Friday, Marsha and I spent the whole afternoon waiting for the Daughtry concert to begin. We waited on a bridge for the gate to open and when it did we were about 10 feet from the stage, this proved to be the first bad idea I had that day. It was bloody HOT, and we were standing on asphalt, it takes a lot for me to sweat, and I was. We should have brought chairs or a blanket or a tarp to secure our place, but we didn't, another bad idea. We couldn't take it anymore so we moved to the shade of the big tree. We are standing right next to the sponsoring radio station's booth, when we hear they need the contest winners to line up for meet and greet. While we are discussing how lucky those folks are, this guy walks up and tells them; we drove all the way from Georgia to be here, can my wife go…and they let her. Now we are really disappointed, if I had known that was all it would take I would have told them I traveled from the 8th world wonder; the only hole above ground! I stood peeking through the fence wishing I was one of those people for the moment. Oh well, such is life. The rest of our group arrives and we make it our mission to get back to where we started. This proved to be a BIG challenge, it seems that all the sun those people endured all afternoon made them a little cranky (understatement). They were very territorial of their blankets and tarps and the ground they covered. Who can blame them, they sweat it out for 5 hours. We made it up pretty close though. Ten minute to show time with people starting to really crowd forward, I start to suffer from a panic attack, it was hot, no air, there are too many people, too close to me, I can't breath, I have to get out…and that's what I did. I delivered Marsha to my brother with instructions to stay, DO NOT follow me! I went back to the comfort of the big tree, Heidi G was worried about me so she came to keep me company. Not long after the show started a fight broke out, right in the area I left, Chris stopped singing and would not continue until it stopped, thank God I moved. It was an awesome show and with Lohan's help I was able to get pretty close again. When the show was over, our group got separated again, Marsha, Jamie, Heidi G. and I walk around where the bus is parked and we wait…I call my brother and try to get them to come over there, but they wanted to, just head down town to a club (this was yet another bad idea by Celena, made earlier in the evening) My rationalization for the following bad idea was this. The band is on that bus, they are not coming out, they are just waiting for all these fools to give up and go the hell home so they can head on down the road to Texas…so Heidi G and I left to catch up with Travis, Melissa, Heidi L, Mason, Audra and Lohan in old town. Marsha sent me a text saying "we met the band and got pics" I was like yeah right, I thought she was just yanking my chain, giving me a hard time for leaving . I called her and I was like, are you serious, and she was like YES, I'm still skeptical, Marsha hands her phone to the guitar player and he is talking to me, he then put the phone up to Chris and he said "HEEYYYY" At this point I am throwing a ring-tailed fit telling Heidi TURN THIS TRUCK AROUND, and begging Marsha DON'T LET THEM LEAVE TILL I GET BACK, and fighting the sudden urge to throw up. I forgot to mention I drank myself silly under the big tree. We have to park pretty far away, I got out of the truck and ran (I DON'T RUN) all the way back. She was telling the truth (not that she would have lied to me) I got to talk to CHRIS DAUGHTRY! OMG! He signed my phone and took a pic with us. I got to meet the drummer Joey Barnes too, he signed my hand, cuz I got out of the truck with nothing but my phone. There was more than once that day that it felt pretty hopeless, but THAT made it SO worth it. Thanks to the dedication of Marsha and Jamie, and Heidi's driving, I had THE BEST DAY EVVVVEEEERRRRR!
