not really DAUGHTRY fans. They either hung around because they were too wasted to realize the other bands were done, or out of curiosity about what DAUGHTRY would be like. There were some seriously scary people at this concert, some biker types, many, many druggies, lots of kids and teeny boppers. Chris and the guys did their utmost to get the crowd involved, but they were just kinda standing around. The bunch behind us never shut up yakking once..........all they could talk about was how much they wanted to eff Chris, and how effing hot he was, and on and on. It would have been funny if it hadn't been so pathetic.

After the guys played, we went over to the fences that cordoned off the bus area to see if we could catch a glimpse of them. The mounted police were everywhere, and after about 15 minutes, they told us we had to leave. We started walking off and they were right behind us on the horses, close enough that we could feel the horses' breath on our necks!!!!!!!! They were very ugly to us and we hadn't done anything wrong at all. They kept inching the horses closer and closer to us trying to make us walk faster........it was completely unnecessary, but kind of a fitting end to a very frustrating day.

I will not attend another concert where there are heavy metal bands on the bill. This was, IMO, badly mismanaged by security and the police.........had they taken care of business when all this first started, we would not have had to leave and we could have seen the guys much better. I do not mean to sound whiny or to complain, but I paid good money to see my favorite band and I was rudely treated and put in danger by the lack of security provided by the venue. This is by no means meant to cast any aspersions on DAUGHTRY or DO...........the guys could not have done a better job..........they came through like they always do. It was a matter of poor judgment on the part of the people in charge of security at this particular venue. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it Smiling

After Operator was finished, Cat had to leave to take a phone call. While she was gone, the couple behind us decided to pull back.....they had been much closer to the moshers and were getting severly jostled. I felt badly for them......... they had come to see DAUGHTRY and were so excited because it was their first time. Then the crowd got even denser and tempers started to flare............the standees were upset with people who'd brought chairs because the chairs were taking up so much space that they wanted to occupy...........never mind these chair people had been there since 2 p.m. and the standees were late comers. A woman next to me was so wasted she puked all over the place, including on me. Fortunatley, I had some water to wash it off my leg and foot with. A young guy behind me tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I was okay - which was really sweet of him. He then told me that it would get much worse with the next group who was called HELLYEAH! I decided then that if Cat wasn't back by the time these guys came on, I was gonna make my way to the street and find her. She came back shortly after that and we decided to leave when the guy on our right started a fight with the two women who were sitting in front of him because they wouldn't move their chairs. (Our chairs had been collapsed by the crowd by now...and two women had pushed their way in front of us and were being confrontational about it. They were also drinking heavily, as were most of the crowd who weren't already stoned out of their minds. One guy was so bad off that he couldn't stop scratching........he obviously needed some kinda fix.)

We got to the street and sat on the curb for a bit until the cops brought out the horses and the ATV'S........a SWAT ROLL was imminent! They made us move and wouldn't let us anywhere near the area where two buses were parked..........they may have been DAUGHTRY's buses.....we never found out. They sat around on their horses and stood on their ATV's and that was it. Once in awhile about 10 or 12 of them would go into the crowd single file and come back out with someone who was either drunk or disorderly. One guy had about 8 cops on him and managed to break loose......they all swarmed him then and took him down. He never came back. Women were being carried out bodily unconscious or close to it. Bodies were still flying through the air inside the crowd in front of the stage (about 15,000 to 20,000 by now, with more in the street......these were the DAUGHTRY fans who had come in time to see the band at 10:30)

About this time, it started to rain. We stood under a tree and opened my umbrella, so we managed not to get drenched. When the rain stopped, we moved to the other side of the street so we could sit on the curb and wait for the crowd to thin out before DAUGHTRY took the stage. (Of course, we got permission from the cops for this!) We sat between two huge piles of horse doodoo, and a woman came along and puked right in the middle of the two piles. Real nice.

By this time, it was around 5:45 p.m. It had been hot, but now it was beginning to cool off some. The next group was setting up...........and this is where it began to go south on us. I'm just gonna relate what all transpired and let you draw your own conclusions. All around us now were hard core heavy metal headbangers........the stink of weed was heavy in the air and many of these people were obviously stoned and/or drunk. (Can you BE stoned AND drunk simultaneously? I have no frame of reference for this, y'all) The next group was called Operator.

Well, we stood up for Operator like good concert goers everywhere.........they were definitely a hard core heavy metal/punk rock oriented band with a very menacing attitude...........maybe it's an act, I don't know. Totally foul mouthed, which I understand is a large part of this genre of music. This is when the moshing started......I've heard of moshing but I've never seen it, not even on film. I was not prepared for the level of violence that takes place in a mosh pit. People were bleeding......it was much more than dancing and pushing/shoving. Punches were being thrown, and so were bodies. People were flying through the air...............they hurled full water bottles at the crowd....I got hit in the head with one. But we had a buffer with our chairs and those of the couple behind us, so we still felt safe enough to remain where we were. The band actively encouraged the moshers to continue and to escalate. I figured that security and/or the police would step in at some point......until I got a look at the security guys. They were so small, they couldn't even see over the crowd.! And the cops...........they were standing up on the VIP stage next to the performing stage, and they were...........POINTING at the moshers, LAUGHING and TAKING PICTURES! They did absolutley nothing about what was happening. When I went to the CPR Fest in Biloxi, the security guys wouldn't even let anyone smoke let alone mosh...........they ejected people at the first sign of anything violent or disruptive. That's what I thought would happen here but I was oh so wrong.

This part of my review will concern the festival itself. It's gonna be a long one, y'all...there's a lot to tell. I'm just gonna relate the events to you as I remember them.

BayFest was set up in dowtown Mobile with several city blocks cordoned off, and tents and stages set up at various points within this area. When this concert was posted on DO, there were two other acts listed on the same stage as DAUGHTRY on the same night. I've been to Jazz Fest here in New Orleans, so I kind of knew what to expect as to logistics. The difference is that Jazz Fest is held on the Farigrounds in N.O. and not spread out over many city blocks.

We got to Mobile around noon, checked into our hotel and headed out to scope out the site. The gates were due to open at 2, so we went to grab a bite to eat. We were in line at 2 p.m and got to the stage where DAUGHTRY was scheduled to play at about 2:15.........they weren't due to come on until 10:45 p.m............four other acts had been added, making a total of six bands before DAUGHTRY, none of which we had ever heard of. We were able to get spots about 4 rows back from the stage, right in front of the central mike, so we felt good about that. We figured as the evening wore on, we'd be able to move up a row or two. Some people ahead of us had set up chairs, so Cat went back to the hotel to get the chairs she wisely thought to bring. While she was gone, the crowd got denser and the first act came onstage. They were a local band called StereoHype and they were quite good. They obviously have a pretty strong local following.

Cat got back with the chairs before the next group came on, and we sat down for a bit. A couple from Mobile came and sat behind us with their chairs......they had come to see DAUGHTRY like us. The next group, Sunstreak, came on.........another local band.........okay, but nothing special. The third group, Top o' the Orange was pretty good and had a good sized crowd to entertain.....one of them was formerly with Three Doors Down.

--

This review will be done in two parts.........a review of DAUGHTRY followed by a review of the BayFest experience I had. It's the only fair way to do this.

DAUGHTRY was late in starting due to a rain delay, but - as always - it was worth the wait. They were FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! This was my third time seeing them live and every time, they are better! They were so tight last night..........Chris' voice sounded AWESOME, the guys played flawlessly........they make you forget the cd with the way they put their own stamp on the performances of each track from it.

This was not a typical DAUGHTRY concert, as I will explain in the next part, but once these guys hit the stage, there was no doubt as to who were the rank amateurs and who is the HOTTEST BAND in the world!!!!!!!!!!!! DAUGHTRY took it to a new high..............they gave a rock and roll clinic last night, and I hope the other acts stuck around to see what CLASS can add to a band's performance. A wonderful friend I've made here on the DO site put this into perspective for me just a few minutes ago...........she's from New Zealand and has yet to see the guys in concert. She said she and her fellow DAUGHTRY fans in NZ can only dream about seeing them live in concert........I've been fortunate enough to have seen them THREE times now.............that, my friends is what it's all about............and that is PRICELESS.
