There's one line in this song that I just can't get. All the lyrics I find online say the same thing but to me, it just doesn't sound like it's what he's saying. Any thoughts?

he played this tonight!!! even though i wasn't there, i still felt i was in the front row watching when the online feed was up. it was so awesome, and now i can't wait until he comes to columbus in a few weeks!
So I had this song going in the car on the way home from work yesterday and remembered seeing this topic, and *leaned in* to the radio to listen better
. This is my take on the missing lyric, and I think it's a rhyming possibility:

Giving in ONLY MAKES US NUMB
(but I thought it was...)
Now we HIDE what we have become

and some say... Fit the pieces into walls we used to CRAWL away
The best choices I have found for the one you seek is

Also at the end some lyrics say...
Another vise to ease your pain
some even say another advise to ease your pain but I think that is wrong
But I thought he said
I'M NOT a vise to ease your pain
or even
I'M NOT ABOUT to ease your pain
