Rewards program
my thoughts on the whole rewards thing....
I don't want to be ranked. I've been a fan since Jan 2006, I have everything they have produced, I've flown and driven hundreds of miles. No my concert count isn't in the double digits, I'm a poor college student who works for her $ and pays her own bills..but I love those boys.
I'm no less of a fan than those who can hit multiple shows per tour or who have time to play on a website to prove how much of a fan I am to get them to come to my city or to get gifts. And I sure as hell hope that we dont have to "rank" to get VIP. We as fans already do so much for these guys....why do we need to prove our selves as VIP or drumstick or Pic worthy fans. I dont want to compete with my friends to prove who is the bigger fan. But hey if we ARE competing how about this; rather than going out for my 21st birthday in January of 2010, I bought myself a VIP, a plane ticket and a concert ticket to the Grand Rapids concert, 5 months after my actual birthday....so that I could celebrate with some of the best friends I've ever had, with the best band ever. I traveled for 8 hours by plane and car to be riding the rail. And it was worth every penny and every second. So please excuse me while I go about my life, working to get double liscensure in Cosmetology and Esthestics in Iowa and persuing my dreams, rank me what you will, I always have been and always will be a diehard fan.

I think you are seeing this Ranking system very negatively. It doesn't mean being ranked here means they are the bigger fans. It should be ignored because the only reason people are getting ranks is because of the points you get for visiting the site. It's for those who can't afford to buy things from here like myself. So I like the rewards system because then I can get memorabilia for free just by visiting their site. It is in no means reflect that someone is a bigger fan than you are. The rewards program's purpose is solely for giving us less fortunate fans a way to get things that we can't normally buy.
On that note, I have been reading this one email for rewards and I'm not getting my points
I don't get why I'm not getting it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Diane go into the official announcements forum. The RCA Ed thread.... Someone listed all the ways to get points and on average it's about 650 a day. @daughtry_news addressed th missing 500 points that come and go on twitter they said they are aware and working on it. Hope that helps!

and down another 500 points today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
argh this stinkS!
OK - for 2 days now I log out at night and when I log in in the morning - I loose points wtf??????????
went from 13575 to 13425 the other day - last night was at 14550 now this am at 14075?????????
how do people rack up soooo many points in a day/week....Not sure if I'm missing something - logging in, listening to music, watching videos, 2 re-tweets --- what else???
Part of me does like the ranking concept, but I do agree with you too...
For whatever reason, in our present society, many of us (self included) like to 'track' things, ie) where we go, using Foursquare, what we're watching, using GetGlue, etc. It's interesting I admit, BUT, all this tracking takes away from us just living and enjoying peopl, places, music, etc., simply for the pleasure of it being something we enjoy...
I've been on DO from the very beginning too (even though I had, st one point, to re-register, hence my DaughtryFan_Again usernsme...
Just some of my thoughts.
What are yours?
DaughtryFan_Again.
I watch videos...I listen to music on here...the only time I seem to get points is for logging in and sharing on Facebook. What's up with that?

I too have been on here since the beginning, spent a lotttttt of $ on going to concerts, buying everything they put out (including buying 4 or 5 CD's of LTT to get all the bonus songs when it came out) and am a die-hard fan of the boys!!! I think the rewards is a cute thing, if you have time to be on here all the time, have friends here, etc...to earn stuff, but I don't have friends here, or the time to be here much, but I don't take my "rank" for the rewards, as a rank in my being a fan! Sad that people take it that way....(NOT referring to the author of this post in saying that...sorry, it doesn't show your name
I'm referring to how others say how people are taking it that way. I paid for my VIP in the past...and I will continue to do so in the future, as I'll never get to the amount of points to get one!
Have a great day Daughtry Fans!!

I want to know how I can get credit for pre-ordering the new album on here when the rewards program started a few days later?

I agree with the first post. When you are a working busy person, who has time to earn rewards all day on here? I check in occassionally, but it does feel like competing with friends...I don't like seeing that I "rank" low on the site because I didn't have time to click on stuff all day. I, too, have been a fan for years...have gone thru lots of changes to this website...always stick it out, because I love this band....don't judge or RANK ME! But in my opinion, it is harder to keep in touch or post on this new site. I am having trouble finding where my friends are on here....I'm not loving the new site. I have to be honest. I feel pointing out things we don't like or struggle with is a good thing. I also noticed the points are not accurate. I had over 6,000 last night & it dropped in the morning. I'm already over the points and rewards programs...whatever...I just love the band.

I totally get why the rewards program was initiated. It's just a way to get more people on DO. You earn points by linking to other social networks, which could bring in more people. You earn points by soliciting your friends, which could bring in more people, etc. And then you possibly get a little reward if you earn enough points. It's harmless marketing. If there are people who would use it to prop themselves up or put others down, well, then chances are pretty darn good that those people would prop themselves up or put others down anyway! And since those people exist with or without a rewards program, just ignore them and have fun
I just see people taking this way too far, feeling entitiled and using the rank to put others down or to make themselves feel like a better fan. I'm a diehard, no need to rank me. Sure it'd be nice to earn a VIP, but im not going to work my ass off on a website for it. I like what Cavo is doing, having missions to complete...that is fun and it will get the word out, this seems like it is just within the fanbase. The only ones who know about the changes are already on DO. And I hope that if we are supposed to use DO more, then DO will stay more up to date. we should be able to get all the info off of here. for someone who may not be a diehard and be on twitter and have all the other diehards as friends they are misssing out on a lot of information if they just come here to look for show dates or other info.

Jacy, I don't think it's about "ranking" fans. It's a way for fans to earn things if they want ie: merchandise, VIP etc. I have merchandise under the sun too, but I'll earn a VIP if I can. I don't think they will take away VIP's to purchase. You have to realize to that this is a way to get fans on to their site to hear their music and broaden their fan base. It's the new social media for bands to help them through getting fans to like their music. I don't see it as a bad thing. Cavo is doing the same thing
They know who their real fans are, no website will ever take away the bond they have with so many.
