American Idol - 2011, Season 10.
I'm really enjoying American Idol this year.
Now having seen who the top 12 - well 13 - are am thinking it's probably one of the best top groups there's been.
The new judges are good to have too. This from an ardent Simon fan who though Idol just couldn't carry on successfully without him!
Sometime a change does revitalise something and bring new interest to it!
No-one again to compare with the great Chris Daughtry of course, but some pretty good singers, some interesting different performers who I hope will continue to impress and make it worth watching right up to the end.

Not that any are released here but interesting to know who's is doing well after the show.
Thank goodness Daughtry albums are always released here and songs played regularly on the radio still!!!!

It really does seem like a super long time ago.
No country in NZ! What's up with that. Yeah, they play Taylor on like every station possible.
I can only imagine driving through the rockies of Canada and listening to some good 'ol country music. Kinda seems like they were made for each other. That must've been fun.
I haven't heard anything about anyone's album. I'm sure most of them will put one out though.

Don't think I'll get to hear Scotty on the radio here. Never know though! We don't realay get to hear much country music. But Taylor Swift is played on the radio, so that's a start I guess.
I was listening to a Country station driving through the rockies in Canada. Really enjoyed, it seemed to go with the landscape
I wonder who's signed up to record albums. Does anyone know? I read on the internet somewhere that Pia is recording, true of false though?

Hi Yvonne, welcome back. How was your trip?
This area has been rather quiet. I've had computer problems so I've just recently been able to come back online. It was a good ending to the show though. I do think Lauren out sang Scotty but I wanted Scotty to win just cause my sister and I were saying since the beginning that he was going to win. I didn't even vote for Lauren that week lol.
Been hearing them a lot on the radio lately. I even think Scotty sounds better on the radio than he did on the show.

Just got back from overseas and been catching up on Idol! Though seen no one has been saying much about it here!
Anway thought the final 2 were pretty equal in the sing-off and good luck to them both. But happy Scotty won, I could quite happily listen to him singing, love how he tells a story.
Rememberd and looked backdown here - back on March 13th I decided that Scotty could be the one to win this!

Well, the only one consistent performer has been James and loved his 'Will you still love me tomorrow'.
I too wonder how comes Jacob and Haley are still there.
Thought for sure that Jacob would go this week!
But did think it could have been Haley, or Casey could too, he's back into his growling too much.
I like Scotty when he sings telling a story like he did this week again.
Who knows who'll win, the way the voting has gone - and the unexpected winners so often!
Loved Chrystal and for sure she was the better singer/musician last year!
Well, I'll have to wait now - will be away for a few weeks!

Noooooo! I had a feeling that would happen tonight. I'm real disappointed that Casey went home. and it's all my fault cause I didn't vote last night. I've been voting like crazy every week and the 2 nights that I didn't vote 2 of my favorites went home, Casey and Paul. It's totally my fault and they have every right to kill me *waits for death to come*
Maybe next week Jacob will finally go home. James was the only one i really enjoyed this week though. As much as I love Lauren I didn't understand where all the praise came from. I didn't hear her pushing at all. I actually though that was one of her weaker performances. Oh well.

The only one that really stood out for me was James. Great performance again Like hearing of his image of what he wants the performance to go like, he knows what he want to do - and it works!
Though could do without the high notes (screaming) that I don't like from him any more than I did from Adam!!!!

Scotty was just far too corney! Overdoing his mannerisms.

Terri, hope you're not boycotting the show!!!!! I heard the producers have been talking about letting the judges decide who goes in future. Be a good idea to do it like Rockstar was and X Factor - with the judges deciding from the bottom 2 or 3. (Well, that's what the radio news said, true or not, who knows.
)
Will miss Paul. Not the best singer for sure, but he always makes me smile. One of the most entertaining to watch. Stefano definately has the better voice of the 2, but thought he'd be the one going of the bottom 2. He doesn't have the same personality or confidence in what he does as most of the others. Nice guy though.
I put Haley, Stefano and Jacob in my bottom 2. OK, I know Jacob sings well, but just not for me.
Real mixture this year. A lot so good at their own particular style of music. And I'm enjoying them generally.

Have been looking up more about Constantine Maroulis and never realised how busy he's been - or how successful.
Always loved his 'Bohemian Rhaposdy' , one Idol performance that stands out most of all.
Have been watching more of him singing, and he's amazing - have to see and hear more!

What a shock indeed, Pia going home!
Definately the best female singer. I expected her to be a finalist!!!!!!
I thought that Stefano may have gone. Like him and think he has one of the better voices, but maybe tries too hard!
I put Jacob, Haley & Casey in my bottom 3.
Thought Paul was so good, the best he's been and his voice even stronger too!!!! Made me smile for sure.
But have to stay with James, liked what he's done every single week, and this week, especially, showing the more vunerable side of himself. The best again for me!
And changed my mind from what I said at the top, about the new judges being good.
Oh to have Simon back, with some real critism and honest comments. I keep thinking 'I wonder what Simon would have said' or almost knowing what he would have said!
Most of all this week, I LOVED Constantine!!!
So good to see him again and know he's out there touring and performing. 
He was brilliant!
Back on the show he always was someone I loved!

I can't believe Pia went home. She's the only one I liked!! I'll probably still watch but I could care less who wins, don't really like any of the others. It will be probably be Scotty McCreepy or James that will win, but who knows? lol

Thanx Yvonne for letting us relive some of those great moments. It was fun watching some of those. It's been so long since I've seen them. And to think Simon said no to him...LOL! Oh that Simon, I do miss him dearly. I careless about these new judges now cause they love everyone and everything is just sunshine and daisies.
I will say that that was the bottom 3 I had wanted but had no idea that was going to happen. I honestly wasn't sad about Pia leaving. She really bored me and I didn't like her song last night whatsoever. She is a good singer but something about her when she hit those high notes reminded me of Jessica Simpson and that threw me off lol.

Well I'm still sticking with my two favs, Casey and Lauren. they've been my two favorites since the auditions. I do think Lauren can do a lot more than she's been doing. I really liked her this week.
I don't know what it is but I just don't like Pia, Stefano and Scotty. The other ones are so so I guess. I do like Paul and think James is a really good performer.

Was right in who I expected to see in the bottom 3. Though I would have put Haley, Niama and maybe Paul or Jacob.
The ones I enjoyed least were Haley and Jacob and Niama.
Paul a nice guy, but his voice just not there!
I like what James does - quite a performance this last week! But not James himself so much.
And am glad Casey toned it down a bit because I like him. A tidy up of the hair and beard did a lot for him too!!!
Like Scotty too. And Stefano. Think Stefano has the best voice.

Loved the song with Scotty & Lauren on results night.
Saw Kris Allen there, would rather have heard him sing than Fantasia. Maybe he's coming later.

I still don't have a "fave" this season.
I do really like Pia, she has a great voice. Still want to see her do something more uptempo though. She's consistently good.
I like Casey and James.
I don't like Jacob, Thia, Niama and Haley. Everyone else is the middle of the road, they are ok. Scotty has a great voice for country and I'm sure he will do well and get signed no matter how the show goes.

I was real shocked too - that Casey & Stefano were in the bottom 3.
I fully expected it to be Haley, Thia and Naima. And for sure that Haley would go. I really didn't like her performance.
Though did even wonder if James would be - if other people were going off him like me because of his show-off attitude! But wonder if the condition he has makes him over-excited and he can't control it. If that's the case I'll overlook it!
Scotty stuggled but did his best at doing a bit of Motown.
Pia such a good singer, but yes, she does need to change her performances a bit. A real boring ballad I thought and really not trying to do Motown as we all think of it!
Jacob I just can't seem to enjoy and never have
As for favourites - I don't have one either now, not since I changed my opinion of James. Though still like his actual performances.
Real glad that Casey was saved though. And hope he takes Jennifer's advice. Stop overdoing his act and forcing his singing! I do like Casey.
Stefano too needs to not try so hard and just relax.

Laurie~Yeah, I think Pia is very talented, but want her to break out of the ballad mode and loosen up and have some fun with a newer song. Based on her voice, I thought she'd be a shoe in for the F2, but like you said, people will get bored if she only dings Celine, etc.
I'm having trouble finding an overall fave, right now I'd say it's Pia. I do like a few others too.
You are right, poor Casey looked like he was going to be sick. Glad they used the save on him. I think he's very talented too but had an off week last week and then went first this week. Plus he's been so sick. Hoping he steps it back up, because I liked him early on too.
The only ones I don't care for are Thia, Jacob, Haley and Niama. Most of them have decent voices, I just find them very boring and am not sure what they'd do past AI.
Steven Tyler cracks me up and J-Lo is much better than I thought she would be.

I thought Pia was incredible. Just wish she would do an uptempo song.
I like her. She is very poised and has a great voice. I thought Casey did much better this week. I just can't listen to Jacob, Thia, Naima and Haley. I start listening and then end up fast-forwarding through most of their performances. 
I didn't care for Scotty's performance. I like Stefano but think he had an off night. Paul was better last night. He does have sorta a Rod Stewart/Bob Dylan thing going on with his voice. I thought Lauren did really good last night. James was really good.
I guess Pia is my overall pick so far this season. But I like several others too.

Lol@ you not remembering Lee's name. That was the most boring season of idol ever, imo. I do like Lee but his music....... not so much. Although I did like the song he sang a lot better than his last single.

So what did you think of the last show Laurie - and anyone else who's watching it?
Well I was right about who would be in the bottom 3. But did think Naima deserved to go. Guess because she's different she get people supporting her.
Thought Karen sung 'Hero' really well, but too early to save someone - especially someone who isn't getting much public support.
Iff it's used too soon, would be no speculation in the weeks to come - about if someone will be saved or not!
Liked what James did, but think he may be getting a bit over-confident and showing off a bit. OK to be confident when singing, but then settle down James and have a hit of humility!
Am thinking Stefano is one of the better singers! Keen to see what he sings in the weeks to come. And he's a nice guy - important on shows like these!
Didn't like Jacob again - as well as Naima.
But overall, enjoyed the show. And Ryan handled the results show much better than last week!.
Though did wonde rwhen seeing him again, how on earth Lee actually won - the winner who's name I always forget!

Well, not that I'd pick Scotty myself, but just had that thought when he was singing.
Funny you not liking him much, being a country fan. Because though I'm not really into country music, I do enjoy him singing.
So sounds like what's wrong with Casey is an on-going thing that he lives with. Co-incidence your sister has the same problem Laurie. Hope she's OK living with it.
Hope Ryan gets himself sorted and reads the script/results properly before he goes on air this week, so he's more onto what order he gets people out and how he breaks the news!!!

I agree with what you said about Karen. Your comment about Scotty scared me lol, but I've said the same thing too. Now I love country music to death and don't have anything against Scotty but I just don't enjoy him at all. I'd rather see your favorite James beat him out. James did do a good job though.
I was nervous that Paul was going to be in the bottom 3 last week, glad he wasn't.
So that's what's wrong with Casey, I know all about that cause my sister's got the same thing. Good to hear he's feeling better.
And I agree with the result show being really off. How about not beating around the bush for once and just say it. that can get real old.

Well Laurie, I was waiting for someone else to start up a thread, and gave up waiting, so started it myself!
Glad you're watching it. And yes, I do like the judges this year, makes the whole show seem revitalised! I loved Simon and didn't think it would be any good without him, but just sometimes changes do work out for the best!
Still think the top 12 are really good!
I picked Ashton and Karen and Niama for the bottom 3, was glad Ashton went.
Now all good. Thought Karen's song let her down, a bit boring!
Wonder what's wrong with Casey! Hope he'll be OK to continue because I think he'll be around for a long while yet!
You know, when watching Scotty, I thought he could just be the one to win this'!
And how about that - James my favourite, having Paul McCartney as his inspiration! Now Paul has been someone that from a teenager I always loved. He is the one person that I stayed loyal to since then! Not an all out fan for many years, but just always still liked him.
And the toned down, not overly made-up Adam Lambert was probably the best I've liked him!

I myself am loving the judges too, even though I do really miss Simon. He was my favorite and he was rather funny.
I think it's a decent group this year. My favorites have to be Casey (that dude is ridiculous on the bass) and Lauren. I don't know what it is about her but I just really like her a lot.
Another couple I like are Paul and Thia. I really like their voices.

Now here are my thoughts on the Top 13 for this year.
Am really impressed with those chosen by the public, they just about got it right as far as I'm concerned, with a couple of additions by the judges! Really glad to see them put Stefano and Naima through too.
Last year I thought the girls were far better than the guys overall, and look what happened to them!!!!
This year I think the guys are the better group!
At the first audition I really liked how James sung - and every time since. I just wish at times, that he'd cut down a bit on the Adam Lambertish high singing - called screaming by some! Now his confidence is rising, think we will get some impressive performances from him.
I also like Sefano and am very glad the judges put him through.
Casey is so different and very talented, I enjoy watching him and how he puts everything into what he does. Sexy? What do you think? I thought he was much older than he is!
Though I'm not into country music, when Scotty sings it, I really love it. He puts so much expression into his songs and he's one of my favourites now.
And though I don't really like the sound of Paul's voice, I love watching him and he's so likable and does sing well in his own way.
I have to say that Jacob is my least favourite of the guys. I know he sings really well, just not for me.
I'm sorry Brett didn't get through. But who would I swap him for? All the guys deserve to be there! Maybe one of the 2 extra girls - being Ashton!
As for the girls, am really glad Naima is there. She's different and good and interesting and brings something to the show for sure.
Pia and Karen and Thea all sing really well. Like them all.
Lauren can be good, will have to wait and see how she progresses.
Haley for me nothing any different from so many others. The same goes for Ashton. Just like so many we've seen on the show before.
