anyone watching new season of American Idol??
I am going to watch it. Though didnt really care too much about last season but thats just me. i hoping this season will be better BUT in my opinion NOONE will EVER be as good as Chris Daughtry and David Cook. They both are truly the best in American Idol history

I'm so so happy Lee won. One of the radio stations here in Chicago has been playing Beautiful Day about once an hour. I've caught it a few times on my way to and from work. I get so excited whenever I hear it - and the recorded version is much better than how he sang it on the show.
I loved all the Simon tributes - he deserved all of it. But I didn't like how Ryan had to keep saying "tonight's all about Lee and Crystal," because it obviously wasn't - it was all about Simon and they happened to announce the winner in the same show. But anyway, I really liked the performance by the former winners and contestants, but it was a shame that David Cook couldn't be there. It would've been neat to have all the former winners there for that.

YAY!!!!!!!! I'm so incredibly happy that Lee won. I knew he could/was going to take it! For a moment 1% of my thought Crystal was going to win so I got nervous. How cute was he when Ryan was about to announce it and he was hunched over nervously.
For a while there I forgot that the show was about Crystal and Lee with everything else that was going on. I did enjoy all the Simon stuff though. It wont be the same without him cause he cannot be replaced.
I'm soooooooooo happy
Yay Lee!

Final thought - for the first time ever I think, I like both the top 2 and don't mind who wins.
But my favourite this year was Siobhan!
Wonder who Chris supports this year. I remember it was Kris Allen last year.
Has anyone heard him say anything?

I'm going to miss tonight's episode! I hate missing it, especially now! I know I'll have it recorded but it's not the same
and how am I supposed to vote.
I'm not to upset cause I get to see Love And Theft and Lady Antebellum yay! To bad it's not just them (so they could have a longer set). I am really not a fan of Tim McGraw's at all but I do love country music.
*Laurie*
I can finally talk here again, as we're all caught up in NZ! Have watched every show but bei ng a week behind you all, didn't want to come and know results ahead.
After watching the Top 4 and Top 3 shows plus results over 2 nights, am very happy with the Top 2.
Both really deserve to be there - was getting concerned about who would be in the final the way things were going!
Casey just didn't seem to be putting any effot into anything, was all the same - a nice guy for sure, but with no emotion or feeling - except for just one week!! Sorryif it upsets Casey fans, but seems he got through on a nice smile and his guitar playing!
Am happy if either wins now.
But have been really impressed more and more with Lee each show. He's a bit like Kris Allan was - quiet guy who didn't stand out much at the beginning but slowly and surely came out in front by impressing everyone with what he could do! And yes, is a real nice guy too - and really speaking well and confidently now and is determined and positive. And yes of the top 3, he seemed the one most of all who really did want to do all he can to come out on top as the winner. And he is the one stepping up most of all!
It's really nice how Simon is towards him and must mean a lot!
But still like Chrystal too and she is certainly a good performe r and singer. I reckon she's someone who will do well whatever the result.
But agree with comments here - it could well be Lee who come sout in front in the end nowand good luck to him if he does!
Am now caught up with you there and will see the final just 5 hours later than 'live' in the US. Shame I'll be at work that night and have to record it!

I like both Lee and Crystal so I am cool with whoever wins. I think they both deserve to be the F2.
I really think Lee will win. He seems like a very nice and humble guy. I loved watching all the homecomings. They all seem like nice people.
Terri
Did anyone find tonight's show a little strange? It just felt very weird to me. If for some strange reason Lee does not win (yeah, like that'll happen) I'm going to be one very unhappy camper! He deserves it so much. He just keeps going uphill and impresses me with every song. When I hear Crystal say things like the only reason she's there is for her son to have a better life then to me that sounds like she saying she's just there for the money. She could at least throw in that music is her life and or passion. I apologize to the Crystal fans for my ranting.
*Laurie*
Steph - I just got to see your pics (was logged in on my phone last nite & couldn't connect). They were awesome - you couldn't have been too far from us either because the "VIP Lee Zone" was on that side of the stage too
Thanks for sharing
I agree with Terri - I really think Lee is going to win, even if only judging by the 40K + screaming teenagers there on Friday nite!
I think Lee is going to win now. At the beginning of the season I would have sworn Crystal would win, but I think Lee has pulled ahead the past few weeks. Hope they are the F2. Lee seems like a very nice, humble guy.
Terri
Dionne you were there too!!!! That is so awesome! I'm sure it was super fun.
Lee was incredible tonight. I really enjoyed both songs but "Hallelujah" just about did it for me. I made sure to get my votes in
As for Casey, looove the song "Ok, It's Alright With Me" but that was not a song to sing to get you into the top 2. I really think Randy and Kara did him wrong by picking "Daughters". They could've picked a better song that's not so ......... can't find a word. I'm sure I can find a few songs on my pod that'd been better. I'm kind of upset with Randy and Kara
. I do think both those songs would've fitted Lee better than Casey.
I was going through songs I thought would've been better than Daughters
The Pretenders - I'll Stand By You
Matchbox Twenty - Bright Lights
Extreme - More Than Words
Edwin McCain - I'll Be (even though it's been sung to death for auditions)
Keith Urban - 'Til Summer Comes Around <------would've been amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! even "Raining on sunday" or "Stupid Boy"!!!
"Across The Universe" and "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" would've been good too.
It just makes me so mad
Sometimes i put to much energy into idol lol.
*Laurie*
First off Steph - I was there on Friday too! I won four tix from 105.9 and got their email @ 1130 Friday morn. I was screaming! I picked my dgtr up from school and went straight there, met a friend there too. We had a blast - I took a few pics but haven't taken them off my chip yet. And the "VIP" radio passes got us in one of the sections right down by the stage, where the Idol cameras were sweeping over all nite. So look for Emi and me - we had a bright yellow posterboard that said "We 'heart' Lee" with 2 Lee pics I printed off the Idol site. And I agree with Steph - Lee was great! We had such a blast, a unique experience.
And now for tonight's show - HOT!!! But I must say - and not to offend any of his fans on here - but Casey just seemed out of it. Lee and Crystal blew it away. They appeared to be trying so much harder than Casey, like they were in a totally different league. If Casey makes it through, it will be the 2nd biggest shock in Idol history. We all know what the first was
Aww Steph your pics are great, so many people. That is so awesome that he did that many songs. Only a super awesome dude would do that. I want him to win so bad too. I can't wait to hear him do "hallelujah", such a great song. I'm sure that's going to pretty much seal the deal. Can't wait to see the homecoming this week.
*Laurie*
As promised, here are my pics from Friday night: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2044035&id=49300559&l=0872edae1e
It was quite possibly one of the coolest things I've ever been a part of. He was so gracious and humble. He was scheduled to sing 3 songs, but decided to do an 11 song set instead. In fact, he finished his 10th song, put his guitar down, and the crowd started chanting "One more song!" He looked around and decided to sing just one more. There were over 40,000 people there - that had to be the biggest homecoming concert in Idol history! He said Simon picked his judge's song for this week and he'll be singing "Hallelujah." I personally love the song choice and can't wait to hear it. After seeing him live and how he reacted to the day (he cried about 10 times during the concert) I want him to win even more. He's such a good guy and deserves to win this thing.

Steph - you are so lucky to get to go, but you know with all this rain we've had, you better wear some hip boots or something cuz I'll bet the field at Arlington is probably a mess
Have a great time!
I admit, I was a bit disappointed to see Mike go but I too am glad that Lee & Crystal made it through. I think Mike is gonna do just fine, though. He def has a sellable voice
You have been gone for a while, good to see ya back. Oh wow, you get to see Lee. That's amazing, I like him a whole lot. Can't wait to hear how it went and I'm looking forward to your pix.
*Laurie*
Hey everyone! Sorry I've been M.I.A. for so long. I don't know what happened. Got busy I guess. I'm very excited Lee and Crystal are in the top 3. I think between Casey and Mike, Mike was the stronger of the two, so he might've gotten shafted a little with the vote. But anyway, I'm just happy Lee made it through. I was lucky enough to nab a couple of tickets to his homecoming concert tomorrow evening. I'm taking my brother with me. It should be fun. I'll make sure to take pictures and post them here this weekend.

The guys were awesome last night! It was nice to see the new drummer in action.
The guys were AMAZING last night. I really like Bon Jovi too.
Terri
I was glad to see Casey made it through. I thought he was leaving too. The guys were great like always as was Bon Jovi.
*Laurie*
I'm thinking Casey too
Liked the Lee-Crystal duet but not much else, except for Simon not knowing any of the movies - that was priceless!
I liked Lee and Crystal's duet and Crystal's solo. I really hope they are the F2. Like them both. Can't wait to see the guys on AI tonight!!!! So excited!!
I think Casey will go tonight. What do you guys think?
Terri
Of all the songs in movies....really???? I didn't really care for anyone tonight. I can't even say anything nice about Lee cause I have always hated kiss by a rose. The duets were very enjoyable though. At least those songs are good. Omg@Casey playing that guitar during HYERLAW, I love nylon strings! Wow, I was just amazed by that. Excited about tomorrow's show.
*Laurie*
Yes I must take back my previous statement about not watching until the finale. I don't pay too much attention to internet chatter so I didn't know the band was performing this week until it got FB'd / Tweeted.
So I guess I will be tuning in before the finale
I actually did enjoy what I saw of the results show last week, apart from Lady Gaga, and normally I like her. I just don't care for "Alejandro". And Laurie I agree with you on Harry - he's dreamy, and I could have sat there with the TV muted, but that wouldn't have been as much fun. I'm also anxious to see the movie songs that get picked - let's hope it's something from Twilight
I was totally wrong about the bottom 2 last night!! lol
Still hoping for a Crystal and Lee finale. But I think it's a good top 4 of the contestants that made top 12.
Didn't get Lady Gaga's appearance last night. That is too funny that she won't be in the same room with Ryan. I find him annoying as well.
Can't wait for the guys to be on it next week!!
Yeah, really like Harry.
Terri
I see your point Dionne and agree. Hopefully next week will be better with movie themes/soundtracks.
All I can say about Harry is that he is one funny dude
He does seem to have a great personality. I agree Terri with Lee, I'm really hoping for him to win. It really bothered me how b4 everyone only talked about Crystal (meaning the judges ect..) and nobody ever mentioned Lee at all. I hope he kills the rest of his performances. I'd love to see Lee and Casey at the finale just cause I don't like Crystal lol. I really thought Casey was going tonight but he didn't so I'm a bit happy about that. I really didn't care who went out of Aaron and big Mike (they always sing the same songs every week).
*Laurie*
..and the bizarreness continues...
I heard on the radio yesterday that Idol is paying Lady Gaga $250K to perform on the show, but it had to be pre-recorded because she won't be in a room with Ryan Seacrest. And I think they said she's supposed to perform tonight.
From what I remembered when I tuned in long enough to see Siobhan get the boot last week, Ryan said this week was supposed to be Sinatra week. Now, OK fine, the man made some great music but seriously? As a 20-something, would you want to get on national TV and sing your grandma's music? Cuz that's tantamount to what that was, if they did Sinatra yesterday (I didn't stay inside to watch. I chose instead to enjoy a gorgeous evening outside w/my dgtr). More power to them if they all or some did justice to Frank's music, but this has been a recurring problem with the themes this year, IMO. It's almost as though their attitude is "well, since Simon's leaving, what do we care?"
And if the story I heard on the radio is true, the dichotomy is astounding. Does anyone else remember when the guest stars on results day used to be related to the week's theme, oh I don't know, like last week for instance? So what exactly does Lady Gaga have to do with Sinatra?
Ugh. Sorry to sound so pessimistic everyone, but I'm seriously thinking that I may just be tuning out completely until the finale.
I might check out tonight's show just to see Harry Connick Jr. I didn't watch last night but I seen on the news that Lee was the top contestant last night. That is awesome! I would love for him to win this, but if he doesn't I am sure he will easily get a record deal and do good in the future.
Mary (12 shows and counting!)
I thought Harry was the best mentor yet. He did a really good job. Love his personality.
I really like Crystal but think she is going to find herself in the bottom tonight. I am going to guess that Casey goes home.
I think Lee is possibly going to win this thing. I hope Crystal and Lee are in the finale, like them both.
But yeah. overall a pretty boring season.
Terri
Yeah this season is basically a dud. =/ I haven't even watched the last two weeks. Ok I lie, I did watch last week to see Lee and then shut it off. I am just not into it at all!! I usually watch the show faithfully but this year I don't have the excitement of tuning in each week to see that one person that you know is going to be amazing and can't wait to see. Last year was great!! Even the year before that was pretty good. But the judges sure did mess it up this year with who they picked to be in the Top 24...and whoever is picking the themes needs to stop, haha!!
Mary (12 shows and counting!)
Yes, definitely a weaker season. It has progressively gone downhill since season 5 imo.
Yes, Daughtry and Bon Jovi are scheduled to perform May 12th.
Terri
You hit it right on the nose Dionne! You haven't even heard any of the judges mention "this is the best season so far" (which they seem to say ever year) cause I'm sure they don't think it is either. I think it's pretty weak and the themes are not very good. They need to let them pick more current/top of the charts kind of stuff or even have a list of songs that the judges pick.
Have you guys heard about Bon Jovi and Daughtry appearing on idol on the 12th? I don't know if that's a rumor or what but I got excited when I found out
*Laurie*
I totally spaced last week and missed everything but seeing Siobhan leave. I'll take all your word for everything being as you said.
Honest question: is anyone else really feeling disappointed this season? For me I think it's a combo of mediocre singers and some bad themes. I just don't find myself glued to the TV each week like I used to be.
Laurie~I really like Lady Antebellum too. I hate that Need You Now gets overplayed too. It's SUCH a good song.
Sorta surprised Siobhan left, I thought she had another week of two. I liked her early on, but quickly grew annoyed with her singing, so I don't mind that she is gone. She seems nice though so I wish her the best.
Terri
I was hoping for Aaron or big Mike to leave b4 Siobhan. I thought Lady Antebellum was great! I hate how they are played everywhere now. To me they are 100% country and I like it that way. I don't like hearing them on every station I listen to. I don't want to get tired of them so fast.
Sorry, things like that can get me worked up.
*Laurie*
Hey! Who do you guys think will go home tonight?
I think Mike might be in danger. And I am afraid Lee might be in the bottom 3 this week. He went first and it wasn't his best vocal imo. Hoping he is safe though because he and Crystal are my top 2.
I thought Crystal was good as usual but it wasn't her best performance. Lee was good, but not his best either. Casey and Aaron did well last night. I am tired of Siobhan. I like her, but her voice is starting to annoy me.
Terri
I agree - results were not surprising this week - and IMO - a little "Thank Goodness!" action going on for me.
Didn't see much of IGB - tidbits here & there. I agree Terri, Annie Lennox was superb. She has one of those fantastic voices that I think will just never fade away - puts one in mind of lifelong career performers like Patti LaBelle and Tina Turner - still kickin it after all that time.
Of the parts of IGB I did see, the one that brought the tears to my eyes was the family from CA featured during Ellen's video about Feed America. It's just so painful to see that heartbreak "right here in our own backyards". And it certainly makes me happy for my family, my friends, and everything I have. Seeing that makes it hard to complain about leftovers for dinner.
Hope you all have a great week and we see something good Tuesday!
Not surprised to see Tim go.
IGB was just ok for me. I thought Annie was exceptional. She is so believable and you can just tell she poured her heart into it. I thought Carrie was flawless. I thought Mary J and the band did a great job.
Terri
WOW, Crystal was awesome last night. Loved her performance. I thought she did a great job. I really hope it's her and Lee in the finale. I like them both.
I think Casey might be in trouble tonight. He will most likely make bottom 3. I think it will be Casey, Tim and maybe Aaron? Is someone eliminated tonight on IGB?
Terri
Laurie-I think Lee keeps improving each week.
Not surprised it was Andrew and Katie last night.
Terri
I've been losing interest in Siobhan too but she's my favorite of the girls. I've recently discovered (last week) that I think Lee sounds a bit like the singer from the Counting Crows and a couple weeks ago I thought he reminded me of Dave Matthews. Does anyone else hear this? As much as Casey bothers me with his song choices I still really enjoy him.
*Laurie*
It was Elvis week!
I thought Crystal and Lee had the best night. I also thought Mike did a good job.
I've lost interest in Siobhan.
I'm pulling for Crystal and Lee and would love to see them in the finale.
Terri
totally missed it tonight, just didn't have time to fit it in
anyone got the info? what was the theme? who rocked? who tanked?
This week was pretty solid all around. No one really sucked big time. I knew the judges were going to save Big Mike, and Simon's attempt at fooling Mike and the viewers didn't work on me. The way he was talking just affirmed my belief that they'd save him. Personally, I would've rather seen them save Didi or hold onto the save in case Crystal or Lee end up at the bottom in the next few weeks, but it wasn't completely wasted on Mike. I'm really hoping Tim will finally leave with the double elimination next week.
I guess I'm the only person that likes that Rihanna song. I haven't liked much of anything off her current album, but I did like that song...the performance is a different story. But this was the first time in a while I actually sat through and watched all the guest performances - they were all decent. The group lip-synced number was ridiculous though. What's the point??? Just have them sing live or skip the group performance all together. This is a singing competition. The show is insulting itself and the contestants by making them lip-sync the song. That was the first time this season I watched the group performance, and it's probably going to be the last. My finger will be firmly planted on the fast-forward button next week.
--Steph--
DAUGHTRY ROCKS...'nuff said!
MARY~I totally agree. Reminds me of season 6 too, although I like the top few contestants better this season. I couldn't get into season 6 at all and didn't care at all who won. This season I would like to see Crystal win and if not her, then Lee.
Terri
Terri I do the same thing for the results show. I fast forward to see who is in the bottom 3. I am just not into this season at all, I can't seem to get excited about it. This reminds me of the season with Jordan Sparks and Blake Lewis, I could care less about that one too. Ahh well they can't all be winners. =p
it will be nice to see Lee and Crystal in the finale.
And it will be AWESOME to see Adam Lambert next week, I will def tune in for that.
Mary (12 shows and counting!)
To be honest, I record AI on results nights and FF through the junk to just watch the bottom 3 feed and the performers. I skipped over Rihanna!
I like some of her stuff, but don't care for that song. I thought they would save Mike. And he deserves to stay. I'm thinking you are right...too many teens voting for Tim and Aaron. I can get the Aaron love I guess, he does seem like a good kid and he does have a good voice. I sorta see the Archie comparisons, but Aaron can at least carry on a conversation without getting all flustered.
They are both good singers. Tim is "ok" he just is the weakest of the group imo. And he is getting annoying. Katie had a good week and she does have a good voice, seems nice, but I wouldn't mind seeing her go soon too. Casey was really good this week. Still pulling for Crystal and Lee.
Terri
I was glad to see the judges use the save on Mike. He deserved it. No way should he have gone home last night. I'm thinking that Vote for the Worst is having some serious influence on this season, or just too many 12 year old girls with iPhones on the at&t network that are sending a bazillion texts in for Tim. Does anyone actually believe that Tim is a better performer than Mike?
Some of my off-DO friends are comparing Aaron to David Archuletta, and after seeing him on the results last night, I repeat my agreement.
And slightly off topic, but did anyone else think that Rhianna song sucked? I thought it was awful. There was a two minute stretch there when all she said lyrically was "I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a rock star".
I knew they would use the save on Big Mike. I think Crystal, Casey, Siobhan, Lee and Mike will be top 5 this season. But I guess one of the others could sneak in.
Terri
A little surprised Didi went over a few others. And is Tim going to be the new Sanjaya?
Top 10 Best Selling American Idols: http://www.accesshollywood.com/top-10-best-selling-american-idols_articl... (@mrsdaughtry)
Terri
I'm very upset Didi went home - she was my favorite girl even with the rough couple of weeks she had. I'm wondering how long Tim will be able to last. I'm worried he's going to get a lot further than people think. I came up with a plan to get rid of him for good in a couple of weeks. Here it is: assuming Tim isn't voted out next week, the judges use the save to force a double elimination the next week. Then Tim will for sure go home the following week because having the second-lowest vote total won't keep him safe with the double elimination.
I think it's a pretty good plan.
One other note - I'm sick of Idol running over its time slot. We tend to start recording the show and start watching it on delay because of all the commercials and potential horrible guest performances on the results show. Last night our recording cut off in the middle of Didi singing, so I had to call someone to find out whether she was saved or not. Very annoying.
