Album hits UK stores today

Despite the lack of buzz surrounding the It's Not Over single, I'm still fairly confident about the album performance over here with the record company giving it a fair push.

An advert for the album appeared on TV screens over the weekend, there was an ad in the paper this morning, and the record stores here have got posters in the window for it.

The only thing missing is the band themselves? I can't help but feel the guys need to put in a bit more physical work - television appearances etc - in order to make the splash they are worthy of making here.

I wouldn't like to see Daughtry become the next American act in a long line to miss out on British success - particularly when so deserving of it.

All that being said, I am still confident of a chart position on Sunday. And hopefully it will build from there.

Yeh, Chrisc, would have trouble understanding you I'm guessing.Smiling

Interesting what you say about singles successes. MB20/Rob Thomas that you name, for example are played all the time on some radio stations here, but never seen in the singles charts. Have amoungst the hightest airplay!

Even the first 2 Daughtry songs which topped radio airplay and listeners voting charts, didn't achieve too much success in the singles charts.. Well, INO did get to number 8, but 'Home' just hovered about in the top 30 for a short time. Even Daughtry, though it stayed in the top 30 album chart for a long time, didn't get very high.

So what's successful - selling singles or having good airplay with the listeners voting for the songs as their favourites, so they get played more and more!

Am laughing at the how we say Daughtry comment - wait til he hears a Glasgwegian sayin it!! hahaha

That's good you actually got a reply though. I have a feeling the INO single was pulled last minute after the digital sales didn't do much. Physical releases have long since been somewhat of a loss for record companies considering sales these days. So it makes sense they would avoid it if they could. And I know there was a physical single release slated for a week before the album...

I'm anxious to buy the UK album as well, out of support. Am skint now though, so I'll wait til Friday haha.

I've seen it happen with loads of million-selling American acts, that the record company put out one single and think the work is done. It really takes a lot more than that. A lot of Americans would probably be surprised to know the likes of Matchbox 20, Dave Matthews Band, Lifehouse etc have close to no chart history in the UK.

It would be a massive shame if Daughtry's album, which I consider to be one of the best albums I've heard in the last few years, went by completely unnoticed in the UK.

A tour in October sounds great for us fans, but the album could be dead in the water by then Sad

Chris, I totally agree with you, it is a shame a promotion wasnt thought through more before the album was released. I really hope it does well, we need something to rock this country out, with whats in the charts right now.

Im sure the guys do care about the UK market, it seemed that way when we saw them play in June, Chris bless him seemed genuinely touched that everyone in the Borderline knew the words to the album and you could see he loved his banter with the crowd, he loves how us Brits say 'Daughtry' . LOL!!! And in fact I know Joey absolutely loves the UK!! Ha ha!!

I had an email from 19 management yesterday about the INO single release......

Kaz,
The single has been on the iTunes store since May, but it’s only available digitally as of now. It is true that we are currently planning a trip to the Europe this fall, however no gigs have been confirmed yet, and I’m not even sure which cities Daughtry will be visiting. As soon as gigs are confirmed, they will be posted on the Daughtry website.
Thanks,
Alex

Cant understand why INO was billed as being released here on August 20th if it had already been released on itunes in May!!!! I was hoping I could go out and buy it off the shelf.

Yvonne, I thought I was the only fan here in my town (apart from family) but with Woolworths selling 7 copies, seems I am not the only one LOL!! Maybe my neverending talk of the band has worked at work and with friends LMAO!!!!

The advert on TV will definitely help the album, that's for sure.

And yeah it's fair enough the guys have commitments in the US but should the record company really have scheduled the UK release at a time when the band couldn't dedicate their time to making waves here and promoting the music sufficiently? Of course, this is all on the assumption that the band actually care about success in Britain. Maybe they don't consider it important at this stage, I don't know.

I think of acts like Maroon 5 who have spent months over here, touring and building a fanbase, and have clearly reaped the rewards.

Still, all that being said, I'm hoping for a Top 20 position on Sunday.

That's brilliant Kaz! A hit for sure! Should have a good position in the charts - then it'll be sure to get heaps more airplay!
Be good to know you're not the only Daughtry fan there!Smiling

Ad on the TV certainly goes a long way. Often find the album advertised on TV is the one that will top the charts the next week here.

Just a couple of weeks ago no-one here had ever heard of Paul Potts. His show success was on the news, since then his album has been advertised regularly. It went straight to Number One! Often think that with the success Daughtry has had in the US, that it would have been worth TV promotion where ever it's released. Not so in many countries though - including here!Smiling

When the guys came over in June they did do some promotion work, have you checked out the MTV sessions?

Trouble is their tour is quite extensive in the US and they cant be in 2 places at the same time, they should be coming over here around October time and Im sure we will see plenty of them on TV, well lets hope so anyways!!

The video has been shown quite alot on The Box and B4 channels, the commercial is on The Box too, also on Channel 4, it was shown during Hollyoaks (a high rating teen soap) on Sunday, and Ive seen it a couple of times now.
There hasnt been much promotion until this week, there have been a couple of reviews in a national newspaper and the Kerrang magazine.

I already have a the album but still went out and bought more to help with sales.

Most shops I had gone into this morning had sold out, and my local Woolworths had sold 7 just this morning, that is so cool as I live in quite a small town.

In the shops they had it on the shelves in their charts as...
Woolworths it was no 9
Sainsburys no 15
Morrisons no 15
Tescos no 22

Cool huh??? Especially for an unkown band here in the UK!!!
Looking forward to seeing the album chart at the end of the week.
Fingers crossed!!!!
