OPEN LETTER TO RCA & CHRIS ........ WHY IS THIS BEING ALLOWED?
PTBs & CHRIS,
This morning, tickets for DAUGHTRY appearances supposedly went on sale through Ticketmaster for 6 or 7 venues. With pitifully few exceptions, tickets were sold out in seconds.I personally sat at my computer & tried for tickets in Indy for friends there who wanted to go - no luck. And I am definitely not alone!
Fan boards everywhere, including this one, are positively exploding with angry, disappointed & frustrated fans who have had the same experience. One person was first in line at a TM outlet and was told there were no tickets left ............. how is this possible?
It is possible because tickets are being pre-sold to brokers then sold to the public at inflated prices. Pre-selling tickets at large venues has been a practice for many years but in the case of this tour, with venues of such small capacity - it never should have been allowed. eBay has countless examples of brokers selling tickets BEFORE TM opens the sales!
I have said this in another thread, but will repeat it here. There is no way on this earth that RCA could not have known the popularity of DAUGHTRY ........ cd sales are enough to prove that and Chris' recent appearance singing the Anthem at the Bears game has only made him more popular.
RCA HAS TO SIT UP & LISTEN!
This tour was kept small so the PTB could see DAUGHTRY's drawing power - well we out here knew all about that before the high-paid execs - we bought the cds - we lined up for two-song TV appearances at unGodly hours of the morning - we travelled miles to get to see him - and we can't get tickets unless we pay obscene prices.
SUGGESTIONS FOR RCA
. rebook the rest of the tour at larger venues in the same cities
. allow those who have managed to get tickets to exchange them for the larger venues
. stop presales to brokers if you stay with the smaller venues
. read some of the fan boards besides this one
WHAT I AM AFRAID OF
There is a huge amount of deserved negativity arising from this debacle, to the point that some folks are now directing their frustrations at the band itself, which is undeserved. It is my hope that DAUGHTRY itself does not suffer from this.
CHRIS
As a fan from the very beginning, when I used to write interminable bulletins on myspace, I cannot stress how much your fans are hurting. We love you and the band and are ecstatic at your success ........ but all of that is being overshadowed by the fact that we cannot get to see you perform.

A NOTE : just in case someone out there thinks I am looking for tickets to be handed to me - I am going to Orlando
A REQUEST: if you choose to post in this thread, please, no invectives or foul language - perhaps if we keep our cool somebody will wake up & take notice
Thank you

I totally agree with the first post.... I was online at 10:00 am trying to get tickets for the Louisville show. After that was unsuccessful I called ticketmaster...they told me they were sorry and that it sold out the minute they went on sale. I explained that I was online tryin to get them right at 10, their reply...someone else was faster.
So I started calling venues....I finally got a hold of someone at Birdy's in Indianapolis. They informed me that they aren't being sold out to humans....they are being sold out to computer programs. Either other companies have formed programs to buy all the tickets before they actually go on sale, or my theory is that ticketmaster is selling out to these other companies for much more than the face value.....Tickets for the Lville show are going for 145 on some websites. It's ridiculous...because someone is making a HUGE profit.
The person that I spoke to at Birdy's also told me that they tried to convince Daughtry's management to move the show to a larger venue right up the road from them called, "The Vogue." Birdy's can only hold 400 people, while the Vogue can hold 900....BUT, Daughtry's management wanted no part of that. But honestly, who could blame them....If they are booked at smaller venues, they will likely sell out.
I don't blame Daughtry for this incident....It has been going on for years. Especially for sporting events, etc. It's very unfortunate...I am a constant concert goer, and hope that trends like this don't continue....It only hurts the artist, because eventually people will get sick of paying big prices and will stop going.
If Daughtry were so INTO making money, they would be selling their tickets at $100 instead of $20?
HMMMMM.
I applaud their success.

hey, everyone...
i am one of the ones that could not get tickets, BUT, i used to work for a concert venue and i can shed some light on their practices for you
in college, i worked at an arena, and we sold our own tickets, plus allowed ticketmaster to sell them...they way that works, is that we allocate certain sections of the arena and give that section to ticketmaster
for certain shows, we had a certain sectoin set aside for fan clubs (per the artist's discretion)...the times that we did this, the fan club members had a wrist band, and we would sell the fan club section only to those with wristbands, and when it sold out, the rest of the fan club had to buy regular seats
we had phone sales, walk up sales, and automated internet sales, and on first-day sales, we were damned busy
there were times when people called us in anger because ticketmaster said their ticekts were gone within the first few minutes, when we had hundreds or even thousands left, because of how the allocation works
also, local radio stations and sometimes televions stations are always given tickets to give away just before the show
what you have to realize is that a certain number may show up to the venue as "held"...but that "held" could mean that they are for ticketmaster, or some are for the family, radio execs, local contest giveaways, etc
Amen to your post. Unbelievable. I sat at my computer before 12 on saturday to get tix for the boston concert and was told by ticketmaster and the venue only minutes after they went on sale that they were sold out. I was also told that for a venue like Paradise Rock Club which only seats 650 people, 200 of those tix were held. Why is this??!?!?
Did you see on the News page today???
A DaughtryOfficial.com Preferred Ticket Club is coming!!!
Now that's the way to keep the money in the band's pocket!

"Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality."
Well, like many others I fell like I was punched in the gut. I tried desperately for hours starting at 9:58 am to get ticketts for the show. We had 4 computers and 3 phones going and we were like crazy people typing & punching over and over again until I heard straight from an actual person at ticketmaster that dreaded message he said that members of the site got a and they were sold out before 10:00. I don't believe really that version of events but nevertheless my daughter (imachrisaholic) & I are broken hearted & out of luck. I was really hyped to go to his concert it's been a while since my concert days and was flattered my 19 year daughter was not embarrassed to attend with me.

I'm so happy to know someone, actually a few, that are speaking out on this matter! I am not here to point fingers or put blame on anyone, but I surely will not sit back and not put in my peace! What has happened to so many of us fans is absolutely ridiculous! I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN! Tickets sold out before they go on sale, people first in line, and already sold out? Sold out in less than 30 seconds! Akll us fans want is to see our guys, but at broker prices? It's so unfair to so many of us!
Hello Karen
I have just read the announcement re the VIP tickets, and along with it the pre-sale tickets to fans teaser . Moderating a site such as this cannot be an easy job, and listening to the recent raft of complaints must have only worsened the situation.
Thank you on behalf of us
for your listening on behalf of RCA

I LOVE THIS SITE! LOL IF STRANGERS CAN COMMUNICATE AND SETTLE THINGS SO EASY THEN WHY CANT THE REST OF THE WORLD. ACTUALLY THIS AND JOHN MAYER IS THE ONLY FAN SITE I HAVE EVER WENT TO, SO I AM REALLY A NEWBIE WHERE FAN SITES ARE CONCERNED. I'M NOT A NEWBIE TO THE FRUSTRATION THAT HAS COME FROM YEARS OF DEALING WITH TICKETMASTER AND PAYING SCALPING FEES. I MAINLY TRIED TO GET TICS FOR THE INDY SHOW THIS MORNING SO I COULD HAVE A COUPLE FOR MY HUSBAND AND ME AND WAS GOING TO TRY FOR ANOTHER COUPLE TO SELL ON EBAY FOR THE PRICE I PAID...THEN MY HUSBAND REMINDED ME THAT A SCALPER WOULD PROBABLY FAKE BEING A FAN AND BUY THEM FROM ME!!!!! GEESH.....LOL BUT ALAS...AS USUAL....TRIED FOR AN HOUR OF OVER AND OVER CLICKING AND NOTHIN...SIGH..BUT I AM USE TO IT(I SUCK THAT UP LOL) AND JUST PUT MY DAUGHTRY CD IN AND EJOYED THE IN HOME CONCERT! LOL I KNOW I'LL SEE THEM SOMEDAY....AND UNTIL THEN I WILL LIVE VICARIOUSLY THROUGH THE GREAT FANS OF THIS SITE THAT CAN SHARE WITH US THEIR LIVE IN CONCERT EXPERIENCES. LOL ITS NOW COLD WINTER HERE IN INDIANA BUT CHRIS AND THE BAND IS MAKING THE WORLD ALOT HOTTER! THANKS CHRIS AND FANS FOR SHARING.
STILL COMMITED AND LEARNING WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT
(GOOD GRIEF, I'M A 46 AND A GRANDMA....AND ALWAYS LEARNING, LOL)
Debi, lets call it a truce, ok?
If you look on my post I put a smiley face to show no offence was taken. I was also just stating facts as I saw them.
Glad to have you on Daughtry's side.
TO PANTHER9999,
I AM SO SORRY I UPSET YOU. I THOUGHT I WAS POSTING A COMMENT JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE HAD THE RIGHT TO DO. YOUR RIGHT, IT IS HELPFUL TO VENT AND THAT IS WHAT THIS PLACE CAN BE USED FOR. MY OPINION WAS THAT BIG BUSINESS HASNT CHANGED IN MY 25yrs OF CONCERT GOING BUT WE KNOW CHRIS IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE AROUND AND PLAY AT BIGGER VENUES SOON. TO THINK POSITIVE AND KEEP THE SUPPORT FOR HIM AND THE BAND COMING. I THINK EVERYONE AGREES WE HAVE ALL HAD THINGS WE'VE HAD TO FIGHT FOR. I DIDNT TELL ANYONE TO LIE DOWN AND LET PEOPLE WALK ON THEM AND IF YOU ARE GOING TO TWIST MY WORDS THEN YOUR REALLY SADDENING THE PURPOSE OF THIS SITE. I THINK THE WORDS "SUCK IT UP" OFFENDED YOU AND I APOLOGIZE FOR THAT. MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE USED THE PHRASE, 'PICK A BATTLE WE CAN WIN"? LOL IT WAS JUST MY OPINION AND TRYING TO BE POSITIVE AND AGAIN I AM SORRY I UPSET YOU. I WILL TRY TO BE MORE SENSITIVE IN MY WORDS.
"TRYING TO BE MORE SENSITIVE TO FEELINGS DAUGHTRY FAN"
What you say is of course possible ........... not all DAUGHTRY fans inhabit message boards after all. That being said, if several brokers each get their hands on 20 tickets for any given event, say about 20 each, that could add up to 100 or so tickets, add that to a possible 100 or so being held for the band - as has been reported elsewhere and you have already eaten up half the capacity of some of the venues. Of course the remaining tickets are going off TM in the wink of an eye to fans as well. We are admittedly a concentrated group .......... but I think the problem really lies in the way this has all been arranged; there is no reasonable explanation for a small venue tour in the case of DAUGHTRY.

No, my show is in Nashville. They were sold through "ticketbiscuit" or something like that. And like I said, they were gone in a quickness. I wholeheartedly intend to ask around at our show and see how many were able to purchase them directly and how many had to use a broker or eBay. I see a lot of you were trying to go to Boston. I'm so sorry

~Thank God for Chris~
Keep convincing yourself.
As a person posted earlier this really is nothing new . Iv been buying concert tickets for years . Iv stood in line at the venue and saw first hand just what the person that won the lottery was offered .
You thing she got row 1 , or maybe row 3 ? Nope . She got row T !
Of all the fan clubs that i have belonged to , any presale that goes thru ticketmaster , or any ticket place they are only offered what that venue offers .
The only thing that seems to work is when a certain artist goes above and beyond and holds choice seats in the front for the fc members . But then they have to control HOW you get tickets such as you have to stand in line , and i mean camp out , to get tickets.. well you get 1 ticket or 2 , NOT 4 !
And this is not what fans want to hear . They dont want to stand in line to get tckets .
This eliminates the scalper getting tickets from another state and the fan who " just tries to see what they can get " and ties up the sale .
But honestly , this is rare . And even when this happens the venue , scalpers still get those certain seats " held" for them .
I don't know how it works but i do believe that ticketmaster and the venues have a relationship with the ticket brokers .
People point fingers at the artists and complain about that its their fault etc . They really have their hands tied when it comes to certain venues and presales what they can offer.
Now some venues they don't and than you can get better seats .
But remember Chris is playing in small clubs right now so they don't have many tickets available to start with .
My area , Madison Wisconsin is a perfect example . The sale is NOT done thru ticketmaster . The club uses a online service that is just for that club .
As a matter of fact tickets when on sale at 1 am ! lol
The show STILL isnt sold out .
So for you fans that live in Chicago , Wisconsin is close enough to go to a show . You might want to consider buying tickets to see Chris at the anexx in Madison .
did you get tix for BOSTON? havent seen anyone yet that has, if you did I hope you have a great time and will be happy to finally see someone from here who got them for here. not from ILL or Ohio selling on ebay

I do agree that sounds suspicious. I was able to snag 2 tickets this morning and within 2 minutes there were no more. I definitely agree you all have a right to be upset; I would be also. But my show was not being sold throught ticketmaster at all and they were gone in a flash, too. I don't know, maybe its just the tm system?? Perhaps someone should get in touch with them to check it out?

~Thank God for Chris~
Keep convincing yourself.
I am the one whose hubby was 1st in line at a tm , he was there at 10am as the tix were to go on sale at 12. The gut at the counter put in 4 tix as soon as buy came up and he got nothing. The guy even said "I've never seen that happen before, thats wierd. someone must have been tampering
with it. I was online here as soon as it said how many i put all info in said request could not be met, also was on phone with tm told them i needed four he said sure then said oh wait looks like they are gone. that fast i think not....somethings up, wouldn't ya think? now i guess we hafta wait till bigger venues cus i will see DAUGHTRY they are the best band to come around in a long long time. do i blame the band NOOOOOO. i blame the people who are giving the tix to the brokers and i dont think the band has a clue yet as to what is going on. imo

Debi, we are all intelligent and aware people here. And I think if you reread our posts, we were asking for a response from RCA.
And if you read further there was no mention of stopping the support of Chris. Everyone here loves Chris and the band.
All of us have learned to fight for the things in life that would help everyone. We haven't given up and won't stop as long as injustices like this keep happening.
I'm sorry you feel no change can happen.
I'm sorry that you feel everyone should lie down and let people walk on them. If anything, us venting and having this communication with other people is helping us to get over the disappointment.
So no I politely decline to "suck it up". Thank you for your comments.
that maybe the majority of the tickets were going to fans that just aren't boardies? I mean 200-500 tickets per venue all going to brokers is just... well, unbelievable. I'm not saying it couldn't/didn't happen, I just wonder if it is possible that since DAUGHTRY is a platinum selling band that maybe they are being sold to folks who simply don't post on boards like this...
I don't know how many members there are on this board, but at any given time I see about 200-500 fans online at a time. And all the other forums combined that I frequent, maybe 1000 fans total who actually post. A few thousand fans barely constitutes the 1.3 million albums DAUGHTRY has now sold.
I know it is happening, I saw a broker site for the show I am going to, they had about 20 tickets. eBay had about 15. I don't know how many our venue holds, but I just wonder if it's possible that fans are getting them (just fans no one knows about)... and maybe they aren't here because they did indeed get their tickets and have no concerns to express?

Helen: I hope that by doing all these postings, that TPTB will sit up and take notice at how much anguish and misery the system now in place for tickets is causing Chris's LOYAL DIEHARD fans. Is this what he would want for us? I don't think so!!! RCA and any of the others involved in how they ticket system is run should be ashamed right now. Yes the tickets disappear in minutes, seconds even. And from what I've read they disappear even BEFORE they go on sale to the public...Please do something NOW while you can and let the fans know that they matter more than the bucks...

Well fans, are you really surprised about the ticket sales? Ive been going to concerts for 25 years and if ticketmaster was involved, the chances were always rare that i'd be able to get tickets. I'm use to it and you better get use to it too and just suck it up. The music business has always been a political machine that rarely lets established bands have much say, let alone a newcomer like Daughtry. Its almost always impossible to get tickets especially when they start in the small venues. Like i said...suck it up...its not gonna change when money is at stake. The "powers that be" know how big Daughtry is gonna be and that just means more money in their pockets and the control to do it like they want. Are you really going to stop buying an artists music that you love so much just because of the way ticket sales are handled? I dont think so and they know it. So, that said, move on and remember why Chris and Daughty are doing what they do....because they love what they are doing and want to share it with you. Buy the music, support them anyway that you can and try to be more positive because you KNOW Daughtry is going to be around for a long time and your chance will come to actually be at a venue and experience the music live. Remember the good and dont make things as negative so that Chris and the band can concentrate on what they have the power to do. We love Chris and need to be positive and supportive....so show some love...and lets move on.
Commited (no, not padded walls lol) Daughtry fan in Indiana
Thankfully I've been able to buy tickets for the Phoenix show but I have friends who can't get tickets for their cities shows because of the ticket brokers buying up all the tickets. This is outrageous and needs to be stopped!! I have never heard of this type of thing happening before. This is wrong and not fair to the fans. I hope someone will step up and fix this and make it right!!
Thank you Helen! You said it right!! Maybe RCA will actually read this, doubt it, and will do something. They are doing concerts at small venues, of course they are going to sale fast, but give the "fans" a chance to see this instead of presaling them to people that will make a huge profit off of this!!!
www.myspace.com/mandi1029
Good job Helen, lets hope someone reads this and may actually do something about it!!!
I've booked flight tickets to Orlando to see the guys, and was also hoping to see the Tampa show whilst Im there, how come it is completely sold out when this site doesnt even say they are on sale yet? huh?
Well as I'm travelling from so far away, myself and my friend have 'had' to buy tickets off ebay!!! No fare!!! (((stamps feet)))
I am sooo gutted for my fellow Yah-Yahs, who have followed Chris from the very beginning and also those who cant afford to buy from these scalpers, who arent even interested in the band, all they are interested in is making money out of Chris's loyal fans!!
Surely Chris cant be happy with this?!! Something needs to be done!

Amen! and Amen! Brokers? Whats up with that? These venues are too small for that . It's absolutely insane! I tried for tickets to the Charlottesville VA show Thursday morning. We had 3 phone lines and we're online. NOthing! Sold out in less than 1 minute. No, i'm not exagerating. RCA , there's no way you didnt know what you had on your hands with Chris Daughtry. Do you not search the web? Do you not know how many fans there are? Just think about it... If there are this many of us willing to spend time online discussing all that we do imagine how many more fans there are! Hello! Did you not notice the CD sales? I find that hard to believe since he is making you tons of money. The fans hard earned money. Most of us are middle income families. See that last word? Families.. I think Chris has one of those to support too. That means we can't afford to pay the over inflated prices that are being charged. Do yourself , the band and the fans a favor... stop the brokers! Stop the scalpers! Maybe whoever you have in charge of this needs to be adjusted.. They are obviously failing at their job!
I agree with all of the comments posted as it happened to me too! I tried to get tickets to Charlottesville the second they went on sale only to be told they were sold out!! Someone needs to pay attention to us! We are the true fans who have been behind this band every step of the way and would be willing to do anything to support them. It is ridiculous that we can't even get tickets to shows! I am very saddened by this!! This was supposed to be a very happy time for true Daughtry fans, to finally get to see the band on their first tour, and now it has turned into a time of dissappointment for so many of us! RCA you must do something about this!!
Jennifer
Hear you Kalan, after reading all the disappointments from the strong fan base of Daughtry yesterday and today, this is a debacle of the worst kind.
Disappointment abounds today in all the fan sites.
All fingers of this problem points to the management not being prepared unfortunately. I know the band certainly wants the fans they know and love to be at these shows. They tell us all the time, hope to see you at the next show. And they really mean it.
So my guess is they don't even know this is happening.
If this continues it is seriously going to hurt the reputation Chris Daughtry has built over the last year of being a kind, caring and sensitive person. And the band members picked also have these qualities.
I also don't want to see this happen!!
I was lucky enough to get tickets for Indi but so many didn't that my joy is muted with grief for the others. I was also trying to get tickets for Chicago but didn't get them. I'm disappointed but am lucky to have one at least from what I have seen. I'll just count my blessings and hope everyone else gets them too eventually.
So many people here can't afford the inflated prices they are being sold for on EBAY. So they won't be going.
Please hear our plea and do a formal answer to this horrendous thing that has happened to the tickets for the people on here.
I was more than ecstatic to hear Daughtry was coming to Nebraska, only to be crushed this morning when I couldn't get tickets. The second ticketmaster opened the lines, the tickets were gone. So, I flipped over to Ebay, and shock of shock there were several listed there already at severely inflated prices!!! I'm a working mom of three. I can afford the original ticket cost of $20 plus fees, but the gouging that's going on on Ebay is ridiculous. I don't have $100 - $120 to spend per ticket. I'm now at the mercy of the VIP offer to pick me, as there is no other option for this Mom to see Daughtry. Please change the presale to brokers policy for the sake of the fans!! Heavy hearted and crying my eyes out in Nebraska - Jen
Jenn --

To those who were shut out of the ticket buying process, my heart goes out to you. I know what you must be feeling and I can't tell you how sorry I am. The majority of us are on limited budget with families to support, mortgage and car payments to make, real world responsibilities...we can only hope to get to one show, maybe two if the tickets are reasonable enough. If we travel, that takes up more time/money/arrangements away from work or home that we have to struggle with and plan for. But we do it gladly, regardless, because we are fans of the man and his band. We are not asking for much, just a fair opportunity to buy tickets to see a show. Not a dozen, not 20, just one for most of us, maybe 2. Because he has touched us and we want to give back just a smidge of the joy he has given us. I don't think that's asking for much.

17 shows and counting...
I've been reading everyone's frustration and anger over this ticket debacle and all I can say is.....SOMEBODY HAD BETTER DO SOMETHING TO MAKE THIS RIGHT FOR THE FANS, if not this tour, then the next one!!! I'm absolutely dumbfounded by this situation. I have been buying concert tickets for 40 years and have never EVER seen anything like this. It boggles the mind that this is happening. It is my sincere hope that there is someone in the organization who understands the fans' concerns and puts a plan into place to even the playing field for the average fan who just wants to go to a concert.
