I live on the Illinois-Indiana border in a tiny little town called Hutsonville.. and we have the Wabash River RIGHT THERE. like literally RIGHT there. And there was some flooding in town and the entire baseball diamond was filled to almost the top of the little fence that goes around it.. so probably at least 3 ft of water...

and they were pumping water out of the gas station and stuff.. its so weird that it happened HERE..nothing happens in the midwest! But Ive already started bagging up clothes to drop off at a church in Terre Haute..

The night of the flooding I had to pick up my boyfriend from a friends house and take him home and it was so bad my mom just had me sleep over at his house.. i had my muddin' boots on Smiling and when i got out of the car it came up about half way on the boots.. then around 11 that night we got realllly hungry and the rain had stopped.. so we decided to go get Hardees.. he had to carry me out to my car because the water came up to the VERY top of the boots. and he wore them (theyre actually his) n just carried me.. so it affected us here but it was all gone by morning.. just roads and stuff were closed...

i am from southern Indiana....about 2 1/2 hours from Terre Haute.....
It is just soooo sad here!!!!!!! Every time I talk to someone I hear a different story! I know there must be more I can do to help......I have got soooooo many clothes...shoes...purses that I am taking to some shelters this weekend....and also me and Steve are gonna go and volunteer for some clean up on Saturday....you just dont realize that when people say "I lost everything" that they mean EVERYTHING.....nothing is left of their homes....no sheets...towels...clothing....its just crazy.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers....believe me these people need it!

Got your back! Ive already started helping out with ideas Ive heard from the radio.. I wasnt aware you were from southern Illinois.. how far are you from Terre Haute??

You are right about not knowing how things get put in perspective when you live through a tragedy like this one! I too have seen the devistation of TV and your are right TC, you never know what it acutally feels like until you are personally effected. We are planning a Girl Scout camp-out for the girls in my daughter's troop and are asking the girls to bring personal care items for the flood victims. I thought this would be a great way for the girls to get involved. I will definatly be praying for the victims. Thanks for taking time out to open our eyes! I know you already know this but, DAUGHTRY fans are the best!
