This is really old but I was just looking back and realized I listed the wrong song name! Just for clarification, Chris DID sing Fell on Black Days and Frampton sang Black Hole Sun. Still cool that I saw 2 very different artists perform their own versions of two Soundgarden songs (off of the same album) from several years ago on the same night. I really enjoyed both performances!!! Smiling

This was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. The guys were energetic as ever and all my favorite songs were played. I especially like that they reached out to the fans and let us sing along to Over You. They also announced that it was going to be their next single, which was especially exciting. I have never felt such appreciation for being a fan. Thanks Daughtry! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!

The song that Daughtry covered was "Fell on Black Days" by Soundgarden. There is actually a clip that someone submitted on YouTube. I don't have the link but if you do a search for Daughtry Summerfest it will appear - could also search for Daughtry Fell on Black Days but you may want to view other clips from the concert as well. I am always amazed at the pics and videos people get since we are always continuously told not to bring them and they go through the purse search and all that! Kudos to you fine folks who get them and share them with the rest of us! ; ) Still on a high from the concert - totally Daughtry obsessed! Love em!

I thought it was JP, but then I second guessed myself after watching the interview on YouTube. Thanks to gottaluvem for setting the record straight for me - you mustve had closer seats than me! Sure, I could have watched the screens but then it is like watching them on tv and not really being THERE. So, I wasn't positive - although I sure thought it was him by the actions and playing ability! : ) I should have known better than to think otherwise!

I emailed the critic from the Sentinal too. He said he had many of us fans contact him that were not to happy about his remarks. I told him I had always heard if it was too loud you were too old and told him I will go again if Daughtry comes back to the Milwaukee area. I had a great time and enjoyed every minute of the concert, except when it was over.

I was so excited to read the review in the Journal Sentinel (I was still on a Daughtry high from the night before) that I went to JS Online that morning and read it there first. I was shocked at how bad this particular writer thought the show was! I was there...I thought it was amazing!! Needless to say, I didn't run out to buy a newspaper for my scrapbook collection that day! Instead, I sat down and wrote a reply to the writer of the article. (his e-mail address was listed with the Daughtry article on the Journal Sentinel website) I let him have it and told him that the show was full of energy, everyone stood the whole time and sang along and Chris is an amazing songwriter! He ended up responding to me again and was still not a fan of the show (to put it nicely). I wrote back one last time and stressed my own points and was a little harsh because he was testing my patience. I haven't heard anything else back from him about it.

I loved the show and I am so happy with how well Chris and the whole band are doing. We don't want to dwell on one guy's stupid opinion, but I just wanted everyone reading this to know that I stood up for Daughtry because I thought someone should!

Awesome pictures! I am eager to read your review.

The review that appeared in the Milwaukee Journal was one of the worst pieces that I have read. It looked like a pre written article that he (Dave Tianen) wrote the week before and all he did was fill in the blanks. It hardly talked about the concert and just critisized the album.

The lame review is here

As far as the song,
Soundgarden released it in 1994 on the album Superunknown. It is the 3rd song on the CD.

Does anyone have a video of this part of the show?
Boomer

Hey everyone! I hope you checked out our Daughtry photos from Summerfest. If not, here is the link http://www.alwaysacoustic.com/photographs/daughtry.html
Also, we will be posting the review sometime later this week. Boomer, I believe the song is called Black Days, check out the set list photo. Hope everyone had a wonderful July 4th.

You were not wrong! It was for sure without a doubt JP at summerfest! What he said was they swap out "family busses" during the tour. Jp was gone for awhile, but he is back for the summer tour. If anyone is interested here is the link to the interview. Awesome one too!

I just watched an interview with Chris, Brian, and Joey on YouTube at Summerfest in Milwaukee. They mentioned swapping out bass players. I thought it was JP that night - but being a bit farther away I couldn't REALLY tell! Sorry Josh Paul! Here I was giving credit to the wrong guy. I wasn't SURE, but thought it looked like JP with his mohawk shaved down. MY BAD! Does anyone know who it was if it wasn't JP?! Just curious! Still awesome show - although - I want someone to spill the beans on the BBQ with Daughtry pre-concert!

I was so hoping that Daughtry would do Summerfest. When it was announced that Daughtry would indeed be performing, I jumped at the chance to see them. It was worth the money and so much more. They were outstanding. Chris really knows how to work the crowd. Everyone was on their feet singing along. I hope they eventually come back to Milwaukee to rock us again.

The song that Chris played with the drummer on piano is Fell on black days.

Some one has posted a clip on youtube. Too bad it is not the full song. Here it is.

if the link does not work go to youtube and search daughtry milwaukee and it will be the 5th one down

I came up from Chicago to summerfest to see Daughtry for the first time and this was definately a night to remember! Being a guy on the alternative end of things (in more than just music), I thought I was going to be a needle in a haystack of people at this concert - until I got there and saw so many different types of people enjoying the same experience --- men/women, young/old, all different races, straight/gay, etc etc. It was so cool... there was this older lady standing in the row in front of us totally ROCKING it out! Daughtry is something very special and not just another cookie cutter band. They are extremely talented and Chris' voice is unique and phenomenal! It seems that EVERY song on the CD is memorable and stands on it's own. Until now, I don't think I've come across an album where I have loved every song since CREED "My Own Prison". I have followed (and voted for) Chris hardcore since American Idol and I'm glad to see him make a very smart and controlled rise to fame. I think that some artists get TOO BIG, TOO QUICK and although Daughtry is undoubtedly a HUGE talent, I like the fact they are playing things smart on the journey upwards. I hope to get to another Daughtry concert soon. I think I saw a concert for Rockford, IL mentioned? Otherwise, I can't wait for him to get back to Chicago (but, I'm sure his very kind and supportive wife would like to get some time with him, too). Don't worry, Chris, we will wait as patiently as possible!! Congratulations on your well deserved success and thank you for the huge sacrifices you make to share your talent with us all. Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden. It was released in 1994. I love that song! I had the cassette tape! That tells you how long ago that was! Anyway....a funny note...after the Daughtry concert, my hubby and I went to check out Peter Frampton on a free stage. Guess what? He also sang Black Hole Sun! Pretty strange (though I was thrilled!) since the song is pretty obscure and was never a universal hit! My husband, who is a musician and self-proclaimed rock officianado (sp?), NEVER heard it before Friday night! I sang along with Chris and Peter (though his version was an instrumental). Frampton even recorded it. We found it on You Tube!

I have some pics from the show...can anyone tell me how to post them in this forum? I don't get it.

We were anticipating the concert and were very excited that he was coming to Summerfest. However, we were a little disappointed. He is an up and coming star but there has to be better sound checks for him. It seemed that he was screaming into the microphone so we were able to hear him over the band. We knew all the words to every song but those people who didnt know the words were at a lost. The experience was great and he is a gifted performer but the sound check needs improvement. I have been to many concerts at the Amphitheater and their sound was good. Please come back sometime- we will be there!

Is that the song Chris sang? I really loved it. I thought he wrote it. Would love to hear that again.

I was blown away, what could I say! It was a fantastic concert. It was my first time seeing them. I ended up sitting (or standing) by myself, but I didn't care. I had a great time and sang and danced to every song. Chris's showmanship was untouched. He really touched the crowd and got them involved in every way. The band sounded awsome! I loved all the effects, too. I'm all ready planning my next trip to see them in Rockford and bringing my 7 year old son and my 6 year old daughter(they are true Daughtry fans as well). Can't wait to see them again!
In another note. Thanks to ilove2travel, I was able to sit a little closer than my original tix, so thanks again ilove2travel. It was great to meet you and your friend and hang out for a while.

We really enjoyed Daughtry @ Summerfest. We look forward to covering Chris Daughtry and his band mates in the future. Our Daughtry photographs are posted for Summerfest. The review will be posted soon.

Oh my GOD! Yuu guys were amazing! For sure the best concert I've been too in a long time! Milwaukee Loves you guys and I can't wait to see you guys again! Sounded amazing, looked amazing, just WOW! The crowd at Marcus AMP was sooooooo loud I'd say it was almost full plus lawn seating! CRAZY! I was thrilled I got to run up to front row for awhile from my aisle seats and see you guys up close. hahaha security had to push me back into my seat several times because I was dancing and jumping in the aisle so much, it was great! I was on such a high after the concert and still can't stop telling everyone I know about it. Come back soon! xoxo!

JUST FREAKIN INCREDIBLE....I was hoping to see Daughtry someday soon...glad that I did not have to travel a great distance....WAY MORE that I expected.....It has taken me two days do come down so that I could write this. And now I am speechless......I have been to many concerts in my life and I have never stood for a whole concert or knew all the words to every song. Well, except "Fell On Black Days"....what a performance.....made a 44 year old Marine cry.....Chris' voice is "Soul Touching' and the band was just as magical.......I had the time of my life......I am so proud that Milwaukee showed Daughtry how much we love them!!!!!!!

Here are a few pictures that I took at Summerfest. Not the best, but at least it's something!

Have to say totally different atmosphere from the Annex in Madison and loved the energy at the Marcus Amphitheater! Loved every song! (as usual) The cover of SoundGarden's "Fell on Black Days" was awesome. Vocal talent by Chris was really highlighted in that song! (I think I just noticed it more because it was quiet in the house for a minute) Goosebumps. Awesome concert - totally rocked Summerfest - blew it away in fact. Love how spot on they are ALL the time! Did miss the intimate feel of the smaller club but seeing them in the larger venue is where they belong. Small Town Sleeper was good but I preferred Cinder Road as an opening act. Good to see JP out there - hope all is going well for him. "Brad Pitt" on drums was awesome too. (I would liken Joey more to Vince Vaughn than Brad Pitt but still a cute introduction!) Josh and Brian play incredible guitar. Such a talented group of guys. So proud to be a fan! 3x's platinum CD and climbing! Woo-Hoo! Thanks for the awesome show Daughtry! Can't wait to see you guys again in MN! Oh hey, nice addition of the megaphone - sounded cool! Chris has such an amazing voice - I am so surprised he wasn't "discovered" sooner. Your families should be so proud of ya'll. I know the fans are! So awesome to see TRUE talent out there instead of glorified singers out there who are fancied up in the studio and suck live. Daughtry is a blessing to music and I feel so blessed to experience their talent live and know it is truly a gift. God bless. Luv ya'll!

P.S. Hey gal who won the BBQ deal with Daughtry - wanna give us envious fans the whole scoop? Would love to hear the details! You are so lucky! Congrats for winning.

The show in Milwaukee was soooo awesome! It was nice to hear an outdoor concert to compare it to the show at the Annex. You sounded great - only wish I was closer. We had great seats, but the Annex was obviously more up close and intimate! However, the amount of people there just goes to show how great the band is!!!

If anyone has any pictures to share - could you e-mail me @ kfdberry@aol.com Thanks!

Didn't even try to sneak in a camera - only got a couple cell phone shots - not very good though!

Oh yeah - Small Town Sleeper rocked too! Great show - can't wait to see you again!!!

Was a great show! On my feet the whole night, I was also surprised by small town sleeper. I had never heard of them, and they were very good! No where near as good as Daughtry thou!
I emailed the few of you that asked for pics, I hope you like them. I was 21st row to the right of the stage, it was hard to get good pics..they move around alot! But that is the makings of a great show. I hope they come back to Milwaukee every year because I'll be there! Hopefully with even better seats!

DAUGHTRY YOU DEFINATELY NEED TO COME BACK TO THE GOOD OLE MIL-TOWN REAL SOON. WE LOVE YOU!!! I NEED TO GET CLOSER SEATS NEXT TIME THOUGH Smiling

VERY TRUE AS EVERYONE HAS MENTIONED THERE WASNT A PERSON SITTING IN THAT PLACE LAST NIGHT. AGAIN FANTASTIC JOB!

IF ANYONE OUT THERE WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE SITTING CLOSER THAN MYSELF I WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO BE SO KIND AS TO SEND SOME PICS OF THE SHOW. MY EMAIL ADDY IS AMYG414@YAHOO.COM.

THANKS AND GOD BLESS!

This was my first time seeing these guys and they absolutely blew me away! Chris sounded perfect. Almost like listening to their CD. The guys were dead on and having a blast, as well as me!
I have seen several rock shows at the Marcus and this is by far the biggest crowd i have ever seen, amazing! If he gets any more popular they might night find a venue big enough for the band here in Wisconsin. LOL
I can't imagine a better concert out there than Daughtry.

Amazing concert!! We had 5th row seats, but we jumped up to the 2nd row and then the 1st near the end. Chris is such an awesome singer and preformer! My favorite part was when he jumped off the stage at the end and ran past the crowd and shook hands. I got to touch him!! Now my life is complete Smiling

DAUGHTRY ROCKS...'nuff said!

Well, I've seen Daughtry in Fort Myers, Fl and West Palm Beach, Fl. But i gotta say last night in Milwaukee was a whole new step. They are big time Rock Stars now for sure. I was sick as a dog from a previous 12 hour stint at summerfest. But dragged my self and hubby up from Chicago. Thank God I didn't miss this. They were so out of sight. They just jelled from start to finish. Loved the big stage effects. Chris looked and sounded sensational. The band was so intense and tight - like they'd been playing together for years. I so wanted them to come to Summerfest. I was just smiling all day walking around thinking of him being right there. I kept thinking what is wife must feel.--She really started it all. Thank God for her. It was my first time to really get into the whole band. I must confess due to Idol, I was always ChrisKrazy. They are all fantastic and sound better than most other famous bands. In fact the best I think ever. The sound is so REAL and Crystal Clear. What a voice Chris has. My husband who didn't understand my passion over them, finally got it last night. I love the big venue for them. They are gonna go off the charts. But my husband said Simon was right when he told Chris to take care of that voice. He doesn't hold anything back. He gives it all to his audience. When he went into the crowd, the place went wild. Not that it wasn't wild all night. I sat next to 3 guys whose wives dragged them to the concert. I think their eyes were opened. God bless the band and keep them safe. And rock on.

From start to finish you had the crowd on their feet. I have never seen a crowd so diverse and so into it. Old and young were singing along with every word.

Your version of "Fell on black days" was the most amazing thing i have heard live. I wish that there would be a release of that song from last night.

This was my daughters 1st concert and she is already asking to see you again. Maybe rockford? After last night? you bet!

Keep rockin

Boomer

Words can not describe how incredibly awesome the show was last night! From start to finish it was not stop ROCK! The guys were on fire! They looked like they were having the time of their lives up there. The guys were just all over the place and having a ton of fun! I saw the guys in Madison and was blown away, but put them in an area that big and they were 10 times better! The lighting behind them was awesome, they all looked incredible. We were down on Steelys side of the stage and the crowd there was just rocking! I have some pics that I will post once I get them downloaded.

Thanks guys for another AWESOME CONCERT! I can't wait for the next one!

The show was amazing as always. Gets better each time. I had tickets that were pretty good for the venue but it just isn't the same as it was in De Moines, or Cedar Rapids, Madison, and Chicago x2....
I am excited for the band, but sad for fans that have been so spoiled with the closeness of the stage and easy access of the band. You guys made us feel like part of your success for so long....and looking around and seeing the passion these fans feel for you guys is an amazing experience. You are blessed to have people that believe in you so much! The shows will keep getting bigger, and access will be denied to all but a few....so thank you for the opportunities you provided to us to get to know what wonderful performers you all are! You will only stop at the top now!

Keep rockin' and don't look back guys! Thanks for taking us along for the ride for as long as you have! Two more shows this summer....can't wait to be SRO at the Il State Fair, will be like old times! Who needs chairs? They are pointless when seeing Daughtry!

Daughtry Rocks!

PS...what was the new song? Why can I not figure it out? Anybody help with this? It is driving me crazy!!!!! It was beautiful! Joey you are amazing, and Chris your voice is the most amazing I've heard in years!

I had the best time at this concert. You guys really rocked the house and we might not have sang the loudest but most of us were standing and trying to sing every song right along with you. I hope you come back to the Milwaukee area soon. Congrats on the working with Nickel Back. You have become a shining star and are the first American Idol I have went to see and will again.

KEEP ON ROCKING!

Well, let me start off by saying the wife LOVES Chris. And it was a night for her to remember. Started off with Small Town Sleeper who opened for Daughtry and got the house fired up! Then the man and the band hit the stage!!! ROCKING!!!! Chris really knows how to work the crowd and had the place turned upside down!! From the openng song to the encore performance, NO ONE SAT DOWN!!! We were on our feet the whole show.... I've been to many concerts over my 50 years and never have I stood up during the whole show! And I've seen Steppenwolf, Emerson,Lake, and Palmer, Peter Frampton, Rod Stewart, The Stones, America,Kansas,ZZ Top, Stroke Nine and many more!! What a night!!!!!!! Chris, you are the American Idol in my book!!! You have past up the previous winners with flying colors and you will surely have an awesome career!! Take the time to remember the people who have helped you get where you are!!! Stay down to earth!!!! Look forward to seeing you again in Chicago if you pass thru again. Thanks for making the little lady so happy.
