chris daughtry you rocked my world

??

It is now 8/29, 4 days after the show that I and others waited for months for. It has taken me this long to collect my thoughts. Gotmewrong and debi1960, yes this was about Layne and he was the focus of the whole thing, and I think that's why when it comes to Daughtry I've had a semi-sour taste in my mouth since then. I'll explain.
I did feel a little let down that night. I mean OF COURSE they brought the house down as they always do and of course were the best ones there. But they were so disconnected from the audience and their fans, it was as if they would rather not have been there. Remember at Neumo's in 2/07, they ALL came out and hung out with us before and afterwards. This time there was very little talking between songs, and the guys spent NO time with their fans before or after the show. I mean the guys took the long way around when walking out to lunch (walking around a building and through an alley) so that they wouldn't have to interact with us. These are the same guys that only 6 months ago stood out in the rain for hours in Seattle in February (hello, cold) just shooting the breeze with us, taking pics, signing autographs, etc. We stood outside of the show on Saturday until almost 3am, hoping to see the guys just once. There were 5 of us, 3 of the people in the group were first-timers hoping to get just a small piece of what we had in February. I guess it's wrong of me to expect that kind of experience again. I know these guys are tired as they have been on the road for months. It was just shocking to go from such a perfect night... to absolutely nothing. WELL... Joey did come outside after the show, bless his heart he is such a sport. He was the only one that did though... right before we left, Josh stepped out of the bus (yeah, they were THAT sneaky as no one even saw them come out let alone get in the bus) to get something from his luggage... and didn't even turn around to look at the handful of fans left standing there with hopeful looks on our faces. I had to watch 2 younger fans (early teens?) waiting with their mother end up leaving in tears.
SOOO... back to my point. Could this be because this wasn't actually a DAUGHTRY concert (though they were headlining?), but a tribute to a different artist? Or... being that Chris' wife was there that night (watching from the side of the stage, priceless Smiling )... could her presence be the reason? I just can't get rid of my feelings of disappointment. Oh and if anyone replies, be gentle and reassuring please Smiling
I'm a little pressed for time, I do intend to write a full review at a (soon) later date Smiling

The Seattle Concert Rocked! The band did a great job! My son wanted to go really bad but he wasn't able to go. He was so upset when we got home and there was no Daughtry tee shirt for him:( Anyway we went with another couple from our local area (Longview) and we were 2nd row off to the right with a great shot to the stage! Wished you would have played a little longer but that is ok! The last song for us got kinda crazy because a drunk girl shoved her way upto where we were and started to squash my wife because she was right next to the stage. Trouble almost started but I figured she was drunk and it wasn't worth it. We still had a great time! Can't wait to see you again! Maybe get to meet you in person this time? My wife (die hard fan!) and I have seen you twice now(Portland in Feb & in Seattle) and haven't got to meet you yet. We would love to all meet you expecially my son! Good luck with the rest of your tour and God Bless!

The show was incredible!!!! Both opening local bands rocked out and there was a great video clip about Layne and the battle he lost through his addiction that was very touching. Addiction affects so many families and this tribute is a great way to hear some awesome live music and support a great cause. Addiction is in my family of origin and continues to affect all of us. So, I have to admit that some of the evening was difficult for me and it brought up a lot of emotions that I try to not get caught up in..........so through a couple of tears shed throughout the video clips and the people that got on stage that are in recovery through the treatment center that we were there supporting........I was more than ready for DAUGHTRY to take the stage! I needed a pick me up and the guys did that for me! The only real complaint that I have is that they didn't not sing long enough!!!!!!! Oh yeah and the girl that was really drunk behind me that kept yelling sexual things at Chris while trying to push her way through me (dead center, right behind the first row of people) to get to Chris and be in the front. Now she was an issue!!! I don't know how many times I got hit in the back of the head by her hand just trying to get through (which was not going to happen since I had been standing there since 7:00 so I could be up close and personal)!!!! But overall, great night with great live music and supporting a very important issue of addiction!! I was glad that I was able to be part of it!!!!
Thank you to Daughtry for doing the show and packing the house!!!!!! You guys are INCREDIBLE and you ROCKED!!!!!!!
Now it is off to the Oregon State Fair for another amazing night! Plus, I have a once in a life time thrill to get a meet and greet before the show!! So nervous already that I can hardly stand it!!

I know Daughtry fans get a lil crazy, me included when they talk about chris and the guys but i dont think they meant any disrespect....I didnt know who Layne Staley was either...and i dont live close enough to check out the show so i saw they were doing a benefit and checked out just who he was....this is the review in the newspaper(http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/entertainment/2003854551_layne27.h...
and i think if you were ignorant before about who the man was and what he left to the world of music, Daughtry and Daughtry fans were able to spread the word. Daughtry fans might have went to see them but i am sure they went away remembering they were a part of something more and something that needs to live on as we try to make as many people as we can aware of what losses to familys friends and the music world happens when drug addictions take over. So many lives gone ......we can only try to pass on the impact of their lives and learn whatever we can to make things better.

I had the BEST time last night! All the bands were great but Daughtry was by far the best band there! They did an amazing job and I can't wait to see them again!!!

Well, tomorrow is the big day! How exciting to see the guys live in concert again!!! I can hardly wait!
Not only is our money for the tickets going to a great cause, but we also get to see our favorite band ROCK OUT!!!
Way to go Daughtry fans!!!!! We will pack the place up with LOVE and also support a great cause! For those of us that don't know a lot about Layne Staley or the music of Alice in Chains.......we will before the night is over!!!
It will be an incredible night!!!!

I think people are missing the whole point of this show. Its to honor what an amazing man Layne Staley was and to raise money to help people who are addicted to drugs.

Do you people even know who Layne Staley is?

I think its great that this band is playing but once again please do not forget why they are even playing this show in the first place.

RIP Layne

I can't wait, oh my gosh! It's officially tomorrow! *squee*

You are amazing and would the chance to see you in person!

Just got this news today via Ticketmaster. The venue has changed from the Fenix to the Showbox!
Tickets already purchased for the Tribute when it was scheduled at the Fenix will be honored. This is really a much better venue I understand. I can't wait!!!!

I'm sooo bumming. Why doesn't anything cool happen to us in Cali???

OPEN UP THE BOOK U BEAT ME WITH AGAIN

I know you don't post dates until they're confirmed, but the ticket brokers have had DAUGHTRY tickets on sale for August 26th in Vancouver BC at the Commodore Ballroom (HOB) for some time now. Don't want anyone who just relies on DO for dates to miss out !!! It's a HOB, so it's probably a smaller venue.

If anyone is interested PLEASE email me.... shar869@sbcglobal.net I would really HATE to see these tix go to waste, it is SUCH a good cause and plus its DAUGHTRY!!! LOL

I am so excited that I get to see Daughtry again!!! It has been since last February In Portland that I saw him last. Now I get to see him here, the Puyallup Fair, and hopefully the Oregon Sate Fair!!!
I am so excited that I can hardly contain myself!!! : )
The only thing that would make all of this even better....would be to finally get the chance to meet them at least one of these venues!!! Now that would be icing on the cake!!!!!!!

Hello Daughtry Fans!

As Producers of the 6th Annual Layne Staley Tribute & Benefit, we would like to relay some information about our upcoming event in Seattle, Wa on Aug 25, 2007 featuring Daughtry.

Our official press release went live this morning (May 29, 2007) at 9am (pst). There was a little confusion regarding our event due to the other show Daughtry is playing in September near Seattle, so we thought we'd get online and reduce any confusion you may have.

We hold this special charity event honoring dearly departed Layne Staley (of Alice in Chains and Mad Season) every year to raise funds, hope and awareness for Layne Staley Fund. Please see our Mission Statement at the end of the press release for more information about where we donate the proceeds from this special event.

Here's our official press release:

SIXTH ANNUAL LAYNE STALEY
TRIBUTE AND BENEFIT CONCERT
featuring
DAUGHTRY
SOULBENDER
RIVERBEND
+ special guests
SATURDAY, AUGUST 25 — THE FENIX • ALL AGES

(CLICK ON THE MORE LINK TO READ MORE>>>)

SEATTLE, WA (May 29, 2007) — The sixth annual LAYNE STALEY TRIBUTE AND BENEFIT CONCERT — honoring musician LAYNE STALEY’s life and music — will be held on SATURDAY, AUGUST 25, 2007, 7PM (doors at 6PM) at THE FENIX (formerly The Premier), located at 1700 1st Avenue S., Seattle, WA, two blocks south of Safeco Field. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 1 at 9AM at all Ticketswest locations and www.ticketswest.com

This year’s event features performances by rising rock superstar, DAUGHTRY (whose debut CD is the best selling record so far this year) cites Layne as a heavy influence and is heralded by Rolling Stone stating that, “Daughtry loves to rock — but if the phenomenal impact and enduring legacy of the double-platinum-and-counting debut of Daughtry means anything — it's how enthusiastically the wandering music listener has embraced rock's new standard bearer.” The show also stars iconic Seattle band SOULBENDER, featuring Michael Wilton (founding member of Queensryche), Dave Groves, Chuck Miller, Ray Hartman and Travis Bracht, and up and coming Seattle band RIVERBEND, featuring Izzy Gleason, Jesse Kaein, Cody James and Bryan Seeley. The event will also feature many special touches, which uniquely honor Layne and his fans, including a jam band of special guests from the Seattle music community and a special performance by NANCY McCALLUM, Layne’s mother. This concert also commemorates what would have been Layne’s 40th birthday (August 22, 1967).

Musicians participating in the benefit over the last five years include SECOND COMING, SCOTTY OLSON (HEART), DC & THE WASHINGTONS, REVOLVE, FEAR ITSELF, SOULBENDER, AARON LEWIS (STAIND/acoustic set), KEVIN MARTIN (CANDLEBOX) & THE HIWATTS, TIM BRANOM, TEMPEREDCAST, SURFACE TENSION, and GARY HOEY

All proceeds will benefit LAYNE STALEY FUND, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization created in 2002. Seeking to turn the tragedy of Layne’s death into hope for those that suffer, LAYNE STALEY FUND uses donated funds and proceeds from the sale of merchandise and tribute revenues to support community chemical dependency facilities, drug education, and outreach programs. LAYNE STALEY FUND was co-founded by Nancy McCallum, Layne’s mother and Jamie Richards of Emerald City Musician’s Network. For more information visit www.laynestaleyfund.com or www.myspace.com/laynestaleyfundcom.

Tickets are $25.00 plus applicable service charges and go on sale Friday, June 1 at 9AM at all Ticketswest outlets, including Rudy’s Barbershops and select QFC Food Centers, online at www.ticketswest.com or charge by phone: (800) 992-TIXX [8499]
