~THE TRUTH ABOUT WHO IS RESPONSIBLE~ (and it's NOT VFTW)
I tried to get this message out in the other post having to do with this subject, but it seemed like it got "lost in translation" a bit..
What is going on w/ FLT is NOT about a message board "war of words" or 'fans versus haters", as it were, the real issue at stake is THIS:
WANNA SEE WHO IS AT FAULT FOR THIS MESS? Lemme introduce you to Dr. Luke, rip-off collaborator extrordinaire..And the reason Daughtry's GOOD NAME is being dragged through the mud...(This guy has NOTHING to do w/ the VFTW stuff, and I think that may be where some of the confusion is. this man is a record producer/collaborator/songwriter)
THIS is the "brilliant mind" who has targeted
unsuspecting, honest artists who thought they were getting a hand up in the industry by working with him. Hit maker? HIT TAKER.
He's struck before. ( THIS IS THE 5TH ALLEGATION OF PLAGERISM IN JUST 3 YEARS AGAINST THIS GUY) Just ask Avril Lavigne . she got sued because of this guy. remember 'Girlfriend"? Yeah- Dr. Luke's handywork. Only it was SOMEBODY ELSE'S handywork before Dr. Luke got a hold of it and re-packaged it, without Avril's knowledge...(And it ended up costing her ALOT of money to settle the case, and hurt her reputation as a result)
This Dr. Luke guy is like the "Spirit Fingers" dance- coach- for- hire in the movie "Bring it On".. He goes around peddling the same "routine" to INNOCENT, unsuspecting people who think they are hiring one of "the best" in the biz..Only problem is, the routines aren't originals, exactly. Just re-tooled versions of themselves. He takes all or part of catchy songs with hit potential from groups most people have never heard of, and re-packages them for artists on the rise, and with hit potential...Without their knowledge. Then when the artists blows up big and the song blows up even bigger into a hit, and Dr. Luke gets found out, he leaves the poor, unsuspecting honest artist holding the flaming bag of poo when it hits the door (or when the S*** hits the fan, as it were)
If you hadn't heard this guy's name before, google him.
You guys- who gives a crap about what VFTW said.. or any of the hater comments posted there. It's not even about that. It's about this A-hole who pulled the wool over the eyes of many artists, including our guys.

Once again, THIS ISSUE- THIS POST, has ZERO to do with internet smack talk or heresay or rumors, etc. So "letting it die down" does not even apply in this instance. This issue, the REAL issue at stake, could be fought in a COURTROOM-
This is a LEGAL ISSUE with LEGAL IMPLICATIONS brought on by a dishonest writer/producer who infringed on the work of another artist for monitary gain.
For some reason, some folks cannot differentiate between the two.
The producer, Dr. Luke, who IS NOT AFFILIATED IN ANY WAY WITH VFTW (the site everyone is so fired up about and has NOTHING to do with THIS subject) and stands 5 times accused in 3 years of unlawfully using artists' work without their permission and/or proper credit and compensation,
Has acted in an illegal manner that could unfairly smear the reputation of THIS band and cause damage (God forbid) to their artistic INTEGRITY ( the professional regard in which other artists, producers, and business entities in the music industry deal w/ this band, do business with them, and what they "think about them")
The reality of this situation is: If a JUDGE were to rule in favor of the other band
or if a settlement between the parties is forced, Daughtry's reputation, professional and otherwise, will be damaged BECAUSE of something that was NOT their FAULT- simply because they trusted this MAN to help out with songwriting on their album. And that is WRONG. They do not deserve it, and Dr. Luke needs to do JAIL TIME and have the HELL countersued out of him by all of the artists who his selfish, greedy actions have affected.
Obviously, it is STILL in the media, as it was still being reported as late as 3 days ago, and by multiple news outlets..
And as stated before by several of us, it was acknowledged that this had been in the news before now, and again, this is not the issue.
The issue boils down to
LEGAL ETHICS. And message boards, not only do NOT come into play, but have NOTHING to do with the REAL LIFE issues at stake in this case.
( Sorry to go all "Law and Order" on everybody, but I find myself having to explain over and over the difference between make believe internet chatter and REAL LIFE LEGAL issues. The REAL LIFE legal issues are what this post is about, and the fact that this sheister songwriter/producer guy needs to be stopped)

saw this article weeks ago, and not on VFTW. They got it after the fact, trying to hash up some old news to get attention. This was not started by VFTW, and it is not new. I can only hope Daughtry's lawyers have this well under control. Maybe we'll get an update soon???

I hope no one takes offense as I read but do not post here.
This is old news as far as media sources are concerned. There was a minor blip of attention given to it over the weekend and it died down because people realized Chris has no songwriting credits attached to FLT.
By talking about it or reacting to people who did it's encouraging it to become an issue again. I know everyone wants to protect their reputation, that's good. The best way to do that is to shrug it off because it's died down already.
And normally, i wouldn't get so fired up, but.. this is some serious biz.
Anytime you get the law involved. And it makes me furious that because of the greed and actions of one individual who is 'playing God" with people's careers, that such kind hearted, honest entertainers like Chris and his band are being made to suffer.
Dr. Luke needs to be in jail for copyright infringement or something..so he won't be free to strike again.

( ONE THING- THIS POST, and the information contained herein) HAS NOTHING to do w/ any internet trash talk or rumors. 2 totally different subjects. This has NOTHING to do with "ignore it and it'll go away" or "feeding into the rumors.." That's the part that I think some people may be confused about. The issue here is that there are REAL people are REALLY suing over this. This has the potential to do real career damage because Dr. Luke made a choice that CHRIS NEVER WOULD HAVE (and without his knowledge)- and because of this greedy producer/writer's actions, it could potentially compromise their artistic integrity and lable them as something they aren't- theives. THAT IS THE ISSUE HERE. No doubt that we probobly have alot of NEW traffic.. people hearing the stories, and they are curious, and want to know what's going on, and what we think as fans of Daughtry.. and then there are the people who are just "looking for a trainwreck
Not talking about it and hoping it goes away does nothing to set the record straight. Us loyal, true DAUGHTRY fans have an obligation to rise above and meet our visitors, neysayers, whomever, and BE ARMED WITH KNOWLEDGE. We have the TRUTH behind the rumors, and we can educate our visitors/ new fans, and folks who may not be in the know and have only heard those rumors and school them in that TRUTH. Not bathe them in lies, like what has apparently been posted elsewhere.

You just have to pray for the guys and believe they are going to get through this! I for one am just going to keep on supporting them and going to the concerts!Saying prayers for them is something I do everyday! DAUGHTRY will be around for a loooooong time not going to worry about this!

the fact that it seems like alot of our own folks are ignoring this and dismissing it as nothing more than VFTW just starting "internet rumors" and encouraging trash talk.
It's always scary when the LAW gets tossed into the mix.
And SOMETHING is in the process of going down as we speak, because the Asphalt You Tube video and ALL external links to it have now been taken down.
What does this mean? Have their been injunctions filed? Is there some litigation in process that required that the video come down? WTF is going on now?
Guess we'll have to sit tight and stay tuned.
VFTW is the LEAST of any of our problems right now.
Just keep your fingers crossed and PRAY, send good vibes, well wishes, whatever you got to our guys.

for showing us who is really to blame. It's a real pity that jerks like him have to try and better themselves by sabataging innocent people. It's immature and wrong and can hurt people that don't need to be hurt. I remember hearing the whole deal with Avril Lavigne awhile back. I know Chris is still going to do great things and come out on top. I truly can't stand the Daughtry-haters b/c their thoughts disgust me and I'd rather be surrounded by those who love and support them fully. That's the best medicine!!

Thanks Andrea, I did catch some of the talk a while back but couldn't remember who was involved. This REALLY angers me to think this jerk, has taken advantage of innocent upcoming singers and used them for his benefit. I hope Daughtry comes out of this ok (which I know he will) and slams the door in his face when it is over, if not already. Unfortunately good guys like Chris has to learn some hard lessons in this rat eat rat business. I hate to see all the smack that is talked about Daughtry when they don't even really know who and what he is about. Daughtry WILL triumph out of this and this whole mess is absurd!!! Every blasted group that hears another band play a song with a few words or melody the same as theirs is ready to claim COPY, COPY!! With the millions of songs written throughout the years you will always be able to find something similar with new songs and new bands. PLEASE, GIVE ME A BREAK!! But I am sure this Dr. Luke character IS ripping off some songs because he has no talent of his own!!!
